- This is my PowerBook 1400c/133 booting from a 1GB AGFA Photo high speed (80x) compact flash card installed with a PCMCIA adaptor. It works very well and feels about as fast as the original hard drive that it replaced, and of course the machine now runs silently.
I have just got a 1400 and no nothing about it, it boots up ok (in spanish :-( ) can you please tell me wher e to get the compact flashcard & adapter ? and what to ask for ? please, also shouldnt i be able to change the language to enlish? or do i need a fresh OS install? anyone else that can help me with these? or anything 1400 related please PM me.. thanks all...
The PB 1400 line was announced in 1996 USB was yet to be specified first in 1998 and come to the computer way after that.
Too bad the PC card didn't give you a speed boost too, those old hard drives were so slow.
Awesome! I was given a 2GB PCMCIA hard disk as a gift with my G3 Lombard. It's just as big as my 1400c's hard drive. Great idea to use it to boot the computer! It takes virtually all noise out.
I have one of these lol. Anyone know how much its worth?
ah so you got one at long last so that was the great experiment you were telling me about
lol that eject sound was epic.
I am wondering if this would work with a usb card with an external device
No you cannot boot a powerbook from usb. Even if you have a USB PC Card and an external storage device.
Mah uncle found 2 of em
gonna try it on my ibm ps/2 E
