I have a friend who has lost his index finger in a factory accident. This is awesome. I will print it for him.
@Finn Nordaas Student yup he has almost the same finger as nicholas and we have already taken the meassurements. Ive bought a cr-10s por v2, it arrives on late august. I will upload the results as soon as i can.

Made one of these for my uncle after he lost his middle finger in a freak accident at work. He wears it all the time but substitute a cloth screen cleaner as protection from constant rubbing between the plastic and skin

My dad lost most of his ring finger and half of his middle finger. Although he is in the UK and I'm in Maryland, we are building them together - with me mailing packages over to him every two weeks to try out :) He sees his surgeon on a monthly basis and everyone who sees the prototype (including his surgeon) thinks this is awesome! Great work Nick and thanks so much for sharing the plans.

I recently lost my left index finger. I am definitely going to print one of your designs, but I'm just waiting for the swelling to go down before I take the measurements. Just out of curiosity how long did it take for the swelling in your finger to go down?

May I ask why you have to wear a whole other rig for this one finger? I mean why not adopt such stretch into the base of the finger itself, or use torsion springs that could fit in the joints, after finding the right tension?
I’m genuinely asking because I want to surprise a friend with one of these. I’ve been going through some concepts, like the X-finger, Naked Prosthetics, etc. My friend has joked how he’d want a prosthetic finger in exposed metal, so he can look like a James Bond villain, and seeing as I have a home machine shop, I want to make one out of metal, I just can’t land on which concept(s).
How did you design the string mecheanism , where the upper part from the pully is actually attached

@@nsbrookins I was wondering which model 3D printer you used or which you recommend?
I use a flashforge which is a makerbot clone. The most important thing is making sure it will print with ninjaflex or other tpu/tpe, the softer rubber-like material for the socket. Almost all printers can do it, but sometimes need modifications to ensure they don’t bind up.
You should be able to get something pretty nice for $300 USD or less, depending on brand and bells and whistles. It doesn’t need to have a large area, and I always print at a very slow speed anyway for better detail.
@@nsbrookins Could you share exactly which model you used or one comparable. There are so many on the Flashforge site. I'm a 3d printer noob. I am relatively technically proficient (software eng ~ 20 years) used to play around with 3D modeling tool like Lightwave and 3D Studio for fun years ago, but haven't done any work with 3D printing before.

Last year my male roommate physically assaulted me, as result the index and middle finger are damaged, I still have them but the index is straight? (Sorry my english is not at good level) I can’t move it; but the middle I could move it again THANKS to your vídeos. I have an idea to make a design base on yours to a finger that’s still there but can not move properly. I would like to share it with you; my partner is helping me and we already did a 1.0, maybe you could helps us make it better 😊

is it possible to print this when i‘m missing only the last finger segment?
It doesn't have configuration to allow for that. I don;t think it works as well because the strong can get in the way, but I know some have made them and tried them!

There's a project called e-nable that makes whole hands. They gave me the idea to make a more intricate 3D printed finger prosthetic. As mentioned, if missing all fingers - you can do multiple too!
