1997 preseason against the Wizards. Crossed up Jimmy Oliver and then posterized Ben Wallace. We were all high on him, but that was what made it clear he was ready out of high school.
From tons of them my personal favourite is after breaking his right hand he worked out with a cast and practised with left hand. Never took a day off. That's a lesson to me forever. RIP Mamba.
Either when he literally gave his 40 point streak up for Shaq when Shaq came back from injury or when he didn't shoot the ball for almost 2 quarters just to see if The Lakers could do it without him being himself on the dancefloor
The night he tore his Achilles might have been my favorite Kobe moment. I’ve never seen anything like it before or since: the man massaged his tendon a little, got up, walked himself to the free throw line, calmly nailed 2 shots and walked off the court unaided. With a TORN ACHILLES TENDON!!
For me it was that game in 2013 vs the raptors. He was hitting impossible shots in the clutch. That was kobe, putting on the best show for nba fans 🔥 RIP
Game 7 of the 2010 finals. Could not hit a shot but got in the paint and got 15 rebounds . He and gasol combined to get 33 rebounds and held a hof in KG to 3 rebounds. Had 10 of his 23 in the 4th..the last 3 makes by the Lakers were 2 FT by kobe , a jumper by kobe and the assist to Artest which gave them the lead before. Lakers were down double digits in the 4th before coming back to win that game.
For me,it was the whole 09 finals vs the Magic. The French kid from Orlando was playing incredible defense with like hand in his face on every shot and Kobe was just...swish,like he wasn't even there.and,I was like "yea he special foreal"😂😂😂💯
That was the year Kobe guaranteed the Lakers would make the playoffs. Kobe took over the whole second half of the season and the Lakers made the playoffs. But tore his Achilles tendon not too long after that spectacular play against Toronto.

There was a game around 2005 or so. It must have been after Shaq was traded. I was hanging with a friend at a Venice Beach bar & the game was on. Lakers were losing. But when the 4th quarter began, Kobe started doing his thing. It was perfect because the girl I was with had never really watched him play. So I got to show her in real time why everyone loved him so much. Clutch shot after clutch shot, and sure enough (the way I remember it), a game winner to cap off the night. It was just a Tuesday for Kobe but she was a lifelong fan after that.
Too many favorite Kobe moments to name. I'd say the air balls in Utah that lost them the game. As Shaq said, nobody else wanted the ball. This guy was 18 and putting the team on his back. He wasn't air balling because he choked. He was air balling because he was tired. That was the moment that I knew Kobe was going to be a hall of famer. He was never afraid of the moment, he attacked it.
Before UA-cam, TiVo, DVR, we would look up when Kobe was playing to see some insane 40 point streak continue. One of the few times NBA became appointment television. There was something about that Lakers team that hasn’t been replicated - refusal to lose or be common. It was surreal and it’s etched in my memory.
Mr. Arnett, thanks for showing us in this 8.5 minutes just how important the game of basketball and love for it and the competition was to many of the older athletes! What Kobe and the rest of those players did, "Opposing Team As Well," showed heart and a true love for the sport! I know without a doubt, the fans appreciated what those professionals gave them in what today, many would consider meaningless. You're points were very clear! He and others Lakers showed this after winning a Championship, in Los Vegas, not L.A., During the preseason, not the regular....Number 14, whoever he was would fit in really well in today's league! He's not remembered because he was let get go shortly afterwards. Today, he'd be a starter for one of these teams.... Considering those factors, your playing because "You Love The Sport, The Spirit Of Competing, And You Want To Win❗️👊 I was one of the few, Privileged enough to see Dr.J, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Isiah Thomas, and MJ & Pip live! Awesome video, Jonny! Christie was a great defender, but Kobe had an amazing game. I'm not surprised that he was so relentless. I remember reading his book, "The Mamba Mentality" and found his determination and hard work to be inspiring and incredible. I also remember watching him play, and, as a Kings fan, it was so stressful to see him be so unstoppable (and his work ethic is absolutely amazing). So, while I don't recall this pre-season game (probably because it was pre-season), I'm not surprised that he took it seriously and gave it his very best effort. You did an excellent job discussing the game and Kobe's effort. He was a legend and I agree with you - his performance in this game definitely shows who he is. Nice video again. Have a nice rest of the weekend! Take care, Jonny :].
I feel like another overlooked moment in Kobes career. Was the GW against the suns in the playoffs not the one in 06 but the one in 2000. I feel like that one doesn't get talked about as much. This is coming from a Suns fan 😖
Jonny, you're closing in on that 200k subs. You've come a long way and I'm glad I found you when I was on a very low point in my life health-wise and rekindled my love for the NBA. Keep being awesome!

