  • Despite all the signs warning about illegal activity and swarms of Border Patrol, we still enjoyed this National Monument...and you should too. Once called the "most dangerous National Park in America, this gem is worth the drive.

It's so ironic that you guys posted this today. We are currently camped on BLM land just outside of Ajo, Arizona off of Derby Well rd and we have spent 2 days so far exploring the Organ Pipe Cactus Monument on our ATV'S and in our truck. I have to admit that I was a bit nervous being here at first but we haven't had a bit of trouble and this place is absolutely gorgeous!!! I have been following you guys for a long time because I am also a nurse and I am from Reno and worked at Renown for 14 years so I was excited to hear about John's job at Renown. Thank you for sharing all of your helpful information!!!

Educate yourself and be proactive. Safety needs to be everywhere not just where we think it is dangerous. Thanks for sharing.

Organ pipe cactus national monument is in Arizona. Is there any reason why you put NM instead of AZ?

    • @NoOrdinaryPath
      @NoOrdinaryPath  2 роки тому +1

Omg how has this gone unnoticed for so long?! Seriously thank you. I know it's AZ - I have no idea why I put that in the title. Now I'm going to review the video again. Oops!!!

Haha!! I realize now why I did that. NM was an abbreviation for National Monument. 🤦‍♀️ Sure looked like New Mexico though. Thanks for the catch

That was a great place back in the 70s-80s. Lots of fun and a degree cooler than Yuma.

I have been there quiet a few times. Place is beautiful and awesome. Only problems we ever had was rattlesnakes and rude and obnoxious border patrol.

That looks like a great place to visit. The signs definitely would make me think twice about staying there but seeing that border patrol is present would make me feel much better. Love those cactus and can't wait to see one in person.

We’ve been there several times. They have ranger led hikes and will take folks in a van to trailheads. At least they did pre Covid. The Twin Peaks campground is really nice. Concrete pads, dry camping, but with a dump station, water spigots throughout the campground, and bathrooms with solar powered showers. Plenty of boondocking by Ajo, too. It’s a favorite of ours in that neck of the woods along with Chiricahua National Monument.

Do you guys have a video or plan to make one about campsite security? Do you feel comfortable leaving Wendy at your boondocking sites while you are off exploring? What are your must dos as far as keeping your campsite secure? This is one thing I get nervous about and I’m curious how full timers handle it

Such a great park. It’s areas like this that are frequented by travelers & security that make them safe & less scary despite the warning signs. The best analogy was great! Next time we’re near the area, we’ll definitely have to check it out. I love that they have Desert Ranger program for the adults!!!

Great video, and it was very informative. I admire your fearlessness and faith Kristin, I've been so nervous every time I see those signs near a border town.

From SURPRISE, AZ - I’m glad I’m not the only one with a backpack addiction! 😂 That Monument has been on my list for a while, I passed it a few times heading down to Rocky Point, but will definitely hit it this year.

That was a cholla cactus your daughter got on her shoe. So glad your dog did not get into one. They have tiny sharp barbed points. Carry a comb with a handle so you can just comb them off. Very painful and dangerous for you and your dog. Be careful. A beautiful area and park.

Cinder did get one the next time we went out. 😔 We had one of our kiddos put their hand on one last year. It's a running family joke now that cholla don't play. I totally forget that I had a pocket knife with tweezers. :(

So I feel sure you are probably gone now but it is something to take heed. I have a relative that is Border Patrol. That’s all I will say. I just want everyone to be safe. Drug smuggling is real and these signs are to be made to take notice. Love your channel.

Thank you for watching and leaving a comment. :) Of course take notice. Our point is to not live in fear. :) We aren't debating that it happens and terrible things can happen to good, innocent people pretty much anywhere in the world. The best we can do is arm ourselves with knowledge and awareness and make decisions based on that.

Thank you Farnsworths! Your family and channel are inspiring us to look in full time Rving. My husband is a brand new nurse, working ICU/ER currently and loves it. He would love to reach out in an email with questions we haven't seen answered on your videos but we're not sure where to email you. We've been watching, seriously for the last two months researching this lifestyle for us, our three daughters (almost 7, 4, and yikes 3 months), and our two smallish dogs. If you ever take a contract in western NC we'd love to host you, when its not raining. Aside from that, we applaud and cheer on all your adventures. Be safe and happy travels and please don't stop!
