    In regards to Bunny: As a scientist, I want to remind everyone that measuring animal cognition is very, very difficult. We know that some animal species (elephants, dolphins, octopuses, etc) possess above-average cognitive abilities, but the scale that we use to determine "average" is very temperamental. It's very easy to consider an animal intelligent just because its behavior resembles that of a human while ignoring another whose behavior is alien yet equally intelligent from an outsiders perspective. Personifying an animal's actions is also a huge problem. So, while Bunny and her buttons are very impressive, we have to be careful about looking too deeply into her actions. She has figured out the buttons, yes, and maybe even the relationship between them, but proving that she understands the words in any deeper way would be very challenging.

      Theres many different kinds of sciencetists. If you’re mixing chemicals all day, or putting wires in mouse’s brains or something like that, idk if you’ve got any authority on this either buddy.

      As a self aware scientific person and inventor I can scientifically prove that self awareness and existentialism makes a healthy human being of average inteligence become easily deprresed and anxious over time upon layers.

    My sister watches a lot of bunny and has buttons for her dog. Bunny is NOT ON ANTIDEPRESSANT BC OF THE BUTTONS she is an anxious dog she's been on them for a while, the real reason is bc her mom takes her brother (the other dog she owns otter) to dog shows and she has really bad separation anxiety. Also I think the case of her being "self aware" is us projecting onto the dog I don't think it's actually that complex or thought. She does think about it but it's not in the same way we do. Also a lot of dogs are on anti anxiety medication specifically poodles and doodles which bunny is bc they tend to be quite anxious (my sisters dog is also a poodle and is very anxious)

      ALSO ALSO the buttons are part of a larger experiment you can find a lot of information on it it's not JUST bunny that is a part of this she's just the most popular I've also seen a cat named billi who uses them and once again I live with a dog that uses them

      @Good Queen Alysanne Billi's family doesn't suggest she's self-aware or anything, and they have no cuts and show the whole interaction. Billi uses the buttons for normal things that an animal would think about or notice.
      After a long time with the buttons, Billi has learned to communicate more complex things like where and when, though most of it is about food, toys, and being pet. Her family teaches her to associate actions, objects, people, etc with words, and they're very transparent about the fact that sometimes she doesn't understand, especially when she's learning. The videos are also usually really hard to disprove (one of my favorites was "Noise Ouch" when her mom had the Hamilton soundtrack on in the house)
      But cats have been thought to start meowing as a way to communicate with humans, and since the buttons, Billi doesn't meow much. An interesting note.

    I heard a really compelling theory about the meaning of The Enigma of Amigara Fault. It said that the holes can signify a predetermined place where you belong in society that seems made perfectly for your niche and just for you. And deciding to go forth on that tailormade path that society has made for you even if it warps and destroys you as a person once you get out of it, but you feel compelled to go down that path because, yeah, its perfectly tailored for you and would be easy. Deciding to ignore what society tells you is whats really hard, trying to forge your own path is hard.

    Okay the dog “talking” isn’t that abnormal. It’s like training parrots to speak you do positive reinforcement and repetition. As for the fluoxetine it may be taking that for separation anxiety from the owner. It’s not uncommon for dogs to have mental health issues.

      My dog uses these as well, not to the amount that Bunny has but she has a couple she uses to communicate. I don’t know much about dog medication, but I’m on fluoxetine for anxiety, so I assume Bunny is taking those meds for the same case.

    • @sipsdrewshin9169
      @sipsdrewshin9169 Рік тому +6

      Exactly, and even then, birds and especially parrots have a vastly superior intellect compared to dogs. It’s unfortunate but domestication is often foolishly equated with intelligence, so other species who’ve still got a wild and individualistic temperament are overlooked. I believe it’s just animal trick training, and off screen the owners are using cues to guide the dog. Meaning this dog is just engaged in reward seeking behaviour.

    To be fair, some cultures actually have dead relatives in actual beds and children sleep in the same bed as the corpse. Sometimes theyll put a relative in a chair in the corner of a room or in bed (Im sure theyre embalmed first) So this man who has his grandmothers casket isnt even very shocking. Different cultures handle death in different ways

      Yep. Had a Navajo friend who dated a Hopi woman and he attended a funeral on her families side, it's a traditional thing for them to have a last meal with the deceased and he hadn't noticed until he sat down for dinner with them; he had to excuse himself as that is something that is taboo for us Navajos.

    The other explanation of the Juni Ito story is depression and suicide. Going in there is often no way out of the abyss of sadness. I see how he frames it with a physical fear inducing sire of a claustrophobic hole, but those of us who struggle with depression can see how this mirrors the mental calling. The dark monster later on is the lingering call of the abyss.

    I study decomposition and the DJDeafJoey thing had me interested. I looked through the video and came to the conclusions that his grandmother may be mummified. Typically people think of mummies as being wrapped up in bandages with their organs removed but mummification does occur naturally, albeit in very specific conditions. Natural mummification typically occurs in very cold and/or dry environments. These mummies can last for years. In Peru, mummies from years ago are discovered fairly regularly. The cold, dry environment that could mummify a set of remains could easily occur in a climate-controlled room like the funeral home that DJDeafJoey’s grandmother was originally housed in.

