I just realised the moment at 6:40, when Prompto hesitates before picking up the tart, is a callback to his weight loss. He's possibly afraid of gaining weight again and subsequently losing his friendship with Noctis (even though we know Noct wouldn't do that to him). And yet, in the present day, he's eager to go out for food, possibly showing that he's grown more relaxed and comfortable in their friendship. Consistency in the tiny details like this is what makes this anime so charming.
You might actually be right about that. I had a friend in college, who before I met her in college was heavy in high school, lost a ton of weight, and she would sometimes give sweets the same kind of look too.
Yeah definitely a throw back to that. Ignis hints at it too when Prompto asks about hitting up the Crow’s Nest. “If you wish to put on some weight? Certainly.” I love how real these characters feel. The anime just adds so much to it. It’s what saved the game I think. For all it’s shortcomings, the characters and their relationships make you feel something. It keeps me coming back to it.
I also like the parallel between the fight scene at 12:05 and the fight scene at the end of episode 3. Noctis pouts and gives up like last time, showing how he is reverting back to his childish ways and doesn't want to accept the responsibility of being a prince. And this time, Gladio knows that yelling at Noctis more won't help and tries to connect with him instead in the hopes that it'll encourage him to improve.
I think FFXV doesn't have the best story, but I absolutely love the character development on the four. Little things are so good and noticeable even in game.
+Frederick Bingley they already have DLC's in progress, but I'm quite positive there won't be a sequel, the dev team are very much against sequels, which is one of the reasons why they made a movie, anime, 2 retro games, the game itself and the DLC's.
gladio is the protector of the group. ignis is the responsible one prompto keeps everyone's spirit up to keep the group from being too serious in life Noctis is the potential one to be a great combination from all 3 to take up as the leader he was born to be. All 4 = great friendship.
there "like" brothers but none related, gladios father is the kings shield, ignis family was suposedly good friends of the kings, they both died and he kinda stuck around, the king kinda looks after him like a second child, promtos father died in the war, (or so it seems) his mom is or was always at work when he was a kid, hes the only one of nocts party who is a commoner, gladio would be if his family line hadnt served as the bodyguards of the last several kings, ignis his family were high up nobles if story was correct
This was pretty cool, but I'm disappointed that we didn't get to see how Ignis was drafted in as Noctis' full time nanny. Imagine explaining that to your kid at a young age, _"You will serve this kid for the rest of your life. You will cook, clean, nag, sew and will not rest until you fix every little flaw he points out in your efforts to please him. Forever and ever. Have fun son!"_
Yeah, it is rather messed up huh lol? Ignis was basically indoctrinated to become the perfect manservant, there is no room in his life for anything or anyone else. Is it any wonder the guy's a bit... emotionally stunted? I feel so sorry for Ignis, he was raised to be Noctis's butler and advisor till the day he died but then Noctis dies at the end of FFXV and like what does he have to live for? His whole reason for living is gone. Kinda hate how they killed off Noctis, I swear, the two of them deserve better than that.
I love how at the start of the episode the group is frustrated about being forced to camp and Ignis takes their feelings to heart and turns around to give them a comfy place to rest, contrasting his younger self who probably would've kept driving while only thinking of getting the prince to his destination ASAP despite what they wanted.
Noctis, the cool middle kid who girls always fell into. But actually, behind that cool attitude he is pretty sarcastic, lazy, and a smartass. Gladio, the big brother who will protect everyone and charge into the fight head first. Prompto, the youngest brother who always get the pointy end of the stick and a comedian, but the best friend of middle kid and liked by everyone. Also, without him, the group will be less interesting and full of silent cool dudes. Ignis... uuh the mum?

