- George Eastman, founder of the Eastman Kodak Company, was an inventor, entrepreneur and a man who found a better and less expensive way to take photographs and in the process became one of America's wealthiest men. His home in Rochester, New York is now a museum devoted to the history of photography and film. I toured this museum in 1990. As soon as I entered the museum, I saw some of the photographs taken by the famous photographer Edward Weston. My mouth fell open because that's my father's name and I love photography! I was truly inspired!
Dad worked at Kodak. As a kid I remember a few Brownie cameras lying around the house.
It's a fantastic place to visit. Makes you want to just slip past the velvet ropes and hang out. Those torchieres on either side of the central stairs are out of this world!

He took care of his employees. When he heard about his employees not being able to afford dental care, he had a dental clinic built. Employees paid what they could afford. Adjusted for inflation, the price for a visit was less than thirty dollars. He was a capitalist who valued the people who made his company what it was. ☺

He committed suicide. He had amental defect. All credibility out the window. He dd not die with dignity. His company went belly-up and inflicted greater hardship on the city and those who worked years for Kodak, only to be cheated-out in the end.