My favorite Kobe Bean Bryant moment 🤔 so many moments. But for me was game 4 in the 2000 finals. Shaq fouls out and Kobe takes over giving the Lakers a 3-1 series lead and he was 21 years old. But Kobe gave has so many great moments tbh. That’s why he was box office and must see tv.
Please dive into Kobe vs Lebron 2013 All Star Game. That game has the same vibe and underscores why we love Kobe. I watched and honestly thought Lebron was out of his depth vs Kobe. And that was when lebron was a 10 year vet.
@jacoblee5796 LeBron fans are funny. LeBron TEAMS are 16-6 Vs Kobe TEAMS. By the same logic that LeBron gets the edge in 16-6, Kobe gets the edge in 5 rings to 4…. But y’all are always quick to discredit that one 😂 Moving goalposts.
@@jonnyarnett LBJ had a winning record against Kobe before going to Miami. Personally I’m not a LBJ fan (my favorite player all time is Dirk) but this comparison between LBJ and Kobe is asinine! @jacoblee5796 Hey man, watch the tape. Maybe Lebron really was better vs 34 yr old Kobe but it sure didn't look like it. Either way, Kobe going hard and raising the stakes in an AS game and pre season is just part of what we love about him. And I'm not even a Kobe fan much at all, but just gotta respect him.
Love Kobe, greatest Laker of all time. This video just makes me laugh more at "Lakers" or "Kobe" fans that clown the team for trying so hard in last years In-Season Tournament. They clearly never understood what Mamba Mentality actually means.
Exactly! He genuinely might have been done after this game, because the only way he isn't traceable on Basketball Reference, is if he only ever played in the preseason 😂
The moment Kobe was standing over MJ play punching him , was the most iconic human moment I ever seen from brothers who are seen as GOATS aka Godz at the game we all share a passion for

My favorite? Intentionally throwing a Game 7 to prove a point. The Mamba was a man of many facets. For me, he was the ultimate heel. A legendary player with Patrick Bateman tendencies. Seeing Kobe succeed without Shaq Fu was cool, but not as cool as that 2011 second round sweep.

