I also work with computers and most of the times, heating issue just caused by Dirty Heat sink, fully used thermal pads.
    Nice work you did there

Friend of mine had the same problem: overheating running into throttling with 100W power draw).
Cleaning, repaste, new pads; everything fine now.
Btw i find the title a bit misleading.
Just because the chip is cooler now, it doesn't mean its dissapating less heat into the room.
In fact it may be the exact opposite, since the cooler can now dissapate more heat again now and the card isn't running into thermal throttling too early .

People think that a computer doesn't need service. Many computers/consoles only need a good cleaning and they will work again.
I have been using filter in my computer cases as long as i remember. I do need to clean them once a month, but it keeps the computer very clean inside.
I use a compressed air to clean my fans and coolers, but remember to hold the fans, so they won't spin. It can damage the bearings when spinning very fast (10000 rpm).

Well it depends where you get it serviced. I charge $50 to get this Job done. Complete cleaning with fresh paste and new pads. Like in the video.