It's also useless. Oh cool, you can increase your Magic to hit 9999 damage on spells with less element usage but you do pitiful damage with non-magic. Yay.
Noctice ether has a amazing memory when it comes to taste to remember how a great desert he only ate ones or a few times as a kid. Or, he's just constantly saying its not tasting exactly the same just so Ignis will make another the next day so he can keep eating good deserts. XD
If it's the former, then I'm amazed at his good memory. But if it's the latter, then Noct is one sly son of a chocobo (and I'm gonna take notes from this lol).
+Aprime It goes deeper than flavor. The repeated attempts to mimic the pastry are a symbolic representation of Noctis becoming a king like his father. The reason this specific recipe hasn't been replicated is because Noctis still hasn't developed all of the right traits, "ingredients" if you will, to be able to rule. He is still young and afraid - burdened by the war, his father, and the safety of his kingdom. But while he is not ready to take on the throne yet, in time he will find his identity and the strength to lead the legacy his father has left him.
I noticed that Noctis sleeps A LOT in the anime. and I mean REALLY A LOT. He's always napping and sleeping in the car or on the bed xD Here we have a Prince who is stubborn, lazy, sarcastic, sleepy and sometimes childish. I know I'm gonna love the anime, the game and the movie so much! Love the characters
I can actually quite relate to Noctis. Before my father past away last year, he was sick for years too, and seeing him suffer and knowing it won't become better made me scarred. No wonder Noctis was so aggressive. Fuck this feels! :(
My father's illness was much shorter, only 6 months, but I know these feels as well. We're brothers through sympathy. I relate to these shorts as well and years later, they still help me cope.
I mean, in the bonus Luna scene, he was shown to have written to Luna with a picture of Ignis with a tray and the caption "too sweet". So it's probably actually an inside joke between Noctis and Luna, and also a way to get Ignis to bake lel.
I love how this episode really brings forth Noctis' depression that started after his attack/escape from Tenebrae. It's apparent in the other episodes but this one hits home. The apathy, the avoidance, the disregard of cleaning up after himself, going to the arcade as an emotional escape, Noctis has a heavy weight on him enough from his expected accession as king but the weight on his mind is nearly as great if not greater. Confessing that he doesn't think he's right to be king, that he's not strong enough, shows the one thing that he's afraid of: Of becoming king and not being good enough.
To me, this felt more like him just being worried in general of becoming king because of his father's death. When Ignis kept going on and on about him eventually ascending to the throne, it's the hinting at Regis's death that finally causes Noctis to yell at him. He doesn't want to lose his father but the only way he'll ever become king...is on his father's deathbed. What a depressing thought. Seeing his father with a cane, the energy being sapped out of him by the Crystal to uphold the Wall, didn't help matters. I'm sure he's certainly worried about the kind of king he'll be one day but first...he has to lose his father and that terrifies him.
This dessert as so much meaning. Noctis saying " not quite " at the end. It could also be referencing to him not being ready yet to be the King. And if we associate the desert with Tenebrae,it could mean that he is not ready yet to confess his love to Luna ( which Tabata spoken about ). This episode really helps us to understand that Ignis is kind-of the mother figure that Noctis never really had,and it's very cool to see that.
Also he has so much loyalty and he brings the maturity in the group,he is the one who thinks correctly at everything,the most rational one,he is the guy who can calm the other guys if they are being anxious and that's a perfect role for him.
Luke WalkingMoonTree Wow.. no,not at all. It's Prompto x Cindy,Prompto is in love with Cindy for a while. And the guy i see the least being a traitor is Ignis. In one of the trailers we see the three guys from the group,but Prompto isn't there. I don't say that he is a traitor but maybe.
I appreciate Ignis' stoicism. His body and facial expressions are static, but he clearly cares about not only Noctis, but his duties and his king. The only problem is. . . .Ignis' social skills are clearly asinine. He tries to appeal to people's reason rather than their wants or senses of purpose, and that's GOOD. It's an excellent character flaw for someone so studious and stoic. Notice when Noctis shouts him out Ignis just throws his head onto the drivers wheel and sits there wondering: "Why?"
I also LOVE that Noctis has a distaste for veggies. It makes him feel so much more human, and that simple thing adds so much depth. Same with Prompto and his childhood obesity, and his love for photography.
And that's the development of Ignis from his childhood! At first he didn't understand Noctis' feeling but current Ignis/in-game Ignis, he finally understand. Lots people here comment that Noctis is the only one who got character development in this episode. The truth is Ignis too but not as clear as other characters. His way of thinking is changing, almost similar as Gladio but "softer"
But in the end, he did end up getting the right recipe. After you eat the most expensive food in Altissia, Ignis gets a new recipe called the "Memory Lane Pastry" (or something like that) and it completely resembles these pastries. It also gives one of the best stat boosts "prime".
The moment when Noct saw his dad on TV and realized how far he had deteriorated was a really effective moment. Though they explained it further in the episode they really didn't need too, the look on his face said everything. And that's damn hard to pull off.
this makes episode ignis hit even harder. Ignis was practically his elder brother/mother and he lost his eyesight for him amongst other things all to see noctis to end and unfortunately to his death
I'll be honest here i kinda actually like Noctis's dad, he just seems like a great king and a good father to Noctis. I mean sometimes in cartoons, animes, movies, video games, comics, mangas or whatnot or whatever you see on it's kinda always the main or side character or whatnot who has a dad who is king or emperor or whatever that always be a jerk to their kids and always treating others miserable and wants to rule the world or something because they gone mad with power i don't know, Lelouch's dad from Code Geass or Zoku's dad from Avatar for example. But Noctis's dad seems like a great person so pure hearted and not being a dick to his son or letting the power go to his head or something or whatever. And i actually like the fact that Noctis cares for his dad, just like i said with the cartoons and anime and such sometimes it always the kid who hates their dad even though the dad is actually good, i don't know that's just my guess. But yeah Noctis's dad a great man and Noctis caring for his old man, i like it.
Kinda reminds me how Tidus from X also hates his dad. While Jecht was a dick at times, he did truly love Tidus, but just didn't know how to show it. Though the main reason Tidus hates his dad is because his mom ignores him whenever Jecht is around. It just never really made sense to me.
Orihara Kanra It's mostly because because of his mother. The attitude thing was part of it, but that's because Tidus was little, and didn't realize that Jecht was doing that on purpose to try and toughen him up, since he didn't know how to show any affection. It wasn't until late in the game where Tidus finally realized that, however, so you are still technically right.
Wouldn't you rather the game was delayed and 'made right' before launch or have another No Man's Sky? lol It's only a couple of months and should be worth the wait I'm sure. 🖒
Omabroodje It's not always the case but Japanese studios do tend to have a better discipline when it comes to releasing games when they're ready compared to Western studios who just want them out no matter what before Christmas etc. The 2 month delay gives me a little more time to get the money together for the collector's edition anyway... 😂
+Marvin James No Man's Sky was sorta delayed multiple times, from what I recall, and look how it turned out. They could delay it any number of times and the game would still never be perfect. That said, I trust SE knows what they're doing so I don't mind the wait myself.
I love how the awkward tension between them during the flashback didnt just...vanish after their talks with Gladio, it's more like they worked around it with compromise and leaving things unsaid but still implied, which is not easy to convey without some view into the characters thoughts, kudos to A1 pictures for this
I want to know more about Ignis' family background. How did he get to be so responsible, and duty driven, and good with throwing knives?! Did he ever compete on the Lucis equivalent of "Chopped"? I genuinely feel bad that the other characters take him for granted. Can you imagine how amazing it would be to have a firend/bodyguard/butler who cooks for you and drives you round in a luxury car?

