It feels like Hoyoverse artists always understand the assignment when they're told to make the games look fine af. Istg their games from Themis to Genshin and Honkai the 3rd, to ZZZ and Star Rail, they all look so good. Regardless of what you think of the company or the games themselves, the art direction for these games are all just so juicy. The artists pour so much into everything From how the characters are meticulously designed with a balance of light and shadow, colors, drawing the eye, cultural references, etc. How the environments appear. The visual effects and rendering and animation too. They know how to strike a perfect balance.
Honestly, this is the first time Mihoyo's gotten it truly "right" on the animation. Their previous games (Genshin, Honkai/Star Rail, etc..) all have kinda soulless/lifeless animation, especially in-engine/in-world. ZZZ actually pops with vibrance, soul, style and liveliness -- they've finally hired talented animators.
Disregarding the incredible layers of roundness this game has for just a moment, some of these low-angle shots are insanely cool. Full of attitude and personality, and the buttery smooth transition to and from animations just tickles that itch that so many developers just don't seem to appreciate. If there's one thing Mihoyo does well, it's that their aesthetic is always killer.

Lycaon's design is what an actual furry artist would design. Not the ones you see on popular western media but instead by asian furry artists. Gacha games with furries in them actually hire well known furry artists in the fandom like arknights, sdorica and alchemy stars for example. Though it's not confirmed if hoyo hired a furry artist or not but by the looks of Ben and Lycaon it's safe to say that they did.
I know y'all are mainly talking about Nicole, but can we talk about how Aokaku at 3:32 has a different animation for the skills menu? That freaking cool.
I love how you still manage to resist Nekomata but Lycaon just activate our hidden furry side. That and I'm weak to that vest suit, gentlemen demeanor and the fact that he's a good boy 😩
These animations look very fluid, and given the fact that the game is still in development just shows how much effort miHoYo/HoYoVerse put to deliver the best user experience to their players. I don't mind them taking a long time to develop the game, its better than releasing a half-baked game (looking at you Cyberpunk, although it's in a better state now).
I have only know this game for a day, and I can say the plot is so good. It's so thick and rich, totally recommended 👍. Especially Nicole's plot. You can't help but feel so emotional seeing her plot.
Now that star rail's released, I'm pretty excited to what this game has to offer since it feels the most distinct out of all three main popular hoyoverse games, atleast animation wise.
I was expecting them to just make animations that could be easily reversed without looking too out of place but no, they actually went and made an animation for each screen, transitioning to each screen and when you transition in reverse, it’s easy to see on Aokaku where when you go from Stats to Skills she just poses but when you go from Equip to Skills she actually puts on her mask HYV really does hire developers that think “I haven’t put enough work into this game until everything is perfect”

Nicole is so WELL DONE DESIGN for a Waifu. It takes the Bremerton design and makes it plain. And it's not a bad thing. Every Bremerton copy is a good design.
Mihoyo other games characters usually carefully made to appeal to audience with standard cute, handsome, pretty, hot, sexy. But in this one the characters actually have their own unique flair.
So, this is where all my paid primos went xD. Can't complain, there is a pink-haired girl, and that is reasom enough for me to play. That aside, dude, I like furry art, though the fandom is...unique, I love how detailed they are, and the level of dedication the artists have. Kudos to the artists, the wolf dude and the bear are so freaking badass it's crazy.
It has just so much freaking style man, HSR sorta took the combat from persona but this seems to be taking style and damn I'm all for it.... And my god characters look good like they have a big bear holy shit, those guys are awesome
This has made me realize that the animation carries so hard when it comes to making a character look appealing, in addition to their overall art/character design. Like, I find many of these characters to be more attractive (as far as virtual anime people go) than mihoyo’s characters from other games, and I think the key difference is simply the amount of time and effort put into the animation.
