Thanks for watching!
I love the idea of a hybrid photographer. As a person who loves both photo and video, I’ve always felt like I either had to be booked as one or the other. I recently picked up the a7iv so it does seem like an ideal time to try this out. Got a couple wedding videos to shoot this year so I’ll experiment in trying to take photos to see if I can balance between the two. The idea of this challenge is very exciting to me. I’m all ears to whatever workflow advice you have on this topic!
Very Informative. Thanks Taylor 🙏🏾
I was never really into video but I second shot for a guy and helped with video for a few days and it really didn't seem all that bad. I'm going to start putting together some sample clips and start offering a highlight video with my weddings and portrait sessions as hybrid coverage. I don't know why I never considered it way earlier
Can you do a video on what you pack up for a solo hybrid destination wedding? I have my first one in Cancun this year and would like some packing tips on what I'd really be needing for photo/video coverage.
Could for sure. You doing full ceremony/speeches or just highlight?
Maybe you can talk about customs declarations, clearances and limits on the gear you bring to Mexico; I’m covering a destination wedding later this year and worried about having to bribe people or getting my gear impounded. I plan to bring my cheaper bodies and lenses just in case (R6/16mm/24-105/v1c/ad100x2/stands and tripod)
Thank you for sharing this video!!
I’m learning more and more about videography with my YT channel, and offering hybrid coverage is intriguing! Have you considered film for weddings?
When you started with weddings, did you focus on weddings or also do travel gigs, UA-cam? I’m wondering if I should focus on one more.
Weddings pretty much 100% for 7 or 8 years
Hybrid Rocks.
Very useful tip. Thank you. I am interested to know what you choose for specific moments like first kiss and cake cutting. Have you tried getting stills from your video clips? Also, do you just use video for good light or do you carry LEDs?
Nice work Taylor, keep it up. Can I just ask you what you record sound on for a wedding day. Do you Mic everyone up.
Would love to get more tips on doing this as a solo shooter. Usually when I watch your vids about hybrid it’s you and Tim. That to me sounds like one doing video and the other doing stills. I’m sure I’m wrong, but I never have a second shooter and am wondering if this is something I could or should start to include in my wedding packages.
Great video! For hybrid coverage days are you shooting without a nd filter or Are you still shooting high shutter speeds as a alternative to have a lower f stop?
No Nd and adding Reel Smart Motion Blur if a clip needs it
I've been really curious lately how people store their cameras and equipment at home. I'm redoing a bedroom and turning it into an at-home office and want to create a space to store my equipment but haven't decided how that will look. I'll look to see if you've done that video before, but if you haven't, maybe that could be a video you can do. Love these videos every day. Thank you!!
I don’t think I’ve done a video on this. I’m traditionally not too picky with it though sadly so I might not be the best to learn from
I have a dry cabinet for the bodies and lenses, and use pelican cases for strobes/monolights and the other electronics with desiccant packs to control humidity/fungus. I like to have a pegboard charging wall (plenty of examples online) and Ikea cubby bookcases to easily organize my video and photo gear (grips/cage components/cables/etc). Bottom line - do whatever it takes to stay organized and keep your gear ready: nothing worse than not being able to find a key cable, part, battery plate etc when you are prepping for a job or having a last-minute gig and then scrambling to buy one or have it over-nighted.
Would also recommend photo/video equipment insurance specifically, as well as keeping a go-bag with a backup camera, lenses and batteries separately (eg hidden in your car or somewhere else secure) so you don’t lose everything in one incident and can still work while waiting on your insurance claim.
Thank you, very informative and interesting. Similar to another comment, in the UK, there is always a demand for the speeches to be included. Please can I ask, how do you phrase your hybrid offering to clearly set it out to couples from the outset? Thanks in advance
Do you only offer the highlight reel or do you also offer full ceremony or speeches at the reception? I just started adding video and have had many leads ask for this
Are you shooting in any type of Log format?
Nope
I wish germans would party like this :(
Haha. I spent time in Berlin in my early 20s. I’m surprised to hear weddings aren’t crazy
@@TaylorJacksonPhoto Berlin is so different to the rest of berlin. I´m from the south and the craziest weddings are mostly mixed couples where one part is not german :D