And this why it bothers me when ppl call him selfish. He’s doing exactly what they LOVE MJ for. Yet Kobe was looked at as the bad guy for taking the game super seriously. He definitely needed to change how he talked to ppl to become a leader. BUT great leadership is also LEADING BY EXAMPLE. When one of the best players & youngest players are the hardest working. Watch the 1990 documentary "The History of the NBA" hosted by Pat Riley. Listen to Bill Russell carefully when he's interviewed by Riley. He says he wanted to win every game, playoff game or exhibition game, it didn't matter. That's the mentality that the great players had up through Kobe Bryant, and that very few have today. And I don't think they were "less skilled" back in the day either. If today's players played under their rules, when hard defense was the way of the game, and floppers were looked down on and ostracized as puss's, today's players would get demolished. You couldn't carry the ball palm up with every dribble like you can today and walk and travel all over the court. Bill Laimbeer, Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Russell, Bob Lanier and on and on would knock you on your ass when you went to the hole, and you weren't getting flagrant fouls. You'd have to suck it up, get up and keep playing. Maybe they couldn't hit 3's as well back in the day but they played with heart and wanted to win way worse than today's overpaid lazy pampered Primadonna's. Today's players are interested in their paychecks first and foremost, and then about their podcasts, gaming and everything else, with basketball about the 5th thing down at the highest.
The funny thing is that I actually just finished a script for a John Stockton video that scheduled to drop on the 28th, in which I’m giving Stockton love for just that 😂. Just because I’m giving Kobe his props, doesn’t mean I’m hating on someone that wasn’t even mentioned, like chill bro. Lol
@ Nah, it’s just when the video started you’re trying to make Kobe out to be some kind of iron man. There are players that were a lot tougher than Kobe.
Lol, that is an EPIC fumble on my part! All I had to do was make the outro 1 second longer. Damn. At the very least, 8/23 is Kobe's birthday, so I'll take that I guess 😂
what are your opinions on players/coaches being omitted in future anniversary teams. so far Bob Davies and Joe Fulks are the only two players who made an anniversary team (25th anniversary) who didn’t make subsequent ones. Bill Fitch and John Kundla are the only coaches who made the top 10 anniversary team but not the top 15 anniversary team. really Doc Rivers is better than John Kundla?
Again, good video Jonny. But Kobe is a copy of Michael Jordan. Michael has done the same thing too. Kobe's range of shooting is really ridiculous though.
I'm not like that, like not at all... If I win like 3 in a row, I kinda take it easy and soft int, give an opponent a chance... But guys like this, you HATE to face them... They will win 1000 times in a row and rub salt on your wound
Kobe was very streaky. His 'on average' stats are not that impressive at all. He never once had a season shooting over 50% and ended up sub 45%. His last-second shot % was like 25%. His efficiency rating wasn't impressive. I understand since he played for the Lakers he would get way more attention than most, but he was an overrated player that did a good job trying to imitate MJ and he succeeded about 25% of the time.
Now I’m not a Kobe fan but, you have to realize for last second shots most people are not good. LeBron is like 24%. Mj from what we have tracked is 34%. So last second wise he’s alright. Everything else valid
I think what all of you do and have no decency about is everytime you people talk load management, you use Kawhi. Kawhi has only load managed twice. 2019 when he returned from injury 2020 where he didnt play b2b games 2021 he played b2b games, he did get injured. 1st All NBA 2nd Team all defense 2022 injured throughout the season 2023 played 68 games no load management, he got injured. 2024 yet to play. If it was only Kawhi, this wouldnt ruin the league. The issue is guys who aren't injured decide to load manage, this is what is destroying the league not Kawhi. The question is what are your favourite basketball players doing that load management became an issue? Kawhi literally played injured in 2017, 2019 and played injured in 2023 postseason but he's load managing. Lol I think all of you who dont address this are pathetic.

The game was on Oct 23 2001 and the players name is Joe Crispin 6:47
John Stockton missed how many games in his career? This Kobe glaze is wild!
Man if you made your video a second longer, it would have been 8:24
Lol, that is an EPIC fumble on my part! All I had to do was make the outro 1 second longer. Damn. At the very least, 8/23 is Kobe's birthday, so I'll take that I guess 😂
@jonnyarnett hadn't thought about that either looll. We will take that! Great vid anyway my man like always👌🏾
#11 is Joe Crispin. I know .."who?" At least he's the answer to trivia questions.
This was a preseason game
🎉❤
After LeBron twitting why he had to fly to Milwaukee for a pre season game...
Load management 🤓 y’all old schools complain too much but I still rock with you tho Johnny
When he paid off ol' girl and got his case dropped and then bought his wife a $4 million dollar ring to apologize.
It was against the Queens.😂
RIP the God
what are your opinions on players/coaches being omitted in future anniversary teams. so far Bob Davies and Joe Fulks are the only two players who made an anniversary team (25th anniversary) who didn’t make subsequent ones.
I don't think sacrificing sleep is a good idea for professional athletes.
who would be the GOAT Head Coach for each of the NBA teams?
"Generic create a player" 😆 🤣 😂
Collab with Jomboy get him to do some lip reading
Lol, he actually lip reads. I just make fun of people 😂
Because forreal, who was that guy? Lmao!!!
@jonnyarnett If you do more KOBE videos, you're going to get more views and more subscribers.
I'm not like that, like not at all... If I win like 3 in a row, I kinda take it easy and soft int, give an opponent a chance... But guys like this, you HATE to face them... They will win 1000 times in a row and rub salt on your wound
Love Kobe but he overworked himself 😢
2019 when he returned from injury
2020 where he didnt play b2b games
2021 he played b2b games, he did get injured. 1st All NBA 2nd Team all defense
2022 injured throughout the season
2023 played 68 games no load management, he got injured.
Lol
I think all of you who dont address this are pathetic.
Meh