I love the gang's diverse personalities. And these "origin" stories really help you to understand and develop a bond with each character. It shows how much of a family they are, and how their unique personalities affect each other.
I learned one thing from this epsiode Most teengers live just like Noctis,messy room,and struggle educations and especially can't cook. Conclusion: everyone wish have a wife or husband like Ignis-_-(We wish).
I love the amount of detail and the quality of animation put into these episodes. like when Noct and Ignis are in the apartment, you can hear the ambient noises of the place like the air conditioning.
I love how in one scene there are cars, phones, modern aparments and the next scene is old people dressed like wizards in an immaculately designed ancient magic era room lol
great backstory. i feel like i know these men on this mission. i have a bond with them. this has to be the theme of final fantasy xv: bonding and friendship. definitely a game need in this day and age. noctis is very relatable. that a huge responsibility he has to take and it's on his lap because the only family he truly has, is on the verge of death. it's something he wish he could stop but he can't. he feels helpless but slowly realizes the people around me are the ones he needs to grow as prince and ultimately a man. that's awesome character development for him and ignis. now i am clamoring to play the game so i can get to tenebrae and learn how to make that pastry perfect for noctis. that's great storytelling
I love the subtle metaphor of the pastry here: Like never stopping from trying to get the taste/texture right, Ignis is trying to become more empathetic, compassionate, and patient outside of the demands set by his duty and job--and his relationship with Noct has become the stage on which this is all allowed to unfold. He is trying to distinguish and build upon how to become a better person, and not just a better adviser/chamberlain/tutor/housekeeper. Iggy is actively trying to view and understand Noct as a person, son, friend, and brother-in-arms, and not just as the prince, Regis' only gem, the heir to the throne, a politician, and a soldier on the battlefield. I love how Iggy's own relentless quest for perfection, not wanting to compromise, which in the beginning, worked against him, has become his greatest strength.

