- Cinema trailer for the Amicus/Aaru production of "Daleks' Invasion Earth: 2150 A.D." released in 1966 starring Peter Cushing.
Fun Facts:
This film was one of the first Doctor Who releases on VHS/Betamax in the very early 1980s alongside the first film "Dr. Who and the Daleks" through Thorn EMI Home Video.
This trailer is sourced from the "Dalekmania" documentary tape form 1995.
This film was shown a few times on Australia's pay tv platform Foxtel - it has since not been seen since around 2004.
This film was shot at Shepperton Studios alongside the James Bond film "Casino Royale". "Casino Royale" wasn't released until the following year.
This film did not do so well at the box office as it's previous film "Dr. Who and the Daleks" and thus a 3rd film based on the BBC TV Doctor Who story "The Chase" or "Dr. Who's Greatest Adventure" was scrapped.
This film was one of the first "product placement" films from Great Britain. Sugar Puffs cereal put up partial funding in return for film advertising (it's funny seeing wall ads for the cereal in a decaying London in the year 2150) and cross promotional events. - Фільми й анімація
Oh by the way, they forgot to mention it takes place in 2150 ad
*Gee, really?*
Everything looks a bit 1960s to me.
That moment when you realize Bernard Cribbins has been a companion to the Doctor twice.
Cept only one time counted.
Thrice! He was also in the Eighth Doctor story Horror of Glam Rock.
Bernard just passed away. R.I.P. you won’t be forgotten.🥲
This trailer just screams 60’s sci-fi and I love it
This was my very first "Doctor" when I was a kid. I saw this even before I saw my first episode of Star Trek.
KlingonCaptain it also helped this movie came out in 1966 and star trek started in 1969 ha ha!
KlingonCaptain my third Doctor. First was Tennant as he was on the telly as I started watching, then Smith. Cushing came at about 2011 AD, 139 years before his initial debut
"2020 AD: A year that will thrill you and terrify you!"
At least Bernard Cribbins got a much better and much more memorable Doctor Who role in the TV show. I don't think any real Whovian will forget him any time soon.
I loved it when grand moff tarkin battled the daleks, definitely my favorite star trek episode
Truly one of the movies of all time
0:31 that guy actually broke his leg doing that
That's a fun fact for us, not for him, England's stuntman pool was dry it seems. that's quite a fall
This was my first exposure to doctor who and the daleks. I loved this movie, its extremely close to my heart
Bernard cribbins - 29/12/28 - 28/07/22. A gentleman and legend.
And first man on the Moon.
The dalek shipused in this movie was also used in a film called the body stealers You only see it at the end but it's the same ship
my brother used to watch this with me when i was about 7-8, i love this film
In case you didn't notice, it's 2150 AD in the movie.
I wish they made movie adverts like that now
1:40 Pretty sure most human beings have necks...
Lmao
Starring Johnny, he has a toe
Both Dalek movies are brilliant. Pure entertainment. Love the rich colour texture to the movie.
How is this supposed to be the future? Buildings, clothes, cars and hairstyles are all contemporary for '66! Ah, marvelous stuff :)
sad to know this is a real prediction of the future
Who laughs his ass off when they just throw a freaking dalek down a ramp and it explodes?
Why do people hate this movie!? I fucking love it!
It's probably just that it's just a few episodes adapted badly. Why watch the movie when the canon version has all the actors you already love and is canon to what you've already gotten into? But that's just my two cents. Everyone is entitled to their opinion after all.
Also the Doctor being a human named Dr. Who probably pissed some people off.
Arnie13000 Yeah but the thing is the canon versions are like 3 parts too long and drag out something rotten. The characters are definitely better in the TV versions but plot wise these have a much better understanding of pace.
What the heck? Wilfred Mott is in that movie? (The actor playing him anyway)
has anyone seen the evil of frankenstein?
peter cushing did a great job in it
RIP Bernard Cribbins...
RIP Bernard Cribbins
looks like that soccer match riot escaleted quickly :V
Football, it's the UK in this film. Your comment was still amusing though.
Comforting to see that cloth caps and 1960's clothing will still be in fashion in 2150.
ok we will be driving 60's cars commonly haha they'll still be driven but not like that
loud5videos in the film, they take it from a museum.
