One correction, with latest firmware update it IS possible to adjust parametric EQ frequencies to what ever frequency you like, they are not fixed to certain frequency point.
That's great news. I've updated it recently but haven't checked that part. I'll pin this comment.
Judging from the video content I was thinking you may have had the ability to change the frequencies in the PEQ already - When you show the PEQ screen at 8:47, at the bottom of the screen are 3 options - The first one “F” I’m guessing is Frequency as it says 1000.0 and has a “-“ to the left of it and a “+” to the right (same with Gain and Q options on bottom). So it looks like you select the point on the graph (as you did), which activated the 1000Hz frequency range, then you can use “-“ and “+” to alter the frequency as well as changing the Gain and Q setting for that PEQ adjustment. Hard to explain in text, but hope you get the idea? Hope that helps 👍
This is a proper review. Every other reviewer said the preamp stage was excellent, one such reviewer has experience with pass labs gear. I appreciate the fact you were able to honestly tell us it was not up to the standard of an entry level preamp. Excellent work.
🙌
It's easily as good as entry level preamps 😉. What do you define as entry level preamps?
@@wegardfjeld3789 That ladder preamp that was recently reviewed.
@@dajikbatarang1 LB is his best budget recommendation yes. Some find it removing to much both top and bottom end. I'm going to try it in my lower end setup. It has a tad to bright sound and a bit of a boomy base. Should be a good match.
Some prefer A8's sound for other purposes. Basically A8 is a decent entery level preamp, good dac and excellent streamer. In other words a excellent product for most. Proper review unlike others ? They try to explain their experiences with new equipment . Getting new gear I often get carried away too and maybe it matches my setup better then someone else's. Just try to use the tests information for your best experience and don't be so occupied with who is right or wrong. Sound is a personal experience and this are great products with high value for money. It's a great time to be a audiophile 😉
Never forget that things sound different in different rooms too. Using Buchardt I150 as a preamp with room correction gave me goose bumps in my higher end setup. Got it used for 1200$. Wonder if Mads will make a pure pre.
I have been an audiophile for 50 years. Your reviews are so honest and precise Its comforting to know you can get a professional and honest product evaluation. Thank you.. Steve.
I hope that Eversolo comes out with the streaming section the A8 as a standalone device.
yes like the hifi rose rs-130
@@junior-OGNot the
same price category.
Excellent review, I’ve been watching your reviews for a few months now and am always impressed with the insight you give on the pieces of gear and it’s much appreciated.
This is the most helpful and informative review I've seen of this unit and your comparisons to the family of streamers from Eversolo. Thank you so much.
Great and honest review as always! 😊 Thanks a lot 🙏 for this very thorough and thoughtful review!
Great review. Eversolo should come out a pure streamer/transport/file server without the DAC and Pre-amp; and having the BEST sound quality. It is for those audiophiles who already have separate DAC, Pre-amp etc.
I would love to see that too.
HiFi Rose RS130 is what you want
@@Pete.across.the.street the RS130 looks superb, I agree. An eversolo equivalent incl with internal OCXO & external clock input, but at Eversolo pricing levels, would be very tempting indeed.
Check Matrix Element S if you wish.
@@Pete.across.the.streetTotally different price tier.
Very nice review and I appreciate the comparisons.
Great review. Thank you. Mine's shipping from Canada to US this week. Can't wait.
Excellent review!
Great review! Thanks for sharing.
Fantastic review. Thank you!
well man you saved me 2k usd!!! I planned to use the Eversolo as a preamp replacing my 15 years old Jeff Rowland Capri b/c other reviewers said it was on par with pass labs stuff... 🤦🏾🤦🏾🤦🏾🤦🏾🤦🏾🤦🏾
I was hoping the preamp would be transparent and support a turntable as well as digital sources. A separate preamp sounds like the way to go. Thanks for another candid assessment.
Once again a fair and honest review. My experience: I bought the A8 and returned it immediately as the DAC section, exactly as said in the review, is below par and very (imo) weak compared to R26. My point in general is that A8 does too many things to be used as a Streamer (DAC not used, R2R volume attenuator/preamp not used). Also when used as a streamer the digital attenuator (unless I did something wrong) has only 15 steps. I would not recommend this product
Good job done ! I am waiting for Eversolo to produce a Streamer only product !