I love how Noctis isn't the typical royal brat. Don't get me wrong, he can be kinda bratty but not in a normal way. He wants to be normal sometimes, is actually kind and caring, stresses out about his future, and genuinely cares about his fathers' health as well as not even wanting to think about his dad dying despite the fact he rarely sees him.
I'm happy that they're taking their time to show each characters connection with Noctis but also to show their personalities and experience's of how they grew up. Makes it more meaningful and makes the characters more relatable and alive, instead of being just a regular person in some game.
Poor Ignis, you can really see the tiredness and sadness in his eyes in this. Ignis has no life outside of Noctis 😓, he lives in a tiny little apartment, attends meetings on Noctis’ behalf and spends the rest of the time training at the citadel 😓.
I think that's Ignis' fault, to a certain extent. Gladio did say in episode one that he babies him. I'm sure he's able to do other things but he feels so responsible for Noctis that it's consumed his life. Honestly, I think if someone gave Ignis a week off to do whatever he wanted, he'd go mad without being able to attend to Noctis, lol! Noctis IS his life!
I actually love the father-son dynamic between Ignis and Noct. You also see the toll his father’s degrading health takes on Noctis. Final Fantasy XV’s Characterization is Incredible.
I love how relatable Noctis and Prompto are! That and the relationship of Ignis with Noctis is beyond important. I wish this was presented in the game thoroughly. Though I just recently learned about Versus XIII and I would love to see the original take of them, I have gotten to warm up to this one finally after a few years
Noct is the opposite. As girls are always coming to him. Lol still like Prompto though. Kind of makes sense. As a kid he was fat. So he never talked to girls.
Noctis is pretty relatable for me. Being in a family that used to value the sons as the ones to become the pillar that holds the prosperity afloat, I was always told that eventually it would be my turn to uphold that symbol after my father. Like Noctis, my personality is like a kid that had to deal with the responsibilities of an adult. I wanted to have fun, but responsibilities made me reluctant.
I always felt that Noctis possibly is the most unfortunate one amongs all FF protagonist Obviously every FF protagonist has misfortunes, sorrow and suffering on their life, Cloud, Cecil, Terra, Yuna, Lighting, Squall etc But in the end most if not all of them finds resolve and happiness in the end But i felt Noctis is different His whole life was prepared for him to be the sacrificial lamb, and the end game he got is only his death so he can defeat Ardyn in the afterlife so to speak and he kinda knew that and not to mention in the process to defeat Ardyn he had to lose people close to him like his father and Lunafreya and even he succeed he will lose his friends that's why he was such a brat, because he doesn't want to lose people close to him because everyone seemingly so eager to sacrifice themselves for him when the time comes and he doesn't want that
This animation series adds a lot of depth to the game (I'm about half-way through). I'm starting to see the character surrounding Noct less for their "bro-ship" and more as Noctis' supporting characters in his growth as a human and as a king. It's awesome.
By far my favorite episode so far. Many emotions and nice to see the character development here with Noctis and Ignis..also seeing his perspective a bit about becoming king one day was cool. There's so much potential for Noctis to grow and develop through this story. It's exciting.
Bout to revisit the game this time on ps5 played it on xbox when on launch day i think i finished before the episodes dropped so rlly excited to play again!
+Lord Xemnas They're talking personality wise, Gladio is the Stoic = Father / mentor figure trope aka Auron, Gaulf, and Sahz. Pronto is the out going one = Younger Exitable sibling trope aka Zell, Selphie, Rikku, and Vann. Ignis is the responsible one = mother/ nurturing figure that takes responsibility aka Lulu, Tifa, and Quistis. And Noctus Lazy smartass protagonist, Lock, Cloud (before Kingdom Hearts and Advent Children made him a brooding emo), and Zidane to some extent with the thrown on factor that he really likes to sleep it seems.
Ignis is my favorite character in FFXV, and only in the DLC Ignis Episode I'd burst my tears. He's Noctis' retainer who sacrifice the most in the game. T^T
Honestly these are so well made I would pay to see more! The artwork is gorgeous (the scenery is just so well done!), I enjoy the voice acting a lot and the stories keep me with my eyes glued for the full episode! I love it!
I feel the meaning behind the dessert Noctis remembers in his youth that Ignis tries to recreate has multiple layers to it. It can be a means to have Noctis continue to hold onto those fond moments of his youth while create new ones. But also that expectations can never truly be met, but to take solace in what you accomplished in your own way anyway.

