I find veggies at Asian supermarkets are cheaper...maybe because turnover is more frequent as they tend to cook fresh meals everyday.😊

Appreciate the list and the math! Budget-oriented is key and so useful. I'm eating closer to vegan and that makes for big savings.

Wow 🤩 Thank you for sharing this video! Cabbage, carrots spinach & peas are my all time favorite budget friendly vegetables:) Oats, brown rice, whole grain pasta, lentils, beans ( chickpeas & black beans) are my pantry staples. I make a variety of dishes with them and it’s so delicious.

We live in the same area so food prices are the same. Recently I started shopping for discounted produce and meat at grocery stores which can help with ensuring I get healthy food at an affordable price.

Such a great video thank you Meghan. I find a lot of these especially the fruits are very high fibre which I struggle with. Could you recommend any veg & fruit that are medium fibre? 😊

I live in Northeast New Jersey US. Prices here have gone up quite a bit like all over I guess. I think your prices are very close to mine for most of the foods you showed. Thanks for doing the math! I enjoyed this video very much.

In Poland bananas, onions, carrots, spinach, oranges, cantaloupe, sweet potatoes are really expensive right now 🙁 lately a package of ground pork was cheaper than a bunch of carrots 😢

    Hello from Australia 🇦🇺
Our fresh fruit and veg prices are ridiculous 😢 a friend at work told me that she paid $12 for 1 kilogram of apples at a local fruit market 😮 and it's so odd, with our oranges the only options we have in the big brand stores on loose oranges is ones from the USA! Crazy when we have so many local fruit farms here! Even our avocados are around $2.50 each at the moment, I try to buy seasonal fruit and vegetables when I can.

Helpful hint. If it's something healthy you see in every store it will be cheaper. If you have to go to a certain store to buy it, it will be much higher priced.

    Very nice video!
I like canned (safe) tuna too. I use that pretty often.
Chicken is very expensive here in New Jersey. I have to feed a hungry husband and two always-hungry-teen-boys, and myself being pregnant. Things add up a lot more when you have to factor in such things. Therefore, I buy a good size block of tofu for less than $2 which I use as an alternative that is cheaper and my family likes it too, thankfully. I make a lot of rice and tofu meals on low budget weeks. I also make my own bread for all their sandwiches I make, since it saves me a lot of money (we go through 2 loaves a week).

I'm in NJ too; I agree chicken isn't necessary cheap here, but it's still a staple for my family and I. I also include tofu in the rotation - so affordable! My 2 young daughters love it (my hubby, not so much). Having meatless meal options one or more times a week is a great way to save money.

I'm trying to be mindful about what I eat and have a more balanced diet since I recently quit the pill, so that was very helpful, thank you ! 😊 I think you have another video about hormonal balance too so I'm going to watch it again. Also I laughed so hard at the cabbage modelling hahaha 😂 You know what, just for that, I'll give it a try even if I don't like the taste very much !

Wow. I knew the price differences between Alberta and BC were massive, but I didn't realize Ontario was also so much cheaper than Alberta still (I grew up just north of where you are). Even cabbage, which is usually the cheapest veggie, is over a dollar a pound (when it's not on sale it's closer to $2). I went to buy pumpkin seeds at Christmas at the store and they were so expensive I ended up buying them on Amazon. When I moved from BC my grocery bill jumped by over $100/mth (and I am a deal shopper) and it's only getting worse. Love the video though! :)

This was very informative. What do you grind your flax seeds with? I do not want to use a coffee grinder as I like to wash the container thoroughly, and nutribullet company does not recommend grinding in a nutribullet. A video with you demonstrating grinding flaxseeds and how you use them in recipes, along with chia seeds, nuts, etc would be great at some point. Any other comments regarding what to grind flax seeds in would be most welcome. Thank you.

I'm also in Ontario, so similar food prices. But I have noticed that peanut butter has jumped in price lately. It goes on sale for $4.99 (1 kg jar) but full price it's $10.99 at Shoppers and Loblaws! Strangely it's $5.99 regular price at Sobeys so I'm not sure what's going on. I go through peanut butter like water, so I'm hoping the price comes down!

    • @meghanlivingstone
      @meghanlivingstone  Рік тому

Loblaws is considerably more expensive - I saw it for $8.99 (the Kraft Only Peanuts one) but $5.99 at Nofrills. Crazy!

We kinda use a mix of both metric and imperial, depending on the thing. Lol I tried to convert things as I have a lot of viewers in the US as well though.