This is the only translated film of Doctor Who that we have in italy, and they keep transmit it on Rai4 in fantastic resolution. We also had 3rd/4th Doctor Who episodes translated, but only 4th Doctor's episodes were registrated in italian with colour and 3rd Doctor's episodes are lost forever.
The bad thing about having to start dubbing a season after countless season is the fact that they literally called the dtoctor "Doctor Who" to make you understand who was the protagonist.
Also, I tough this movie wasn't extremely great. I mean, the scene where they throw the Dalek down the ramp and it just explodes? The Dalek can't get hurt by bombs but they are destroyed by a car? Or the Dalek getting distracted by the Doctor pointing at a random direction? They had the story from the official series, but it's like they had to fill in some gaps with random actions.
And let's not forget the time-continuum breaking for the movie finale.
All of the Third Doctor's episodes are extant (at least in English - not sure if you're talking about their Italian translations.)
@@stephlass5253 in the beginning daleks didn't even have their own power, if you isolated them from the ground they had no electricity to move around (sorta like bumper cars lol) so I think it makes sense they were also very weak outside the radiation shields they use as bodies
@@Red-vo3sk I thought they existed with the italian dub but I was wrong, only the 4th doctor made it to Italy before the 2005 reboot
So, this takes place in 1985, right?
It was made in 1966 and set in 2150. Where did you get 1985 from?
@jezz2k i think he was making a joke reference to back to the future
200 year old car on the road at 1:00
RIP Bernard Cribbins.
Note that the words "Doctor Who" are never mentioned or seen in the trailer!
Tarkin should send stormtroopers to defeat Daleks.
He be killed by the Daleks! Remember the Daleks have a much more vast and powerful empire and fleet than the Imperial Galactic Empire!
Jamie Olberding send the Death Star
I was totally scared and hiding behind the seatte!
For all those asking: Peter Cushing is Grand Moff Tarkin in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope...
Parallel Earth Dr. Who looks interesting! Wonder how they'd handle Weeping Angels, Silurians, and Autons? Or even the dreadfully cute Adipose!?
Looks great.
Funny how the Dalek ship looks like a mutated yellow submarine :)
Just in case no-one got that, it's 2150 AD....
I just noticed something: Peter Cushing's outfit is nearly the same as Sylvester McCoy's from the final season of the "classic" TV series. I wonder if that was intentional? Probably not, but it's interesting to think about.
I didn't notice that at first, and now I think about it, it seems almost intentional.
Best scifi 60s scifi❤️
Can you imagine edit the dalek beams
the writters were Milton Subotsky and David Whitaker this and the first movie were adaptations of the first dalek stories to introduce a version of the doctor to america
*"AT 2150 AD!"*
Vintage vehicles pretty big in the future then. Nothing changes.
Hey maybe I’ll get it on Blu Ray for Christmas 🎄
What year is it set in?
i wonder wot year this is in ?
I wish that character was able to make movie daleks
What year is this set :P?
Does anyone else notice that they never say the words Daleks Doctor Who or Tardis?
Probably to give it more appeal to the American market, where most of them had never heard of the Daleks or Doctor Who. British audiences watching the trailer would have noticed it was full of Daleks.
This film and doctor who and the Daleks are the best films made of the Daleks it's a shame they don't make a new film it would be marvellous if they did iam sure with the modern techniques they would be brilliant imagine the extermination effects now it would look great and a new Dalek space ship (I saw these films when they first came out I thought they were marvellous then ) iam sure a modern film today would look great the Daleks are the best in my eyes and good old davros
Yeah I want a stand alone movie or a TV show just about daleks and the different wars they were in
Or a movie just about the Time War
Yes, it certainly would be interesting to see what they could achieve with today's technology. What could the storyline be based on? On another note, I personally preferred the late great Bernhard Cribbins to say Roy Castle. Though Roy was good. The two Dalek movies made back then were so good. Never tire watching them.
