- Virgin Galactic is unveiling its new SpaceShip III, which will play a crucial role in bringing tourists to space. First on "CBS This Morning," Virgin Group founder Sir Richard Branson and Virgin Galactic CEO Michael Colglazier talk about when the first flights could launch, and when affordable space travel could become a reality.
Each weekday morning, "CBS This Morning" co-hosts Gayle King, Anthony Mason and Tony Dokoupil deliver two hours of original reporting, breaking news and top-level newsmaker interviews in an engaging and informative format that challenges the norm in network morning news programs.

Sir Richard should sell some Virgin chocolate bars with a golden ticket hidden inside.
My favorite story book as a child.
That's an idea Elon would have. All chocolate bars sold out in less than 5 hours....
💙💙💙💙
Err... 80% of the kids who've got golden tickets didn't come back alive.... remember?
@@mukamuka0 they comeback alive but have problems
Can’t wait for the flight in May
I bought the stock, it better doubles soon lol

Load it full of flat-earthers and ask them to explain what they see.
they will say the windows are curved in a way that can make the earth look round, or they will claim they are screens instead of windows. theres no arguing with those morons
Sorry. Debating a flerther about a round earth, works out just as well as giving a _long_ list of damn good, solid, valid points about why the flood story is fictional, and childishly stupid, to a creationist. And most flerther's are _also_ creationists, as they believe the earth is flat, _because_ it is clearly the image of the Earth the bible projects in numerous verses. So images, video, astronauts and practically anything is of no value, if it does not support scripture. Even their own eyes.
@@ingebygstad9667 ...and therefore, it's not "true." My last day in Sunday school came when I asked the "instructor" why I didn't see any kangaroos being led onto the Ark in the comic book rendering of the story. When I was asked why I needed to see kangaroos, I explained that if the entire planet was about to be flooded, that had to include Australia. And if Noah wanted two of every kind of animal, he had to have kangaroos on the Ark. "How did he get to and from Australia to get those kangaroos on the Ark?" (And then back again, after the floodwaters went down the big drain that was lurking somewhere.) Instructor: "You have to have faith." Me: "But I just want to know about the kangaroos." At that point, after I was told I was disrupting the lesson and could go home, I realized Noah was just another character in the fairy tale world populated by Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy. I did miss the nice church organ, though! 😏

So cool. Sub Orbital flight is the future of basic everyday travel.
Sir Richard mis-spoke at 3:00. Zero to 3,500 MPH in 8 seconds would yield about 20 G's, leading to, um, probable one-star reviews from the surviving families of customers. I don't know what the correct figures are, but according to their web page customers experience only about 3.5 G's, greatly increasing the odds of return business.
Yeah i picked that up too , 8 seconds is definitely not correct. Tesla plaid mode 0 to 60 mph in 2.0 seconds is around 1.4 g force.
For those who don't know: VG already has two successful flights achieved by Spaceship 2 (the VSS Unity) in 2019. The next Unity spaceflight is in May. Then another (in Summer) with Sir Richard going up. By the way, that's something that even Musk hasn't done: fly on his own ship. VSS 3 Imagine will meanwhile be performing various flight tests throughout 2021 to acquire all FAA permits and commercial licenses. VG already has 1000+ fully paid deposits on tickets, with an additional 2400+ partial deposits. Sir Richard also signed a deal with Rolls Royce Aviation to design and build a new hybrid engine with VG. That, combined with his spaceships' design, leads me to believe that VG is also planning to launch a next-gen Concorde at some point (by 2024 maybe).
Anything to peg Elon Musk down a peg makes me smile.
Who cares this is just a glorified sightseeing plane that can barely reach space. Space X got to the ISS in its first human test flight.
Wait til you guys find our “space” doesn’t exist

Anyone else finding the future oddly more advanced than what you were expecting? It feels like it just kind of "happened" in three or four years time.
@@Cmdr_DarkNite It seems to be getting better. Although my workplace did just get bought up by somebody. The previous employers walked around with the new introducing them as our new owners. In a very "they own you" sort of way that I can't really refute.
Is really “advanced” or are people less intelligent?
Yep. As a child I fantasized about owning hand held color TVs. Here I am posting this. As it turns out they're not just "Tv's", you get to talk to people on them, take videos and pics, do banking and shopping through them, heck, they can even guide you home when you're lost. And these are just a few features... I'd agree that exoectations have been exceeded.
Oh... I forgot personal jet packs and people using them to fly. Also flying and self driving cars (obviously they're not mass produced yet but we've exceeded my expectations. I never thought I'd live to see them during my lifetime). The Jetsons and Space 1998 were the siurces of my fantasies, lol. Good times.