Noctis was great and his personality is well rounded so far he comes across as lazy, detached, and a spoiled brat but in actuality he's aware, friendly, reserved, blunt and very clearly cares about his father. He definitely stole this episode. unfortunately Ignis.... is still one-dimensional, for a episode that's supposed to focus on him it kinda didn't tbh.

I was worried originally that it was just gonna be four dudes with no semblance of character or unity. That's all been wiped away now. This game has been wonderfully hyped, the characters have been greatly fleshed out before the game even drops... It's gonna be good.
I think one thing that develop from small Ignis to current Ignis is his way of thinking. At the past, he only cared about Noctis' duty and responsibility but ignored Noctis' feeling. Look at the opening, he agreed to drive back to Altissia despite already in the middle of the road. If Ignis still like his childhood, he wouldn't agree to drive back to Altissia just for sleeping
ignis's character development is subtle and shows more in his actions and the little things he does. he's a lowkey and quiet character. you have to read between the lines to get an idea of his personality and intent.

Year later after this game has come out, this comment is even more hilarious. Ignis does so damn much for Noctis! And it started at age six!

The reason this specific recipe hasn't been replicated is because Noctis still hasn't developed all of the right traits, "ingredients" if you will, to be able to rule. He is still young and afraid - burdened by the war, his father, and the safety of his kingdom. But while he is not ready to take on the throne yet, in time he will find his identity and the strength to lead the legacy his father has left him.

I can actually quite relate to Noctis. Before my father past away last year, he was sick for years too, and seeing him suffer and knowing it won't become better made me scarred. No wonder Noctis was so aggressive. Fuck this feels! :(

I mean, in the bonus Luna scene, he was shown to have written to Luna with a picture of Ignis with a tray and the caption "too sweet". So it's probably actually an inside joke between Noctis and Luna, and also a way to get Ignis to bake lel.

I love how this episode really brings forth Noctis' depression that started after his attack/escape from Tenebrae. It's apparent in the other episodes but this one hits home. The apathy, the avoidance, the disregard of cleaning up after himself, going to the arcade as an emotional escape, Noctis has a heavy weight on him enough from his expected accession as king but the weight on his mind is nearly as great if not greater. Confessing that he doesn't think he's right to be king, that he's not strong enough, shows the one thing that he's afraid of: Of becoming king and not being good enough.
To me, this felt more like him just being worried in general of becoming king because of his father's death. When Ignis kept going on and on about him eventually ascending to the throne, it's the hinting at Regis's death that finally causes Noctis to yell at him. He doesn't want to lose his father but the only way he'll ever become king...is on his father's deathbed. What a depressing thought. Seeing his father with a cane, the energy being sapped out of him by the Crystal to uphold the Wall, didn't help matters. I'm sure he's certainly worried about the kind of king he'll be one day but first...he has to lose his father and that terrifies him.
This dessert as so much meaning. Noctis saying " not quite " at the end. It could also be referencing to him not being ready yet to be the King. And if we associate the desert with Tenebrae,it could mean that he is not ready yet to confess his love to Luna ( which Tabata spoken about ). This episode really helps us to understand that Ignis is kind-of the mother figure that Noctis never really had,and it's very cool to see that.
Also he has so much loyalty and he brings the maturity in the group,he is the one who thinks correctly at everything,the most rational one,he is the guy who can calm the other guys if they are being anxious and that's a perfect role for him.

