I really hope they optimise the voting system so instead of voting what you think about a build, you will have to choose between 2 builds what one you think is the best. That way the voting should be alot fairer.
I think pixel art doesn’t count in just build simply because it’s flat and takes minimal effort. The best builds to me are people who put that effort in for that 5 / 10 mins making a 3d detailed structure based off the theme. :)

If you think about it in a minecraft world just pixel art would be boring, whereas a whole scene based off the theme with different layers is so much better.
i build an amongus on the topic 'anything' and voted fairly (like lime or green) on people's build, at the end, i didnt even get 3rd place, and i was the only one not on the leaderboard because only 4 players (including me)
When making planets I make it 3x3 and I use craters as blackstone buttons and wither skulls, and they take me seriously bc I vote seriously and meh if it's off topic and good if it's actually good
i don't play just build always But if there is a quest like uh (place 100 blocks/200 blocks) then i do it for 30 or 20 qp yay then i complete quest, then i queue, i wanna learn how to build decently lol
Most of the time I go on solo then make something really fast and normally win there's my tip build in like a small cute style and make more then one things I normally win bc of that =)
Pixel art... It can look good, but you gotta remember it takes way less effort to make something 2d than it does 3d. If the pixel art is good obviously give it good but just keep the amount of work in mind. Btw JUST BUILD HACKS

honestly i always get top one on most rounds but here are my tips if you want to get better 1. spam blocks in places that actually make sense 2. mix blocks that compliment with each other's colors 3. go ambitious, but not too ambitious 4. if you don't know what to do when it comes to certain themes, google build battle pro mode versions of that theme and try to make something similar to those builds, but don't do those landscaping ones because you require pro tools which let you copy, paste and fill stuff pretty easily.
The reason its the hardest is bc of the 9 years olds who cant see and be smart enough to understand how the build works, especially ur moon build losing to a build with the default floor and the Queen theme with a off topic build as the winner
I grinded just build for months and when I got max level I wanted to cry of happiness