For perspective, the photo in the thumbnail is "not to scale".
It’s beautiful 🥂
Payment schedule lol 😂
This has been a journey that looks to be quite lucrative and given the additional advancements in technology, I see this program becoming equivalent to the Space X programs and further.
Lol
Branson is farther ahead than SpaceX when it comes to commercial tourist flights.
I wonder which will happen first
Sir Richard on the cover of G.Q. magazine
Or Lift off 2022....
This Spacecraft is absolutely mind blowingly gorgeous and at the very least it will give 'Aston Martin'
And 'Chevrolet' a run for their money and style. I certainly hope Virgin has covered that route along!
Did anyone say how long the actual r/t will take.
Would it be like when you are in a carnival and you get on the scariest ride ever then once its done all you want to do is go again! But that could be an extremely expensive habit!
Lets hope for May 🙏🏼🙌🏽💃
Amazing design! Can’t wait til space tourism and travel to the Moon and Mars becomes as common as air travel!🤞
Bro I remember about my sisters friend told me about VG and their mission. This was like in 2008....Amazing to see how far they have become. And who else is doing the same thing now.
Actually blue origin is with their suborbital capsule
Spacex with thier frikin Mars starship
@@sumreensultana1860 totally different ball game and tbf they are currently only doing commercial spaceflight with dragon
I'm here for this 😍🙏🏾
Good luck getting liability insurance.
wouldn't matter when your body is in at least 100 different pieces
surprisingly to some rocket insurance does exist
@Scan yea and why would coverage even matter if your body is blown to bits? you missed my point
Weightlessness because of the altitude alone, at level flight, or in part because of a parabolic flight pattern(s)?
NEEEEEEEEEEEEERD
Parabolic flight. They don’t go far enough out, I believe
Not in orbit therefore due to parabolic
Not just because of the altitude, but also because there is no atmosphere
Two words, Too cool!!!
I was like $250 I’m gonna buy one now, then he said two hundred thousand dollars 😭😢
I pray I can afford it one day. This is truly remarkable and on their accomplishment.

Ughh finally good designs for a ship 😌😌
I want to be on this spaceship plane!!!!!!!
Spaceship
You guys are the best!
I was curious how long the flight is?
My guess: less than an hour, maybe 45 minutes from "launch" underneath the carrier plane until touchdown. After the rocket engine quits, the spaceplane passengers are virtually weightless as it coasts up into its apogee (just barely reaching the edge of what we on the ground might agree to call space) and then just begins its return to earth. So, the "space" experience is really only several minutes long.
Oh man I want a go
Price starts at $250k and it's likely to go up...
Me:🚶♂️🚶♂️🚶♂️
Just think about it this way. Kim Kardashian pays more for her purse than that amazing adventure
But did they fix the software issue with the computer that controls the rocket motor? Nice shiny spaceship but it's a paper weight without the software, folks.
Im sure they thought of that
Wifi connection on necker island is better than orange county ca lol
They didn’t say how long we will get to stay in space? An hour? 2 hours? 30min?
5 to 10 minutes
I look forward to taking this trip.
Amazing
$250K will probably get you a round trip to the moon when Starship is done.
Well not immediately maybe after some years
The normal starship won’t be going to the moon. The extra design of the lunar starship will be landing on the moon but won’t be coming back to earth.
That’s such a fake number, you know little of space travel
Imagine being in that the though and falling into space into the unknown😯
At a moment like this she should have better questions ready ,like : how close will we be to the van allen belts ?
Simple answer: Not close at all. The Virgin air/almost-spacecraft reached just over 55 miles up. The inner-most Van Allen Belt starts about 400 miles above the earth. Zero points if this was horseshoes or darts.
가즈아!
Can I get a ticket on a budget?
Yes~~~~
I bought this stock 💪🏽📈 love it hope it has a great launch tomorrow
As soon as the stock sky rocket, I will get 2 tickets!!😁
It's a win win really. Plus I win because I also have SPCE stonk!
We need to get some flat earthers on that plane. I would love to see their reaction.
It just doesn't work that way. Just how many good valid points can you make, to make the flood story in the bible be too damn obviously fictional, and too damn stupid for a grown-up to believe in? Or valid points to prove the Earth is older than 10'000 years? Flerthers _are_ mostly creationists, as most of them believe the Earth is flat _because_ that's clearly the image of Earth the bible projects in numerous verses. Do you know how debating evolution with creationists works or goes?
Imagine being up in one of those ships and witnessing a rogue asteroid hit the Earth out of no where and being completely helpless!... 🤯

Am I the only one that thinks Branson has literally no idea what’s going on with VG and the new feats spaceship 3 has. That would of been a perfect time to talk about it’s modular design to bring overall costs down for future builds but “it looks cool” doesn’t give me confidence he knows or is invested in his own product. Hoping he does though!

"massive windows"
Blue Origin New Shepard windows 2x the size of SpaceShip lll

Price will go down but don't expect to see anything lower than 3 digit thousend dollars. That thing is burning rocket fuel and have only handful of seats.
Looks fake
History books will remember the names of the passengers of the first commercial space flight.

When he said 250 I was about to cop me one but when he said thousand dollars 😐
Can I pay for a ticket with Bitcoin? JUST KIDDING. I'm staying on Earth, thanks.
What the point? It takes 3 days to go from SFO to my hometown in India!!! can this flight drop me in at least 6 hrs so I can attend my family in emergency?
Yes obviously. If you understand what the concept is. This is for tourism of looking at the earth but it can get you in 30 minutes
Am so nervous watching this, richard should wait before going so soon at least 4 years,I don't think it's safe yet,he should let the test pilots keep flying for a bit longer do more stress test on the ship before he or other passengers take flight.
No gonna lie that sounds like a dream

Looks like the Naboo Royal Starship 👌😂

There Chairman Chamath dumped all his shares hardly a vote of confidence for the company.

I cannot believe the Brits are still using noble titles in 2021. You know, Sir BS... Apart from that, great project and best of luck!!!!! But at 250K, I won´t be traveling to space any time soon...
When did Branson start looking like Angela Lansbury?
Im glad i have STOCKS🤣
They can call it a space ship, but if it only goes into orbit and then descends, it's not a space ship. It's an orbital shuttle. Not impressed.
STOCK GO GUHHHHHG
I dont think I'd go honestly. And it's not only because a flight costs more money than I'd make in my entire life either lol
LOLOL....even if you work at McDonald's....you will make alot more than 250k in your life
@@user-jz3vc9kd2j well I meant more along the lines of disposable income in a low income neighborhood lol. But even still, you probably right. But who wants to spend they life savings on a flight? Lol.