I appreciate Ignis' stoicism. His body and facial expressions are static, but he clearly cares about not only Noctis, but his duties and his king. The only problem is. . . .Ignis' social skills are clearly asinine. He tries to appeal to people's reason rather than their wants or senses of purpose, and that's GOOD. It's an excellent character flaw for someone so studious and stoic. Notice when Noctis shouts him out Ignis just throws his head onto the drivers wheel and sits there wondering: "Why?"
I also LOVE that Noctis has a distaste for veggies. It makes him feel so much more human, and that simple thing adds so much depth. Same with Prompto and his childhood obesity, and his love for photography.
And that's the development of Ignis from his childhood! At first he didn't understand Noctis' feeling but current Ignis/in-game Ignis, he finally understand.
Lots people here comment that Noctis is the only one who got character development in this episode. The truth is Ignis too but not as clear as other characters.

The moment when Noct saw his dad on TV and realized how far he had deteriorated was a really effective moment. Though they explained it further in the episode they really didn't need too, the look on his face said everything. And that's damn hard to pull off.

I'll be honest here i kinda actually like Noctis's dad, he just seems like a great king and a good father to Noctis. I mean sometimes in cartoons, animes, movies, video games, comics, mangas or whatnot or whatever you see on it's kinda always the main or side character or whatnot who has a dad who is king or emperor or whatever that always be a jerk to their kids and always treating others miserable and wants to rule the world or something because they gone mad with power i don't know, Lelouch's dad from Code Geass or Zoku's dad from Avatar for example. But Noctis's dad seems like a great person so pure hearted and not being a dick to his son or letting the power go to his head or something or whatever. And i actually like the fact that Noctis cares for his dad, just like i said with the cartoons and anime and such sometimes it always the kid who hates their dad even though the dad is actually good, i don't know that's just my guess. But yeah Noctis's dad a great man and Noctis caring for his old man, i like it.
Kinda reminds me how Tidus from X also hates his dad. While Jecht was a dick at times, he did truly love Tidus, but just didn't know how to show it. Though the main reason Tidus hates his dad is because his mom ignores him whenever Jecht is around. It just never really made sense to me.

The attitude thing was part of it, but that's because Tidus was little, and didn't realize that Jecht was doing that on purpose to try and toughen him up, since he didn't know how to show any affection. It wasn't until late in the game where Tidus finally realized that, however, so you are still technically right.

I love how the awkward tension between them during the flashback didnt just...vanish after their talks with Gladio, it's more like they worked around it with compromise and leaving things unsaid but still implied, which is not easy to convey without some view into the characters thoughts, kudos to A1 pictures for this

I love the gang's diverse personalities. And these "origin" stories really help you to understand and develop a bond with each character. It shows how much of a family they are, and how their unique personalities affect each other.

great backstory. i feel like i know these men on this mission. i have a bond with them. this has to be the theme of final fantasy xv: bonding and friendship. definitely a game need in this day and age. noctis is very relatable. that a huge responsibility he has to take and it's on his lap because the only family he truly has, is on the verge of death. it's something he wish he could stop but he can't. he feels helpless but slowly realizes the people around me are the ones he needs to grow as prince and ultimately a man. that's awesome character development for him and ignis. now i am clamoring to play the game so i can get to tenebrae and learn how to make that pastry perfect for noctis. that's great storytelling

I love the subtle metaphor of the pastry here: Like never stopping from trying to get the taste/texture right, Ignis is trying to become more empathetic, compassionate, and patient outside of the demands set by his duty and job--and his relationship with Noct has become the stage on which this is all allowed to unfold. He is trying to distinguish and build upon how to become a better person, and not just a better adviser/chamberlain/tutor/housekeeper. Iggy is actively trying to view and understand Noct as a person, son, friend, and brother-in-arms, and not just as the prince, Regis' only gem, the heir to the throne, a politician, and a soldier on the battlefield. I love how Iggy's own relentless quest for perfection, not wanting to compromise, which in the beginning, worked against him, has become his greatest strength.