Good. Me too...
Excellent vid
Thank you for the comparisons, it really is vital! If you are looking for an all in one the A8 is is a contender, but if you are trying to put together a system to achieve the best sound possible for the least amount of expenditure, the DAC and the pre-amp in the A8 become redundant. I would tend to go with DSP (Leedh processing) for volume control if you are on a budget.
Good review. I would also like to see an eversolo dac z6 review.
I much appriciate your reviews since allo usb bridge. Your conclusion on A8 using it as preamp, leaves me a little helples as to my interest it would be beneficial to USE A8´s and also A6 ´s DIGITAL INPUT, like for example with CD transport or other streamer, to really find out how the internal DAC (´s) is (are) performing. Thanks and stay healthy :)
Really SO appreciate your attention to detail and how comprehensively you approach pairings. Removes the guess work in so many ways. Argh! I wish Eversolo would also release transports without the dac at a price competitive with the Rivo (or others similar). But I suppose they'd lose money doing so?.
I have to say that would be my dearest wish as well... I have an iFi Zen stream with a Denafrips DDC Iris ($800) and a Denafrips Pontus 2 DAC, 12th anniv. ($2800). The sound is superb, but the $400 iFi is not up to par with the other components...
I'm looking for a streamer without a DAC. There is the Volumio Rivo, but the choice of a streamer WITHOUT DAC is rather limited... The Denafrips Arce does not yet have the Tidal signal...
Great review! Love the way you broke it out to compare the streamer only, DAC only, preamp only and then all together. Seems like a great streamer and DAC for a very reasonable price. I wonder how it compares to the HIFI Rose 250 or 150? The 250 is about the same price. Also, just watched a great review on the Orchard Audio Pecan Pi+. Can the Pecan Pi+ compete with this or the Rivo? I personally am looking for the best reasonably priced streamer under $2K to pair with a Gustard R26 / Denafrips Pontus ii DAC and Audio Research Preamp. Which one do you think would be best for me?
Excellent review. So many reviewers give no justification for their comments in regards to what they hear, just meaningless words like "better, fuller" etc.". You described differences in what you heard, separation, depth, width, tonal accuracy, soundstage, etc. That is what we need from a review. Thank you.
Many potential buyers likely own better DACs already than what is inside the A6, for sure, and likely the A8 as well. The same likely goes for a pre-amp. A lot of us have them in our 2 channel systems already, but may still be looking for a high quality streaming source to add to it. Something to replace a computer or entry level streamer perhaps. So, as many others have commented, I wish they would also make the effort to build the best stand alone streamer they can and, like the A6/8, at a reasonable price. Give it the upgraded femto clocks, I2S digital out, a top shelf power supply, control it with a high performance GUI and just drop the DAC and analog sections altogether to keep the price affordable. If they kept it under 1,000 USD/Euro, they truly would have no competition. Keep the A6/A8 for customers that do need a DAC or DAC/Preamp. As offered, the 2.25x price of the A8 over the A6 as a stand alone streamer is a tough call for me.
I totally agree! The A8 is an interesting device, but for many it is really over-equipped, while the A6 is hardly an ideal streamer, since it has an extremely limited set of digital outputs (and at the same time we still have to pay for the built-in DAC, and ideally also pay extra for the Master Ed. and a linear power supply). So yes, a purely digital device with the richest possible set of digital outputs (it could be called D - from the word Digital, whereas the A-series is Analog), equip with a clean power source, and just leave everything else as it is.
having been saving up for A6 upgraded version and A8 is produced to lure us more. Personally I prefers A6😅
I’m buying the A6 Masters Edition to use til I can get my hands on a A8 . I like all in one setup . I don’t have a audiophile ear but pretty good. My devices aren’t the best either . I think the A6 will be nice for my Onkyo AVR paired with Focals . I want the A8 to connect with my Rotel 1591 MKII paired with Polk R700s . Love your channel just subscribed . Very detailed review . Thank you and great success with your platform
Sounds like a good combo.