@@absoluteacw yes I can’t imagine a better enemy than the Daleks for Doctor who I don’t know who could take the place of Bernhard Cribbins or Roy Castle I think Catherine Tate or Billy Piper would be good in a new modern Doctor who Film I Don’t know whether the film would be good in modern day or not or in the past or Even in the near future its a wonder they have not made one Before now [ just to Say i have a few models of Daleks as well ]
Excelllent Trailer! but how many times can you say '2150!!!'. He said it 6 times and wrote it once. I have it in my head now
I'm thrilled and terrifed.
The Daleks resemble angry kettles in these films.
First he made a Tardis
Then he made a Death Star
Why don't they make trailers like this anymore?
Because it is quite szánalmas
this is literally my favourite movie, i think it might ave something to do with the fact i watched it all the time if i was sick and had a day off school
What year is this film set in?
A 1940s van still being used in 2150?
ATTENTION. No chicken was harmed in the production of this motion picture. But it was a close thing!
Jill Curzon reminds me of Pamela Ann Davy
This movie explains that the people were run away, and get rid of the Old Red, Blue and Black Daleks
Hang on a minute, what year did this take place? 21..50 AD? Oh ok got it
1:32 - Anyone else come here because of Bernard Cribbins and Topless Robot?
The people look like extras from the movie Oliver
@terriblethomas101 Well 2150 AD but if you turn the 5 upside down and rearrange the numberings you get 2012...
As a child of the 60's I grew up watching these "Spotty Dustbins" on tv, and
back then I thought they seemed quite menacing, especially on our old 405
line B/W tv. I think, looking back, it was the voices that made them seem scary.
Now, looking back over 50 years later, they just seem so pathetic. How can
something that can only move on perfectly flat surfaces, with limited movement
take over the earth? Still, they were an iconic design, that scared us kids back then.
aaargh but they learnt to fly.... up staircases and around in the sky....
That's what Jon Pertwee said as well... "How can
something that can only move on perfectly flat surfaces, with limited movement
take over the earth?"
Where everyone drives vintage vehicles lol.
I guess there was a revival of sixties fashion right before the Daleks invaded
Bernard Cribbins in his only Doctor Who appearance. Right...?
***** I know, I was having a joke, but thanks anyway :)
look at the cars xD
Fun fact: the commercial failure of this film caused a planned adaption of _The Chase_ to be dropped.
Bob Jones The Chase was a rubbish story. They should have tried to adapt Masterplan instead. It would almost make up for the fact that a LOT of it is missing don't you think?
dear god yes
Maybe that's because people realized why go pay to see the film when they already saw exactly the same story on TV for free.
pacetti07 first, tv isn't free, second, doctor who stories were only shown once back then. In fact, the first (and only for at least a long while) airing of the chase happened before Dr.Who and the Daleks( the movie that came before Daleks- Invasion Earth (2150 A.D.)) came into theaters so the future of the franchise was unknown and they might have missed the chase. Third, those films weren't in parts and in full color and it was pretty exciting.
What year is this set in?
2150 ad a year were daleks invade earth 2150 ad a terrifying year to be alive
2150 ad
@tamashdene Watching this on TCM now. Thought the same thing!
Odd that a British trailer for a movie based on "Doctor Who" doesn't mention the show, itself. Good movie, though.
How many times are they gonna say 2150 AD??? I mean really?!?!?!?!
At 1:03 you can tell one of the Daleks is hollow inside... whoops! :/
NO NOT DALKES
At least Bernard Cribbins got a much better and much more memorable Doctor Who role in the TV show. I don't think any real Whovian will forget him any time soon.
This is Terry Nation thinking he is bigger than the BBC and making a big cash-in at the time... :(
Eeeeeeexxxxxxxxxxxttttttttttttttttttttttttttteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrmmmmmmmmiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnaaaaaaaatttttttteeeeeeew
The peter cushing doctor isnt even classifide as a doctor at the very least they could have had Hartnenell do the film...
YNotZoidberg no they couldn't
He's classified as a Doctor by me, and a lot of other fans of the movies.
My god, they really used to suck at making trailers
That has got to be the worst Doctor Who trailer I have ever seen
obvious troll is obvious.
Actually a real movie
What a fucking awful trailer.
That is the most crap alien spaceship EVER. Looks like a tea pot.
RIP Bernard Cribbins