I love how Noctis isn't the typical royal brat. Don't get me wrong, he can be kinda bratty but not in a normal way. He wants to be normal sometimes, is actually kind and caring, stresses out about his future, and genuinely cares about his fathers' health as well as not even wanting to think about his dad dying despite the fact he rarely sees him.
Anyone else get really feelsy when ignis was talking to Regis? about the toll on his body and successor?
I'm happy that they're taking their time to show each characters connection with Noctis but also to show their personalities and experience's of how they grew up. Makes it more meaningful and makes the characters more relatable and alive, instead of being just a regular person in some game.
Poor Ignis, you can really see the tiredness and sadness in his eyes in this. Ignis has no life outside of Noctis 😓, he lives in a tiny little apartment, attends meetings on Noctis’ behalf and spends the rest of the time training at the citadel 😓.
I think that's Ignis' fault, to a certain extent. Gladio did say in episode one that he babies him. I'm sure he's able to do other things but he feels so responsible for Noctis that it's consumed his life. Honestly, I think if someone gave Ignis a week off to do whatever he wanted, he'd go mad without being able to attend to Noctis, lol! Noctis IS his life!
I actually love the father-son dynamic between Ignis and Noct. You also see the toll his father’s degrading health takes on Noctis. Final Fantasy XV’s Characterization is Incredible.

I love how relatable Noctis and Prompto are! That and the relationship of Ignis with Noctis is beyond important. I wish this was presented in the game thoroughly. Though I just recently learned about Versus XIII and I would love to see the original take of them, I have gotten to warm up to this one finally after a few years

Noctis is pretty relatable for me. Being in a family that used to value the sons as the ones to become the pillar that holds the prosperity afloat, I was always told that eventually it would be my turn to uphold that symbol after my father. Like Noctis, my personality is like a kid that had to deal with the responsibilities of an adult. I wanted to have fun, but responsibilities made me reluctant.

His whole life was prepared for him to be the sacrificial lamb, and the end game he got is only his death so he can defeat Ardyn in the afterlife so to speak and he kinda knew that
and not to mention in the process to defeat Ardyn he had to lose people close to him like his father and Lunafreya and even he succeed he will lose his friends
that's why he was such a brat, because he doesn't want to lose people close to him because everyone seemingly so eager to sacrifice themselves for him when the time comes and he doesn't want that

This animation series adds a lot of depth to the game (I'm about half-way through).
I'm starting to see the character surrounding Noct less for their "bro-ship" and more as Noctis' supporting characters in his growth as a human and as a king. It's awesome.

By far my favorite episode so far. Many emotions and nice to see the character development here with Noctis and Ignis..also seeing his perspective a bit about becoming king one day was cool. There's so much potential for Noctis to grow and develop through this story. It's exciting.
Even with all that Prompto's confidence, it shatters when dealing with more than one girl at a time.
Bout to revisit the game this time on ps5 played it on xbox when on launch day i think i finished before the episodes dropped so rlly excited to play again!

Ignis is the responsible one = mother/ nurturing figure that takes responsibility aka Lulu, Tifa, and Quistis. And Noctus Lazy smartass protagonist, Lock, Cloud (before Kingdom Hearts and Advent Children made him a brooding emo), and Zidane to some extent with the thrown on factor that he really likes to sleep it seems.

Honestly these are so well made I would pay to see more! The artwork is gorgeous (the scenery is just so well done!), I enjoy the voice acting a lot and the stories keep me with my eyes glued for the full episode! I love it!

I feel the meaning behind the dessert Noctis remembers in his youth that Ignis tries to recreate has multiple layers to it. It can be a means to have Noctis continue to hold onto those fond moments of his youth while create new ones. But also that expectations can never truly be met, but to take solace in what you accomplished in your own way anyway.

I was worried originally that it was just gonna be four dudes with no semblance of character or unity. That's all been wiped away now. This game has been wonderfully hyped, the characters have been greatly fleshed out before the game even drops... It's gonna be good.
I agree. I have no idea who Ignis is, right now he just fulfills the caregiver trope
I think one thing that develop from small Ignis to current Ignis is his way of thinking. At the past, he only cared about Noctis' duty and responsibility but ignored Noctis' feeling. Look at the opening, he agreed to drive back to Altissia despite already in the middle of the road.
If Ignis still like his childhood, he wouldn't agree to drive back to Altissia just for sleeping
ignis's character development is subtle and shows more in his actions and the little things he does. he's a lowkey and quiet character. you have to read between the lines to get an idea of his personality and intent.
Great to see Ignis’ cooking here is as good as it is in the game