@@Pete.across.the.street I hope so as in my retirement my money tree has died . But I love the sound out of my big Polks. If I get the A8 version in February or march I’ll put the A6 on my Onkyo rz50 , Focal Chora and SVS 1000 sub . For my old ears it will be awesome but maybe not for someone with more accuse ears . Cheers across the street
Hmm.Great review.I think I;d take the 6 with upgraded PSU and use a Lab12 tube pre.Waiting for the DMP 6 to get a eArc in version 2
Thanks for the best a8 review on youtube!
How do i bypass the pre amp and how to connect or set?
I enjoy your reviews. Your are well listened, know your music, and present remarkable reviews in I assume a 2nd language. Thank You
I will wait until the initial A8 purchase rush is done, I want to know how the NAD M66 sounds. I am well invested in Bluos devices already. Please review it as soon as you get one.
Great insights! Thank you brother! I wonder if i should consider this for my Hegel H390 integrated amp for the network transport as i love the DAC in the H390. Would you recommend that? Appreciate your thoughts 🙏🏼
I will wait for the Master version😊
Maybe there is a DNP-10 coming with a much improved Pre-amplifier for $3000 to $4000.
Then it would be a truly hi-end audiophile product. Love your work, thanks for doing what you do.
that would be really nice... killer product
😂😂😂😂 nice one. Upgrading the same product without offering a real upgrade. Just price increament.
Due to your prior excellent video regarding the Volumio Rivo I would much prefer that over these other "one box" solutions. A dedicated digital streamer such as the Volumio would much better serve my needs, as I have built a system around separate components. Currently I am using a WiiM Pro Plus with an Allo Nirvana power supply. So were I to 'upgrade' then a Volumio Rivo would be a much more reasonable purchase.
I came to a similar conclusion and finally bought a Lindemann Limetree Bridge II. I strongly recommend that based on my first impressions
@@fstrati what gear have you had that you can compare it against?
Great as always. No need for external power supply?
One thing the Eversolo crowd shares with the McIntosh crowd, they are Defensive on their products. You think this was the 1st streamer made? And with the Power Supply upgrades offered for the A6/ME, that's like talking about Recapping or Power/RCA cable upgrades. Thanks for the reviews as you are Very Important in keeping these reviews real.
Not really true. Tarun (A British Audiophile, is his channel) measured A6 with LPS and compared it with A8 on its own. The A6/LPS combo was better than just A6, but still harsh and metallic on the upper end than A8.
I wonder if the A6 Master Edition w/linear power supply closes the gap in SQ even more that the a6 Standard w/LPS? You mention as a streamer and also with the DAC engaged the LPS allows the A6 to compete in tone and texture with the A8, but not in staging. Just wondering if the A6 ME widens the soundstage over the SE enough to close that gap a bit with the A8?
Great video. Thank you.
I would like to connect the Eversolo DMP-A8 Streamer with the KEF LS60 speakers. Do I need any additional hardware to play Hi-Res Audio via Apple Music? Sorry, I'm not an expert in this area.
Thanks! Do you have any plan to review the Eversolo AMP-F2 amplifier?
You always give us excellent honest reviews, thank you 🙏🏻
Can you help me with a question or two, totally understand if you don't have the time. I want to buy a preamp for my A8 however I am stumbling on the impedance matching, is this relevant? Lots of people talking about good and bad impedance matching and it's worrying me.
What's a better match for the A8, ladder bach, schiit Freya +, gustard p26 or denafraps Hestia. Also is the denafraps Hestia the same as the ladder bach internally? Also I can't find any reviews of the gustard p26? I actually prefer the looks of the gustard p26 but can't find any reviews on it. Thanks in advance! Steve 👍🏻
Hi, thanks for the nice video! Would you like to publish a comparison between 2 DACs? The Ares 12 and the gustard r26 ???
I have orderd an A8, and a iFi Audio Pro iCAN Signature. I think that can be a nice combo, as there are meny settings on the amp to! Mvh/Peter
I’d use the iFi as the preamp. It’s incredibly good.
Love your reviews, any chance of reviewing the Primare cd 35 Prism
Your comment that just "enabling" EQ/DSP without actually changing anything "negatively" influences "fidelity" is a point most overlooked by many UA-camrs and on-line "guru's" IME.
It's true in Roon and it's 10000% true here. Great point.
