I love the redwalls! I saw these at a bar called 'bumper' in liverpool a few years back and caught onto them straight away. Even the drummer is cool, he's just holding a massive orange and saying 'Get on this orage man! Boss band!
Met these guys backstage at what was probably the next stop on this tour, in Newcastle in November 2008. Skipped most of the Zutons' set to do so; seem to remember hearing "Valerie" thumping through the cinder block walls. The Redwalls' touring lead guitarist just then was a high school mate of mine, Jason Roberts, and my wife and I lived in Durham at the time so Jason put us "on the list"; he came out into the crowd after the Redwalls' set to invite us backstage. (This is the only footage I can find of Jason playing with the guys: ua-cam.com/video/voHvVBxo1wk/v-deo.html. He's the one dancing around.) Anyway... great guys. Justin in particular was very friendly. And I sure wish the Redwalls were still recording and touring.
This song makes me remember my deceased best friend. He was the greatest dude you could ever call 'friend'. Asphyxiated on his own opiate vomit in the night ten years ago.
Damn can't believe I discovered this band in 2021
Thanks for the love, more to come