    The first story... Its really a case of culture, not actual creepiness. It's scary to Americans and those raised in American culture because we are so far removed from our passed loved ones. Some cultures are VERY close to their dead. Some of them will keep their loved one in their home for a full year and change their clothing every day, offer them food and water, brush their hair etc. Kissing a passed loved one that you haven't met may be weird but what makes you think he never heard stories about her? His parents/aunts/uncles/ cousins could all have stories about his great grandmother. Death isnt scary! It's natural.

      @Joshua’s HAUS I hate to tell you that a properly cared for dead body isnt unsanitary in any way. Unless your passed loved one had some type of contagious disease that caused their death then yes obviously you cant touch or interact with their body. But a properly taken care of body poses no issues. Awful uninformed opinion.

    • @alex_6448
      @alex_6448 Рік тому +7

      @Joshua’s HAUS The body in this is also so clearly mummified. IDK how that happened naturally in this case, but it does happen. There's this place in Mexico called Guanajuato where several bodies in a graveyard mummified naturally and they are now on display in a museum. They look just like this. And if its mummified then its dry, and as gross as you may find it its not gonna be fully of all the icky germs you'd expect bc its dry. Its not gonna be any dirtier than the dust that naturally accumulates anywhere else in your house. I can bet you anything in your home you touch regularly (like your phone or your towels) is gonna be way dirtier than this body or hell, even than a toilet bowl.

    The buttons are just like any other motions or actions dogs do. They learn the word 'walk' and to go to the front door. They learn when they want food to go to their bowl. Dogs are supposed to have the average intelligence of a three year old, most of us with dogs have a bunch of things we know what are dogs are trying to say. All they have done here is train the dog to hit the button to make the 'sound' for walk or food etc., rather than to go to their bowl, to go stand by the door, to nose the bag of food they want etc. etc.

    That manga was so interesting and creepy. I think that was a very unexpected media source that most don't cover for these kinds of topics, but I feel like it was a really fascinating dive, very disturbing in its own way. Also, I loved that intro skit. It was hilarious and relatable, especially the inner dialog.

    The talking dog tiktoks could very easily be faked. The owner could simply just train the dog to press certain buttons before the tiktok.

    My grandfather passed in 2021. In Brazil bodies can share a single plot. So the cemetery dug up the plot where my grandmother was already buried. The casket was completely empty except for a stuffed animal we buried her with and a few bones. We don't embalm in Brazil I think so her body simply disintegrated over the past decade. I'm not sure how this body is still mostly intact!

I don’t know if I would kiss him on the mouth if they opened his casket, but I can really empathize with having a connection with someone you never knew. Also, I don’t know where he lives, but if the casket was buried in a place with a dry climate, it would def affect decomposition

    there’s an interpretation of the junji ito one, it’s a video on youtube but i forgot the title and the creator. it’s really good, i recommend watching it if you want to get deeper into this whole story but it kinda gave me an existential crisis lol
    basically the story (or at least the interpretation) is about life itself and how everyone just goes into this sort of hole that is made for you. you go to school, then college, then work and then you die without questioning why or if you even want to. it’s kind of telling us to rethink the way we live and instead of crawling into the hole, choose the life we actually want to live.
    the video explains it much better than i do tho hahahah

    I used to follow Bunny the Dawg as well as Billi the Cat. The button system is deceptive! It certainly *appears* like the critters are absolutely sentient. But they are just clever, and that's nothing to sneeze at. My dog would never have even figured out the first button. But I still loved him, of course.

    There are many many cultures throughout the world where preserving deceased loved ones and keeping them close, like in a living space or someplace easily accessible, is common and was widely accepted. Ancient humans have been doing what he's doing for a very long time and only recently has it become stigmatized, mainly because of Catholicism and Christianity. Shocker I know. My point is, he has a loved one and he cherishes her. I see no disrespect happening apart from uploading a video of her. That's the only issue I have with it.

    To add to the dead body video:
    The corpse looks very dried out which can suggest it may have been naturally mummified. Under the right conditions (I.e. an environment that is very cold, dry, and/or acidic) a body can be preserved for hundreds of years. While it's very rare for a body to be preserved in the absolute perfect conditions, it's possible and that may be why the corpse is not overly decomposed.

  • @slightlyaboveaveragebutaverage

    The whole thing regarding the dog is very easy to fake. The dog has been trained to press the buttons and gets rewarded for doing so. So you ask your dog questions all day and post the "responses" that make sense or can be steered into making sense. Like the whole bit about the dog asking when no bunny. This isn't really a sentence or phrase that makes sense until the owner tries to twist it into that. She could have been sitting there for hours trying to get anything out of the dog. We won't know cause we're just seeing the curated videos.

    So for the first story - in Victorian times it wasn’t at all weird to have the literal body in your home. People even took portraits with them and sometimes photographers would paint open eyes on their eyelids to make it look like they were awake. There was a time where what he’s doing wouldn’t have been seen as strange and really - if he loved his grandmother that much who is it hurting so long as he doesn’t abuse the corpse?

    • @hollyccam
      @hollyccam Рік тому +1

      Yeah but in those circumstances they still ended up burying the body. Keeping the body in a house was just the way they had funerals. The photograph thing was often to document the existence of people who never had their photo taken in life. The grandma video doesn't really relate to those examples.