Great review! How do you bypass the preamp on the A8 (to use just the streamer & dac)? Advice appreciated. Thanks
i want to now too...
Thanks Srboljub! How does the RME ADI-2 compare as a preamp? Your impressions of it seemed quite a bit better.
Also interested in this.
Fantastic review. Planning to get one soon. Could you please advise how to install & stream Apple Music on A8.
If you want your preamp to add color, don't use the preamp. If you wish for transparent straight-wire performance with no added noise, the A8 is fantastic.
Great review, thanks! Was wondering if you had ever tried the Nain Uniti Atom and how you would compare it to the A8.
Thanks. I have listened to Atom and it sounded nice, but it was in a completely different system so any meaningful comparison is not possible.
Great idea giving it away as a xmas prize 😋😋😋😋😋
Does the DMP-A8 work via I2S with your Gustard R26?
I'd like to see a review of the Topping Pre90 preamp, others have gave it high marks
Nice previews ! I would like to know if the dac inside the A8 is better than RME dac. Thanks in advance. Pit
To my ears it is better. It creates bigger soundstage and even more deteil retrieval.
Please do consider reviewing Lejonklou Kalla streamer and DACs from Audial, Newontech, Merason and TentLabs
I wonder how do you bypass the pre-amp section. If you use the XLR output does it go through the internal pre-amp circuit? If that could be done, it would be awesome, and it can go straight into my McIntosh pre-amp.
I think you have to use the digital outputs to circumvent the pre-amp stage. So USB, AES, coax and go to an external DAC. I would buy an A8 or A6 as streamer only.
It makes me wonder, while I would like to upgrade, how soon before the A10 comes out of an A10 Master Edition?
Becoming a fan of your channel , Is A6 with upgraded lps or with out lps as a streamer with gustard r26 better than a A8 or a ifi zen streamer with a r26 compare to a A8
Heard A8 and Limetree Bridge II in my space. For Limetree I had MCRU linear power supply. No audible differences. I'll keep the Lindemann Limetree then.. even with LPS it's less than half the price. (Btw, A6 is sibilant and overly harsh metallic highs like a lot of chi-fi.)
Hi nice rev. do you plan to rev. Rose 130?
Absolutely outstanding review as always...thank you. I think the combinations of a WiiM Pro Plus with Linear Power supply, paired with the Gustard R26, would out perform the DMP-A8. This is my game plan. I also think we can look forward to another Master Edition in the A8 coming soon.
That might be a little wishful thinking. I think the Wiim has more sonic limitations than just a power supply swap can fix. But if you actually try both let us know.
@Pete.across.the.street of course a power supply change will make a difference. In fact, if you watched iiWi's review of the WiiM Pro Plus, he mentioned that with an upgraded power supply, the digital platform of the WiiM sounds "richer, cleaner and more 3 dimensional" and he would rate the digital platform on the same level as the digital platform of the A6. That paired with the R26's superior DAC should make it a better sounding solution.
@@grantdwillemse21 I know it will make an improvement. I am saying there's other parts of the Wiim holding back the sound quality. Even with the LPS, it's probably not going to be on the same level as a higher end streamer.
@@Pete.across.the.street I hear you my good Sir . I know it won't with just the LPS, but paring it with the Gustard R26 will make a big diff....this is all just pure speculation on my side of course 😅 and I'm by NO means able to purchase either DMP-A8 or Gustard to test. LOL but I live in hope that iiWi will do a comparison for us.
@@grantdwillemse21 yeah that's true. Should be a pretty good combo. The Wiim aren't bad, they just have their limitations even with a great power supply.
Good point with the $2000 audiophiles price
Thanks Much !.......
Hi! I am struggling to find a sound-Upgrade to my current system without spending a leg and arm. It"s a ifi zen stream in exclusive DLNA Mode with a LPS, connected via USB to a Chord Qutest, also with LPS. As far as i understand your review, the DMP-A8 probably would not be the sound upgrade i am seeking?
Danke!
Thanks for your support!
@@iiWiReviews You're welcome!
Good review!
One question: are you sure about your statements regarding the power supplies? I thought that the switching power supply only powered the unit's operating system and the screen, and that the linear power supply powers both the analog and digital sound parts.
