When the obnoxiously positive swarmatron band meets the obnoxiously negative swarmatron band(Nine Inch Nails) they unite and become the obnoxiously neutral swarmatron band
lol Guy is fucking crazy. Dude basically introduced DAW-sequenced found sound sample based percussion to the industry with the first version of Pro Tools following in Sherwood's footsteps with what he could do on a Fairlight earlier (not nearly as much until the DAW was commonplace). His first record was the sole entry into synthpop that ostensibly refined and subsequently killed the genre as we know it a la cheesy 80's Soft Cell sounding tracks. I don't think Reznor would consider _any_ piece of equipment to be "messed up" or "wrong" save for the instruments that cut out on stage he breaks. Your "super messed up early prototypes" are perfect as far as he's concerned. Dude's probably recording vocals with a cheap IEM to a microwaved VHS-C tape right now and that alone would be *a* layer.
Interesting how a member of "The Happiest Guys in the World" would make a synthesizer to produce some of the most haunting and nihilistic soundtracks in the world.
QUESTION: I'm a a Reaktor ensembles constructor.... I realized stuff for Reaktor and with Synthedit too, in the past. I studied a bit of electronics at school and worked as an electrician; I also have MANY KILOGRAMS of electronic stuff as resistors, leds, timers, microcontrollers, etc. (from slots, arcade games and things like this....my uncle cleared a place). I'm realizing my first modular wavetable Reaktor ensembles using the new BLOCKS system (in the past I realized only FM and subtractive stuff). I want to make THE BIG STEP: buying all the things I need and build a STATE OF ART hardware 3 OSC subtractive synthesizers,, with a full MIDI interpreter. I also was thinking about the Arduino platform for managing matrix, MIDI and other.....anyone knows where can I find SCHEMATICS? I need professional stuff built by myself, please tell me, if you know....
+Patrick Adorati check out the DIY forum at electro-music.com. Filled with friendly folks and fantastic circuits! My own hardware synth was constructed almost entirely using circuits from that site! hackaday.io/project/5826-diy-mostly-analog-modular-synthesizer
I might be late to the party, but please do a google search on "synth-diy mailinglist" It's oldschool to use a mailinglist, but all the old geezers are on there. You will be amongst celebrities. And asking questions is mandatory. (or just lurk for 10 years, that's also a possibility)
If that dude's band was ridiculous in it's cheesy upbeat nature, then it only makes sense by the Law of Essence that they would make instruments for an act that is ridiculously edgy and dark!
i realy like the sounds you guys get i am realy trying to lern about building synths i build guitars and all but can aneyone pleas inbox me on wat path to go to try to lern i am lost lol donot know wear to start i want to lern like the ins and outs eavreything thery and all but thanks alot
Assuming you have a soldering iron look online for build kits and schematics, they're not hard to find and the cheaper ones tend to be easier to build and understand
This is where you end up when you go down the UA-cam NIN rabbit hole. "Vegetable Man" is a dope song, btw...
yessssss
Trent scored the whole social network movie with that green one
Love the 1940s military-electronics look and colour...
So do I. Beautiful retro appearance.
Are these the guys that made the "add violence" machine?
@@NobodyCaresALot I don't think the machine exists in the physical world, at least that we know of.
"Hey! Hey! It's the Vegetable Man!" is on Spotify with < 1000 :(
Great tune
I came for the synths but stayed for the vegetable men, lol
HEY HEY ITS THE VEGETABLE MAN!!
The Festa it's a great tune

WHAT THE FUCK AM I WATCHING

I saw Brian dewan play the teen center in Greenfield MA back in like '97. Just a dude and his autoharp. It was awesome
Pretty fucking hardcore if you make your PCB layouts in Photoshop
i wouldnt call it hardcore, theres a reason why people use actual eda programmes haha
I was there for the first performance of the Swarmatron prototype at Pierogi Gallery. It was fun and super cool.
That work sounds better than it looks, srsly, the insides looks like its a 1920s amplifier.
Wow. Just wow.
The vegetable man.
It’s like weezer, but way weirder.

Fantastic stuff
Love this video what great guys !!
one day I will have enough money o get some of these
Where the Vegetable Man & Plant Man meet
I love having this on my head thanks doc!

I was feeling the beat at 1:26
This is actually very interesting - to bad the nauseating camerawork kinda f**ks it up...
who is here because of quarantine
Is it just me or did they not even mention NIN in this video?
Yeah I came down here to say that
Excellent video.
So, wow!
Awesome!

Dewanatron, great name
Does anyone recognise the amps that can be seen in the background around 4:20? Judging by the neatness they are not Dewans :-).
+Thomas Nielsen The most knowledgeable gentleman himself informs me that it is an Electro Harmonix Freedom battery powered amplifier.
Performance art soldering? (anyone) Is that a thing? Someone please say 'yes'
Like Batman's Morgan Freeman.
we have the same studio monitors, shocking :)
looks awesomely steampunk to me
Did they hear how Adrian Belew adopted the swarmatron sound for guitar?

schrute cousins
Thumb up if you adore NERDS!!!!
Pure crust Gold ( not the band lol )
so how do you not build a synth from scratch? aside from ASSEMBLING a eurorack and eurorack modules is there a pre-built synths store?
The end credits music sounds like Driver Down by Nine Inch Nails lol
that Vegetable Man song tho!
wiring like this always makes me cringe. get some fuckin heat shrink tubing for fuck's sake
Watermelon bassist.
I thought it was going to be a black fella. Seriously. Dewan.
