"Dirk" His custom Sonoma "Sempiternal" surviving the 2019 Texas floods

- BUILT TO CRUISE EPISODE #21 Hear Derek "Dirk" Belt tell the story of his full custom Sonoma "Sempiternal" and how it transformed into the showstopper and magazine cover truck it is today.
Sempiternal has been featured on the cover of All Time Low Magazine and was recently photographed for Truckin Magazine as well.
Derek tells the story of growing up in a country town and striving to be different. While others were riding horses and tending farms, Derek was busy building and enjoying custom trucks.
During the tropical storm Imelda, the Texas coast received record rainfall and flooding much like it did during Hurricane Harvey during 2017. This flooding impacted Derek and his wife, claiming their new car, and coming close to claiming Derek's full custom Sonoma.
Despite the setbacks from the storm, Derek and his wife continue to customize their vehicles and be different from the norm. In small town Texas, they are definitely one of a kind.

Who else listens to Bring me the Horizon? How fitting is Derek's truck name?
That truck name is awesome and 100% true
Patrick reed is a well known name in mini trucks. I’m 35 years old as well. I think I first heard of Patrick about 15 years ago when he had that ranger he painted several times. He had that truck featured multiple times. He’s the man for insane paint for sure. We are getting old. I never see custom mini trucks on the road like I used to. That’s how you know trends are changing and we are getting old. I’ve had four rangers and one Sonoma. I still have a Ranger and I sure love it!
Patrick is one of the best painters in the nation. I believe 9 of the episodes we have released have been painted by Patrick.
Thanks everyone for all the positive comments!!...Thanks again B2C for coming out to Liberty and featuring the truck
Thank you, Derek, for taking the time to sit and talk trucks with us.
Nice build it Friday
Thank you for watching!
love the video.
Thank you!
Yea that rain killed us down here
It was still flooded earlier this week. Crazy stuff
@@BuiltToCruise oh yea it's still trying to dry out
The real question is si quema?
It has a 350 under the hood. So yes, it can do a good burnout.
Good video..
Thanks Red!
Man that Sonoma is beautiful! I need to get me a truck soon! I miss having one.
It is amazing to see in person.

Great interview. Another great story . I cant get enough of Built to Cruise
Thank you! We appreciate the continued support.
Ive been into trucks before i was 16 and im only 20. I wonder what derek belt will be like when he is 50 which is when i will be his current age (35) (which will be in 2034) when we are talking to each other at a show at that time
I'm sure in 20 years, we will all be doing this still. It never goes away.
Awsome truck, been waiting to see it in person I had a pic sent to me of it from a friend at a show
It's amazing to see in person. Pics and video don't do it justice.
Im also in the same club as brody
No Regrets!
So let me get this straight. Dude man had to make sure that someone else was coming in before he could leave his job because there was a HURRICANE going on?? Shouldnt the place have shut the hell down and made everyone go home. like no bitch we riding this one out. That's one tuff ass boss man bbn or lady.
He works in the oil and gas sector in the Houston area. The industry does not shut down for adverse weather conditions, even Hurricanes.
Well not everything on the trucks scene comes back into style thank god, we dont need to repeat the 15x10 & 15x12's with the 50 series tires sticking out a mile and hopefully never see the neon color's of the late 80's and early 90's
Several builds are beginning to feature exactly that. 15" Daytons or wide billets, and throwback paintjobs. We have seen a handful at shows this past year.
Always the the WIFE,FIRST.
Only 10 acres lol? My family owned 150 acres now that was alot.
Who painted again? Wheres patric located
Patrick Reid of Madd Concepts painted it. Check out Madd Concepts Facebook page.

Could you guys doing the videos do one on Jeffery Dillard and over laid out at the park tn show been to few times like know more on it
Hopefully we can connect with them at some point.
Im in the same club as rook
No Regrets👍
BuiltToCruise all damn day!!!
Nice truck, but basically dude just talked about writing checks and other people building his truck.
Not everyone has the ability to build things by hand. Sometimes it's better to leave things to a professional and have a higher quality build when it is done.
@@BuiltToCruise that's cool and all... Prefer the quailty builds that people built in backyards, on weekends.. But that's just me
@@FrankWhiteMH even though someone else did the work, the passion is still the same. At the end of the day, it's about enjoying the truck you've built, or had built.
Frank White I’m not a professional painter,I don’t have any artistic skills...I can’t do upholstery,I COULD do a basic air bag job but I work a lot and would rather have professionals do it...Oh and no checks were written for this build,I only deal in cash when building show trucks
Love the channel and stories man just subscribe
Thank you! 👊🏻👍🏻
Starting my S10 as we speak... This is inspiration to keep me going with the project
I live in Los Angeles where people listen to rap music while i listen to linkin park
We each have our own style. The world would be pretty boring if we were all the same.
Lol. I think i remember his old truck. I use to hang out at Mind to Metal Rey’s house when i was in high school before he moved to his shop. Those were the days. Had my static dropped Nissan hardbody on Escalade wheels. Things were so simple back then.
The good old days of minitruckin.
BuiltToCruise like back when Heatwave Austin was still a top tier custom truck show. Lol.
Just a Good Old Boy great video B2C for life ✌
👊🏻👍🏻 Thank you!
Wow did not mention one thing about the Motor...?? I was waiting for that. I could care less about the looks. The motor is the heart an soul. Should put small block 350 in that. 💯🤙 But not hating overall nice truck. Design threw it off. It's better solid blue.
Binx Negale the truck has a 350 with a 700r4 trans...
@@Dirkbelt 💯👍🤙
👍🏻
Mini trucks were never about the motor. Layin low and goin slow is how it’s done in a mini truck.
Another awesome truck. Nice interview, seems like a down to earth guy.
Derek is good people. Always fun to hang out with.
This truck is amazing. If I ever build a minitruck (lifelong goal), this is total inspiration.
Thank you. We hope to continue inspiring others to keep minitruckin alive. There are plenty of us out there, even in remote areas of the country.
Shout out to Winston cave omg!!😂😂😂
LOL! We had just talked about his live streams before we started recording.
Yuppie with a nice truck
curtis schmit 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
LOL! 👍🏻
"shoulda gave Winston cave a shout out" 😂
LOL! We were turning off cameras when we started discussing the caveman and his live rants.