I am not and there is no official info about that clarifies it 100%. That would make a lot of sense thought.
[@9:10] I don't like or use DSP either. Subscribed!
(my A8 gets delivered in a couple of days)
Solid, professional review. You got a new subscriber. English is a second language to me too, so I humbly suggest you force yourself to add the article "the" to specific substantives like A8, A6, DSP, etc.
Thanks! As for the articles, yeah. I'm a natural Tarzan, especially while my mind is crunching on something else, and can't simultaneously pay active attention to grammar. But I'll keep giving it the old college try.
Wonder if the A6 ME willl match up to the A8 as far as a streamer only sound wise
Could you please do a shoot out between the A8, moon mind 2 and PS audio's air lens?
I had settled on the mind 2 until I heard about the A8 ,which if nothing else has the screen in it's favour, I'm just looking for the best streamer at this price bracket.
I have to say that to be fair though you should include the A6 master edition as it's specs are the same as the A8 except for in the power handling.
I don't feel comfortable with the idear of raspberry pie( or is it strawberry fruit cake😆) but any other worthy streamer, if you feel it deserves it.
grate review as ever thanks.
As alwats a very succint review. Just a pity A8 doesn't come as a minus the preamp model for people who have a good preamp. I will never use function as I use an EAR Yoshino 912 Pre Amp. However I would like the jump in performance from the A6..
To bypass the preamp, you set the analogue outputs as fixed? This will make HDMI ARC pointless, right?
🤷♂️ THANKS SRBJ 🤗💚💚💚
When will the master edition be available ... 2 months???
I was going to get this to replace my PS Audio Stellar Gain Cell DAC/pre (and Node 2), but I was thinking it may best to keep the PSA SGCD and use it as a pre and A8 as DAC and streamer. Thoughts?
I don't have any experience with PS Stellar Gain Cell so it's difficult to give any advice in this case. If I have to make an educated guess, I would say that you won't need to keep it. A8 has a very good DAC.
Great review as always. I think you may have been referring to Steve Huff when you commented on the reviewer but not sure. If so, I really like Steve but I think he's a little out of touch with how he classifies the quality or label of audio components because he spent so much time playing with and owning super expensive gear for so long. Only in the last year has he started to embrace more "affordable" gear and he's still not quite labeling the gear right.
A6 + gustard R26 or A8 ?
Nice to see a claremont 56 fan, that almunia album is really nice.
Both devices if used only as a streamer I believe they have the same audio quality. The difference is if they are also used as a DAC, in which case the new analog and digital sections of the A8 outperform the A6 streamer. Since I only need a streamer, I decided on the A6, which has one advantage that the A8 does not have, which is an HDMI multichannel audio output.
He said they didn't have the same audio quality in the review, when used only as a streamer.
Did you get this from the manufacturer to keep? Passion for sound said he did.
Your reviews are the best! You helped my decision to get the Gustard R26 and I have no regrets.
I have a problem though. I am tempted by the A8, but love my R26. I currently use the Wiim Pro with the R26 but want to upgrade my streaming side. Would you recommend ditching the R26 and Wiim and buying the A8, or would you recommend adding a better quality dedicated streamer to the R26? If so, would something like the Volumio Rivo be a good choice, or something else? I welcome your advice.
I would just get a good power supply for Wiim and call it a day. It punches above it weight that way.
@@iiWiReviews I appreciate the advice. Any recommendation for a power supply?
I was using Allo Shanti LPS for the test but that one is out of stock for sometime. iFi iPower X is a decent "budget" solution, iPower elite is even better if budget allows. It might feel unintuitive to spend that much on a power supply, but it brings bigger sonicall gains than going to these more expensive streamers.
TY. I ordered an LPS from US company Pine Tree Audio. Made to order. I will receive it in a couple of weeks and will let you know how it works out!
May I ask for opinion here.. My Dmp-a6 Master edition, weaker is dac or preamp? Would you change it to the r26 alone?
One question! About PRE APM - Is it better than digital volume in Standard A6? I am using Sveda Audio Active speakers, only with E. DMP - A6.
Analog volume control is generally much better than digital
I have the A8 thinking of getting the the ladder bach or shitt Kara. Which on should I go for? 👍🏻
I wonder what accuracy you could hit which device you hear from the two one in a blind test.
