  • This is a set of challenging pieces for unaccompanied oboe inspired by the following French paintings:
    I. Hôtel des Roches noires à Trouville (Claude Monet 1870)
II. Potager et arbres en fleurs - Printemps, Pontoise (Camille Pissarro 1877) 4:16
III. Boulevard des Capucines (Claude Monet 1873) 7:25
IV. Sentier dans les bois (Auguste Renoir 1874) 9:15
    V. Scène de plage - Ciel d'orage (Eugène Boudin 1864) 11:43
VI. Le ballet espagnol (Edouard Manet 1862) 12:55
Each movement was recorded as a single take. The only edits are in between movements. Recording engineer: Alan Wonneberger

Having studied these for a number of years, I can appreciate the work that was put in to prepare them to this terrific level. I congratulate Mr Mowry on his wonderful playing and interpretation.

I didn't even notice till I read the comments. I was fascinated with the shape of his nose from the light and shadows and camera angle. It looks un natural and matches beautifully with the surreal almost ethereal in parts, song he plays. He looks like a piece of art himself.

From what I understand, that is the correct way to button men's jackets when performing standing. I could be completely wrong, but I've always heard my music teachers instruct their male-identifying students to button their jackets that way.

This is the right way to use the suit. The last button need to stay free. It helps the moviment with the suit, and it prolongs her life-Time

Why no circular breathing in mvt 3? I think the massive gaps kill the atmosphers.

This is a very good player. But I dont like the new style of oboplaying who make the obo as a teknic instrument. That takes away the reeal oboe sound, many play this way so may be they can not make beutyfull sound. Sound takes years of practis…..

Yes understood. Maybe The Flower Clock is more melodic and less psychotic. This is competing with Solo Flute pieces. Britten was less hyperactive and more melodic as well, inspiring some of this as well.
