  • Hellwig Helper Springs - 2018 Ford F 150 - Review. Load Pro - LP-25 - before and after - Unloaded and Loaded. Easy to install - 1 1/2 hours total. Leveled out load ( 450 # Arctic Cat ATV ). Truck rides a lot better when loaded, front end doesn't float, and rear doesn't sway anymore when loaded.
    An update - I checked the weight of my ATV, it is really 650 #'s not 450 #'s

    Great review. Before/After measurements make a big difference to your presentation. Thanks!

    LP-25 is no longer listed on Hellwig's website for 2018 F-150. Instead they list the Pro Series 61607. From what I can tell it seems to be the same as the LP-25 however the pro series includes the hardware. Which makes completing this upgrade roughly $163 cheaper. Good video btw !!

    Just watched another video of helper springs that look the same as yours. The other video showed polyurethane bushings in between leaf springs. Is it possible that you're missing bushings, and that that's why you ran out if thread and have bolts sticking out a few inches?

    Nice! Did completely tightening down the preload U bolts make your ride stiffer when unloaded?

    • @ironmark6911
      @ironmark6911  3 роки тому +1

      Nope.. I didn't notice any difference in the ride at all.

    GREAT real world example with measurements Loaded vs not, BUT, I was expecting more of a change, are you still saticfied with the setup??

      Absolutely. I can load whatever I want in the truck and never have to worry about it squatting down, swaying while driving, etc. I did food plots earlier this year, and had 3,000 #'s of lime, and 500 #'s of fertilizer.. No problem

    Do they make any noise when you go over a bump?

    • @ironmark6911

      Nope, I can't tell the difference between before and after.

    can you tell me why put in the bed of truck instead of a small trailer?

    • @ironmark6911
      @ironmark6911  3 роки тому +1

      A lot of places I go to hunt are very tight one lane roads small turnoffs to park,.. it is very hard to turn a trailer around.. Some of my friends bring trailers and we end of unhooking them and turning them around by hand as you can do it attached.
      The springs are also good for carrying heavy loads or even towing heavy loads too

    your missing the spacer that goes between the Helwig and the original spring, it is what the u-bolt goes thru and keeps everything aligned , should be on each end where there is a u-bolt!

    • @ironmark6911
      @ironmark6911  3 роки тому +1

      There was no spacer provided in the kit to install. Nothing in instructions about that either. As they sit on top of the existing springs, not sure what a space would be required

  • @jpntjp1
    @jpntjp1 4 роки тому

    The u bolt on each end of the spring are too long because they go in the middle of the spring on the Hat...

    • @ironmark6911
      @ironmark6911  3 роки тому

      nope, they are labeled for each end and also the middle at axle. they make them long as they do not know how thick your existing spring pack already is, thus allow for thicker springs.

    Let’s load a ton and drive them on few dips and speed bumps, I’m eager to know how much difference it makes...

      I did load a pallet of ledgestone a few weeks ago. It weighed about 1,400 lbs.. Back end went down less than an inch. Drove great on way home ( about 8 miles ).. No sway, or light front end. The new springs did what they were made for

      Iron Mark I pulled the trigger and bought one... my 96 F-150 (w/o load) rode a tad more stiffer but I’ll find out this weekend when I load it with 2300+ lbs of bricks...

    • @ironmark6911
      @ironmark6911  5 років тому +1

      @@RELOADINGandSHOOTING Yep, it rides a little stiffer, but then again, it's a truck...That might be pushing the limit IMO.. the 1/2 ton trucks are only rated for about 800#'s of load in bed, then you add in gas, passengers, etc. and you are pushing about 1,200 #'s or so as per the owners manual/specs. With the ledgestone and all, I guess I was pushing close to 1,800 #'s total load.. be curious to see what 2,300 #'s of bricks does.

      @@ironmark6911 I read f150 can do 2200#-3300# payload, depends on your engine size..

    • @ironmark6911
      @ironmark6911  5 років тому

      @@gsmithers9061 That might be total load, which would include 6 passengers, fuel, and the payload in the bed of the truck. I am just talking payload - what you put in the bed of the truck. the owners manual has all kinds of charts in there that tell you what the total payload is, what it is made of and also how it varies by truck model, engine size, bed length, etc. I just know that an F150 is a 1/2 ton truck - 1,000 lbs, thereabouts in the bed and an F250 is 3/4 ton - 1,500 lbs. Please check with owners manual before you load the truck

    Would have been to show the process of doing it

    • @ironmark6911
      @ironmark6911  3 роки тому +1

      I thought about that, but it's really simple to do. I thought it was more important to show the before and after and how they handled the load and what it did to the ride loaded and unloaded