Interesting review. I'm currently running the Naim ND5 XS2 as an all-in-one streamer/DAC. I would be interested if you (or anyone else) has a view on how the A8 would compare in terms of sound quality in the same all-in-one streamer DAC configuration? cheers
I have and NDX2 + XPS-DR and have heard the ND5 XS32 many times (nearly bought one). If you appreciate the fullness and refinement that you get with the ND5 XS2, the A6 and A8 will sound bleached and color-less to you in comparison.
I'll add that if you want a solid sound upgrade and are using a Naim preamp/integrated, get a Gothic Audio ELLA 5-pin DIN interconnect cable. Very close to Witch Hat Morgana levels of performance for about half the price (before WH went under). Even when using Preh-DIN connectors.
hi, A6 as a streamer with Gustard R26 as a dac are better than A8?
Holoaudio Red sreamer with Gustard R26 should be killer combo
Please review Lumin D3!
That would be fantastic comparison. It’s have unique digital pre-amp feature, probably beating A8 in that regard.
1:50 the Lumin has leedh digital volume control which reduces rounding errors. DMP-A8 has analog R-2R volume control which avoids this problem altogether
@@salimmehta8467 Reviews say otherwise - but in the end you need to hear it to judge.
Eversolo A8 vs Lumin D3 ktory lepszym wyborem?👍👍👍
Great review ! Thanks for the comparison vs Gustard A26 & R26 for the DAC part. Do you mean a DMP-A6/ME with LPS-A6 (used as a streamer only) combined with a Gustard A26 will perform equally or better than DMP-A8 (they use the same AKM chips, but not the same power supply, etc.)? What about DMP-A6/ME with LPS-A6 (used again as a streamer only) combined with a Gustard R26, will it perform better than DMP-A8 ? My assumptions based on your great review is that DMP-A6/ME combined with Gustard R26 are the best price/performance combination ? By the way, did you use USB to connect the streamer (DMP) to Gustard ? A8 could be interesting to leverage I2S interface to R26 maybe (unlike A6)? My music library is mostly DSD, and I found delta sigma still better than R2R to deliver great sound stage & crisp details; in native PCM R26 is the king IMHO.
Exactly what i would like to know...
Hello, with which speakers did you test the soundstage differences?
Difference is big, I did, test them all at the same time
Merci🙏
After watching reviews of A8 and finding out that it has band equalizers, I went to settings in my A6 and for short period of time it also had band equalizers😊 . Couple days later it disappeared. I reached out to eversolo and they denied that band eq was never available on A6 and to show them pictures or video of that. Unfortunately I do not have any evidence of that but I was happy for that couple of days tinkering with eq. Unfortunately it was removed, I assume with an update. I wish they kept it and had it available on A6. Did any of you guys also experienced band eq on eversolo dmp-A6 for short period of time?
Eversolo announced a few days ago that PEQ and GEQ are coming to the A6. Maybe you accidentally got a sneak peak at a beta version somehow!
Your videos are excellent. What do you prefer in terms of sound quality strictly? Eversolo a6 + Gustard r26 or Eversolo a8 with its internal dac? Thanks!
Personally, I would probably go for A6+R26. Also, if UPnP bridge and Roon bridge are enough for you, you should try just using R26 on it's own.
@@iiWiReviews thank you very much!!
Taking advantage of your excellent disposition. Between the a8 and the a6 + z8, which option is better in terms of sound quality? Thanks
A8 for sure.
Thanks!!!
I'm upset along with many other audiophiles. I'm upset because I would have waited to buy the A8 if I had known it was coming down the pipeline so soon. However, I do love my A6!
Yeah, I do get that. A6 is great on its own however, and upgrading it with LHY LPS-A6 makes it even better. So maybe that's something to consider.
I temporarily(?) replaced a new well reviewed $7000 preamp/DAC/streamer with the A8. I’m really trying to justify spending the funds to replace that preamp as opposed to just using the A8.
It not only sounds as good, but maybe slightly better to my preference. These differences are so small but certainly not $5000 different.
The streamer is multiples times better, the DAC is newer technology and to me, sounds better. I think it sounds slightly more detailed and a slightly better sound stage.
