I'm fine with both bikes as well. My concern is really the government. There is too much of a push for electric which looks bad for the future of gas powered anything. I won't go into battle of pros and cons, I just want a choice of what I ride, drive and use.
When you are charging electric with diesel generator you are lost in the sauce. Renewable fuels sound great but take 1000 times the energy to make, so more lost sauce.
people’s hp already adopted EV cars selling and going back to ICE! empty Mall lots full of new EVs they can’t sell, cost explosions! it’s insanity.

I’m not hating on electric… but I’ll never own one. The fun is in the engagement of clutching, shifting, know where the power is and conquering your bike. Electric is boring. Hell, 4-strokes are boring to me.
My buddy has a stark varg. Great bike. Really is! He improved his lap time with 5s, he had an rmx 450 2010 before so I guess he would have improved on any new mx bike.
Either way.. I rode a couple of times now. Great and all. But I just didnt yell with it. Its just not as fun. To easy. Not so exciting to me.

Everything will change when all the kids being raised on Stacyc bikes get old enough to go to bigger bikes. They will push the change.

Between purchases & sponsorships I've had over 40 motorcycles to own or were mine to race. Being an old dude (in my 60s) those included Hodaka, Bultaco, Ossa, Montesa, Maico & Cagiva besides all Japanese, Swedish made Husky & Penton/KTM. Mostly MX, but xc & Enduro disciplines too.
When Musk makes a 5+ hr battery... bring on an electric bike for trail riding. Super efficient shaft drive would be welcome also (would rather not have to tighten & lube chains anymore, besides doing filters).
Ebikes a ecars both have their place but i dont think mixing them will work at a national level
Formula 1 has a e version called formula E. That lets the the e nerds play without disrupting the real racing

Yes, eMX and eSX classes can be a thing but not at the expense of gasoline powered motorcycles. My main concern is definitely safety of hearing other riders, combined with fans not hearing exhaust it just wouldn’t be as entertaining as the main attraction.

If the only issue is sound, they can program the electric bikes to produce sounds and develop standards and speakers for that purpose. I agree the mixing of the electric and gas bikes in the same race is problematic but the sound issue can be overcome pretty easily with technology.
A dirt bike with a speaker is for the rainbow boys..

Electric is the future! I've been preaching this since electric bikes reared their quiet heads. All my riding areas were shut down because of NOISE! Can you imagine the opportunities to poach back the lost areas. Listen to Ryno! He is the living Emperor of MX riding knowledge. Great guy too

LOL you guys are way over complicating a sound output🤣🤣You are making more of a problem out of it them making a solution. Do you know how simple it is for a sound output for an E bike if people think that's the reason they shouldn't race together?🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂. The biggest thing the MX community is totally afraid of and why the sport lags behind so many others is because of fear of change. ICE bikes go through sound check for max output so all you have to do is add a minimum output for E bikes. This is simply a selectable setting and gives you the best of both worlds on a product. There are bunches of riders that race with ear plugs in to block out the ICE noise anyways. There is currently no government regulation(s) for E bikes. That is a fake narrative created by many. E bikes are currently being sold simply by consumer demand and growth areas of the sport that ICE bikes currently can't fill. It's an addition not a replacement. The topic of E bikes really brings out the uneducated in the sport for sure. Most have no education on it so all they talk about is politics, gender and all sorts of other 100% irrelevant things instead of the growth of the sport. Now does that mean everyone has to buy one and it is for everyone? Absolutely not just like there is currently not one ICE bike that does everything well there is also not one E bike currently made that does everything well.
The non riding public hates the sound of our bikes more than everything. They say it's erosion and pollution, but bottom line is out of sight/sound out of mind. Electric/quiet could greatly help stop or slow the one way slide of us getting banned everywhere. I see it happening everywhere, one riding area at a time. If they can't hear us they won't care about us. A 60 hp 450 is louder than a 500 hp car, and I know why, but it's still stupid.
I like electric, my problem is they are saying its for the environment but using a diesel generator to power the charging. It makes zero sense. Also the renewable fuels sound good until you see it take 1000 times more energy to make these fuels so they arent renewing anything. Like e85. Look into it. We cant frack for the same reasoning.
Fossil fuels arent going anywhere. The cost is deternined by the amount left. If they admitted peak oil is madeup the price would plummet. Yea sounds a little tinfoil hat but only 20% of the ocean has been mapped. We just dont know. But you ask an oil man how much they will give you a definitive answer. Our arrogance is annoyong. The long answer we dont know but they will never admit that.
I think they will be good for areas that you cant ride in technically. That sort of thing. Which is promoting doing something you shouldnt anyway. Well whatever lol. I would bring back a straight 125 class before i ever thought of adding in an electric class.
If they can make an electric bike sound like an 1986 RM 125 I'm all in .
Electric racing with gas is dangerous because you can’t hear the e-bike coming from behind. They don’t belong together but I agree obviously they have their place
Electric moto bikes can and will eventually be a whole lot lighter than they are now. They will be very different than the internal combustion engine bikes. They absolutely should be in a different arena or class.
Downhill mountain bikes don’t make any sounds either, and that’s some of the most exciting racing ever. Electric dirt bikes need to find their own scene, as they don’t fit with gas motors.
A stock Stark Varg is better than a 450 is most ways. I don't care about the "sustainability", whatever that means, it's some weird religion, but I'm sick of all the maintenance of dirt bikes and the fact that after several years of riding they are basically not worth rebuilding. I'm not convinced that a Stark is any more expensive in the long run than a YZ450 or definitely any of the KTM brand bikes, which are $$$ to buy, uncork, and maintain. I don't care what the fans want, supercross can worry about that. Motocross and dirt bike riding are about riding. If everyone is on electric bikes you'll be able to hear, and you won't need earplugs to keep your hearing.
We thought the cost increases of the 4 strokes were bad??.. Going electric will fully kill the sport.

The E- bikes should have a class of their own, they make gobs on instant torque and aren't compatible with ICE bikes. Personally, I'm not a fan and don't want them on the track with me because I cannot hear them.

100% agree on this. This is the era where a new racing series can be created. No need to infringe on Moto. Emoto will have its own place, like bmx racing, you can build tracks closer to cities and make it more accessible to the masses. ICE will always be KING but emoto can be an avenue to grow 2-wheel sports as a whole.

When I was a kid I clamped a playing card to the frame with a clothes pin in such a way that the spokes hitting the card kinda made it sound like a motor. You're gonna have to bring that back for electrics. LOL.
