  • Björn from Sweden asked me to do another Fällkniven F1Pro customization. So, I did.
    Osmo
    Ordered the knife from local distributor and started the work... Some drama ...well., a bit late for Björn's timetable wish because of an accident with my hand. Happy anniversary "J.B."! Sorry for that delay. Back in life again.

    I get a real sense of satisfaction when a project is finished and I'm really happy with it. I think that is why videos like this are fun to watch you get the same sense of satisfaction with the craftsmanship and superb finish even if it's not your work. Amazing looking knife Sir.

I cut my finger just below my knuckle three weeks ago and had to go get stitched up, it still hurts and isn't healing up to well. Hello i seen you change the handle of one or two falkniven pro and i have a question: in order to change the handle... it's absolutely neccesary to cut the guard? or you do it just for the look or feel of the brass guard

    • @thetopicala
      @thetopicala  6 років тому

      Crhistian Gomez hi, thanks for asking. The original finger guard is very narrow. It was the reason to change it to brass or any other metal.

    • @crhistiangomez5570
      @crhistiangomez5570 6 років тому

      First thank you for answer me so fast. Second... so i guess you change it for functionality?... Is ther no problem to keep the original finger guard? My first impresion is that you remove it for the epoxy can stick well as this example? Thats true? And last... love your work recently saw 2 more of your customization... nice!

    • @thetopicala
      @thetopicala  6 років тому

      Crhistian Gomez You may leave the original front plate if you want to have a very very slim /thin handle. On the other hand it’s not a big deal to assembe there wider metal plate. The original handle is very slim and after my work shop it’s thicker which was the idea in the beginning to start my custom work 👍🏻 thanks, Osmo

    • @thetopicala

      Jimmy Crackerlacking Thanks Jimmy for the interest! Yes, the wood block is one whole wood around the tang. I have drilled and turned the hole for the tang. Used epoxy glue to attach blade/tang with the handle block material. The sander is Scheppach BTS 800 👋🏻

      I'm just going on personal experience. Cocobolo is a really oily wood. The only thing I've ever been able to get to dry on it is lacquer. I usually just sand it and buff it and don't even put a finish on it anymore.

    • @thetopicala
      @thetopicala  6 років тому

      Sam Harper I had a quick look at cocobola. Yes, I knew it’s oily. You can almost feel it while turning it. Okay, I think thin oil like Tru oil wouln‘t do any harm. Last think is to put lacquer on any wooden knife handle. The wood wouldn‘t breath anymore under the lacquer. Thanks, Osmo