As for a preamp, I’m hearing no noticeable differences between the two. I think my power amp and speakers handle the sound as well as with the other preamp.
One of two things is happening here as far as I’m concerned. Either my other preamp isn’t as good as I believed, or the A8 is a better preamp than I expected.
I’m extremely pleased with the A8.
Hello. I was curious if you are still using the A8...& did you stick with using it as a preamp as well? I truly appreciate any feedback you are willing to share.
Thank you
Does the EVERSOLO DMP-A8 have e an internet radio tuner that allows us to listen to radio stations around the world? Quality? Thank you.
Would it have a better sound than do300 (or su-9 pro) with a wiim pro ?
Without questioning the review conclusions, I'd still appreciate if someone explains what makes digital USB output of one streamer better than another one. Each of the two receives exactly the same compressed audio stream, decodes it into PCM (which must be exactly the same in both cases) and sends it over USB to a DAC.
Better timing (better clocks/less digital noise), Less analog noise ( which flows on the USB cable to the DAC and shows up in the analog signal after conversion)
@IWii
Did you compare Eversolo A6, A8 to Wiim Pro or specially to Wimm pro plus?
How does it looks c9mpared to RME 4 ?
There's a Wiim Pro plus review few videos back on the channel... There I compared it to A6 among others.
I'm sure they have no comparison possible. Wiim pro/ pro plus is a great streamer and great value but one has to be serious...it's a HUGE price difference, A8 is a lot more complex, featured piece of gear. A8 has to be at leats two tiers above wiim current products.
@@JoseFerreira-zb7wh I have some WiiM streamers and you are correct. They are great values but not "giant killers". You actually do get more for your money sometimes in audio gear, you just have to be careful and read a lot of reviews. I would wonder how the A8 compares to streamers by Innuos.
@@rosswarren436 i think they are giant killers and put up a good fight with units costing 2 times maybe 3 times as much. But not like...10 times as much. There would have to be something very wrong with the company releasing such products.
@@JoseFerreira-zb7whEach new product for 1000 or 2000 euro more expensive🤯😲😟😤🙄 a step back🤢
hegel h120 + dmp-a8 (just dac/streamer) good combination ?
Hoped A8 came with 10M clock input
Brate...moze jedan iskreni savjet od tebe....
Dmp A6 + Smsl su-10 dac... ili....Dmp A8 sve u jednom?
Sta je bolji izbor po tebi?
Hvala!
DMP-A8 sve u jednom. DAC je sličan ali ga jača digitalna sekcija vadi i skupa je to malo bolje sve od A6+SU-10
I'm strongly considering getting this. I was waiting for someone to say how it sounds with its analog out but into a separate preamp. Mine is a state-of-the-art Audio Research fully analog, multi-channel, fully balanced, multi-thousand dollar gem (MP1) that I'm sure would sound sensational with the A8 as source. I'm just bummed they changed out the multi-channel HDMI out (of A6) to an i2s stereo feed instead...because I could have also fed that into my Oppo 205. But even so I have no doubt my system would reveal the DAC upgrade.
Do you just have to simply bypass the internal volume control in the settings to take it out of preamp mode--and then hook up the balanced or unbalanced connections?
Hi there, that`s exactly what I did. XLR out to Pre-amp (Audioquest Yukon to Cambridge Audio Edge NQ), turned off the volume control on the A6 Master Edition. I also replaced the power supply (LPS from Beatechnik). It sounds amazing. This combination works better in my system compared with digital out of the Eversolo.
@@mironenaAre you referring to the A6 or the A8? Did you even replace the power supply on the A8?
@@scottmuhlbaier1945 Hi Scott, it`s A6 Master Edition with the replaced power supply (now Beatechnik LPS). I`m happy with A6 ME and LPS. It`s definitely in the range of 2000USD streamer and DAC. Pre-amp in A6 is digital and not good at all. But hey, is the one in A8 any better? Obviousely not.
@@mironenaThat's one big problem with the A8 because it doesn't appear you can bypass the volume control. Setting it to 100 is not the same thing as a bypass. That in addition to removing the HDMI multi-channel which I would use. Now I just need to know if the A6 Master edition makes any difference if I just use it as a streamer transport into my Oppo 205 DAC
