Here’s a popular fan theory that might help understand the full scope of GY!BE’s first four releases: they’re a timeline for the end of the world. Skinny Fists is before (hopeful (Storm) with warning signs and dread creeping through (Sleep)), this EP is right before (interviewee giving the final warning, with instrumentals that represent one final push against the apocalypse), Yanqui UXO is during the end (vocal samples and found sounds replaced with abrasiveness, representing war), and finally F#A# Infinity, obviously taking place in the aftermath, the rotting corpse of a post-war world. Pretty damn good
I believe an excerpt of East Hastings was used in the film “28 Days Later,” which goes with your point that the post-apocalyptic feel of GYBE would work perfectly in a movie setting
Dave, I've noticed you really enjoy string compositions a whole lot. When you said it's "apocalyptic" in the first section, the strings are in syncopation with one another, when they're played slightly off-key. They used an in-layed vocalized sampling, which why the work doesn't sound overpowering or intimidating. There is some good psychology they used and I appreciate your "possessed" nature at its best.
Dude I was just listening to this album today hoping you’d react to it! This is definitely in my opinion the greatest EP of all time, honestly one of the greatest pieces of music ever made too
that 'rapping' bit is him reciting virus by iron maiden line for line lmaooooooo i love every bbf3 segment in their discog (he showed up on the beginning of providence on f sharp) because it's taking these incoherently thought positions and trying to show the small bits of awakened class consciousness in these people. politics time (warranted since every member of gybe is anarchist especially efrim menuck to the point that the tsa stopped these guys on a random flight in 03 bc they thought they were terrorists lmao), but it reminds me a lot of how some activists like sophie from mars would describe the idea of class consciousness as not something exclusively left-wing where fascism can attempt to ensnare people by awakening a false class consciousness by unveiling a "truth" (which is obviously not a truth) where's it's all the jews/Black ppls'/marginalised ppls' fault somehow.

The song used in 28 Days Later was “The Sad Mafioso” from their first LP, F#A#(infinity)
