my dad has a twin flywheel blackstone, they used to start it with compressed air but the bottle has been condemed, im wondering if we could start it from a compressor (large tank) but its 150psi does anyone know if it would start it ?? hopeing to get it going for his 91st birthday in a few weeks !!! many thanks and great vid
@@davelowets , Nah i've actually seen the same one now that i remember , It's the 1936 32D 4 cylinder Diesel model , and it is a Fairbanks Morse engine . How do i know that ? Well , ALL the Fairbanks Morse engine models produce roughly the same sound regardless of their size when they start running ! At least all the ones i heard did ...
Man with Lister CS.... You don't need to turn the engine over that many times to start it ! couldn't you hear the terrible knocking when it first started ???? I have two CS/6's and they start after no more than two revolutions of the flywheel, and they don't knock like yours... you are allowing too much diesel to enter the combution chamber just like the chap with the LD1, over fuel them and they are harder to start....!
I love the way the way the diesel engines start and run its fjn to watch them
What a nice, injury-free way to start up engine #2!
Amazing old engines
1:12 nice starter.
That first Lister sounded like a ballpein hammer was let loose in a empty tank.
Yep. Being a diesel, they sounded like that.
Класс!!! При таких оборотах ресурс движка тысячи моточасов...

Nice music from old engine
The first one is just woow.
Don't care if it's a Ferrari V 12 or a single cylinder Lister, there is nothing like hearing a project engine light off for the first time.
Totally agree! That must be an awesome feeling after going through hours upon hours in the garage
3:50 its all just fiboncci spirals
I have a komatsu d30 with OM352 and love the sound of old diesel engines
That's awesome. Let me know, if you want it featured on my channel for others to see.

Sure. A large enough electric compressor would do the job.
Just from the way the second engine sounds i would say it's a Fairbanks Morse , which model ? I don't know !!!
I don't think it's an FM.

@@baptisteramiro1918 The 1930s FM's were all 2 strokes. The one in the video is not, its a 4 stroke.
I like
7:00 using an engine to start an engine
The small starter engine is called a "pony motor". Quite common in the early days.
