Painting Wheels, Exhaust, Headlight & More! - Soviet Ball Tank "Sharotank" (Miniart 1/35)

- Painting details like wheels, exhausts, headlights or machine guns is usually a fun process, because the model finally starts to come together, but in this case it was more frustrating than entertaining. But WHY?!

Hey there mates, so MAAAYBE you noticed how frustrated I was with my work at some points during this video, but hey, we all know that feeling RIGHT?
Sometimes you set yourself a bar that is too high and when you fail to deliver it feels... exactly like this video :D
One of those isn't it? You just need to take a breath and push on!
I know right? And, funny enough, after finishing the video I realised it doesn't actually look THAT bad!
Didn't look bad at all! Maybe your brain just said no because it's a shape you're not used too!
Maybe! Or maybe I'm just forgetting that not perfect is still better than not finished!
Still 0 Dislikes, great work.
I love the brutal honesty and detached sarcasm... It's my type of humour for sure!
Haha glad you like it mate!
You sir have won a big fan.
Great, great work and thanks for the excellent tips!
Your work is fantastic but I really come here for the dialog. Very entertaining!
You have hands down become my favorite channel just off of this Ball tank tutorial. You're hilarious and I appreciate you showing off your mistakes.
Another great video.
I was quite surprise because I did not knew your job.
I enjoy your pronuciation. As a brazilian I had my bad times also.
Nothing like a great modeller that can laugh about his own mistakes.
And still delivering high quality modelcraft.
Don't be depressed Martin. You're one of the best modellers on UA-cam. We all make mistakes in our builds. And now we get to see how you fix yours. You should do a video showing us all your previous builds, the sneak peeks you show look amazing!
Aww thanks mate! Don't worry, there are much more serious things in life to make a person depressed, and one small headlight is definitely not one of them! Yes I thought about showcasing my older builds, except I don't know what to say about them except "yeah this is a thing I did back in the day before UA-cam" :D but I think I'll do them once in a while, when I'm behind with my regular video production or something, you know, a sort of filler content so I don't have to go silent if I won't have anything to post.
For what it's worth, I paint the inside of headlight housings with chrome silver, then I use the foil wrappers of Hershey Kisses. I carefully smooth out the wrinkles, cut a small piece, and press it into place with the end of a paint brush. Before I do that, I'll drop a tiny dab of white glue inside the housing to help keep the foil in place as I shape it. Using a proper size piece of foil reduces the amount of trimming. Should a tear occur or the foil didn't quite cover the inside housing, I have the option of either trying again or let the paint hide the my error.
Thank you for the video. I love seeing how someone with the skill level you have experiences the same frustrations I come across. It shows how these pieces are as much a result of hard work, and trial and error, as much as it is talent.
Sometimes stuff just doesn't go as planned :)
Thank you for your honesty and those little hints that make a world of difference. Waiting for another episode! Keep it up!
Thank you Michal! When I was younger I always neglected these small details but they can make a world of difference when we put some more effort into them.
Nice to see a video showing troubles and issues we all face time to time modeling thanks for your honesty Martin it’s a great video and model looking forward to the next episode
Thanks comrade! You seem to have been busy with that French heavy! Oh I think the next episode is gonna be something. Painting that huge rubber track.
Very much liking your style of video. Subscribed to a few model-making channels but this one mixes quality with solid tips with full honesty about easiness or otherwise of what you're doing, and always good to see a mistake as well as the fix. Keep up the good work and have a sub.
Thanks a lot and welcome! Hope you'll enjoy your stay.
Very good quality Video. Nice to watch
Great video series keep going like that
Im really looking forward seeing following videos
Thanks a lot mate!
Thank you, Martin. Great video. You, sir, have skills. Perhaps when you get the time you could show us how to do winter camo. Winter scenes are my favorite but I don' t have a clue where to begin.
Thanks a lot Tom. Winter camos are one of my favorites! I have it planned very soon and it won't be just one model for sure
This man is the bob ross of model kits
I think that this is very inspiring video, because when I see some masterpiece works I start thinking that this is very simple to do. Especially on video guides. But you show that even master can made a mistake or loose his inspire during paint-job. Thumbs up for true modeling videos!
Thanks a lot mate! Yes it's true.
I often lose inspiration during my builds, but hey who doesn't? I think it's a normal thing, you get hyped up about your upcoming project, start working on it and the enthusiasm starts to fall down. Then it starts to rise up as you get near completion, because you can see the finished model. The most important thing is to not give up and start another build!
Thanks again for your nice words!
@@NightShiftScaleModels Say this for my four WIP's LOL)
Haha I know that feeling, I have like 10 WIP models, some are basically just the main hull and turret parts glued together and then put aside. Yeah, my building discipline was terrible a few years back.
What would be awesome it have the guns be fully and appropriately articulated.
great job!!
спасибі!
Very nice work, I have discovered your channel. And, I have subscribed 👍
Thanks mate, I really appreciate it. Welcome and I hope you'll enjoy your stay!
Was you a stand up,before becoming expert model maker...great info...
Have you tried vallejos metallic black for your MGs? Honestly I have tried alclads to gun metals but nothing compared to the metallic black its perfect black with the Gunmetal pigment flakes showing when dry and matt I use it all the time now highly recommend to try! I got it in a metallic set I hardly used and tried the black I couldn't believe how nice it was for guns
Great videos love then different examples of the techniques. Do you have an Instagram page ?
Thanks mate! No, not yet, but I've already thought about it!
Hi mate ... nice video ... sometimes there is no way to do it right ... and the next day everything is going perfectly fine ... this is how it works I guess ... thanks and good luck ;-) ... Make*
Exactly my thoughts mate! The headlight probably didn't look so good because the kit clear part is too thick and it makes the part look flat. And the exhaust was my bad when building the kit... it's too thin and overall too small, like a motorcycle exhaust. If I did it again I would make it much thicker, like a T-34 exhaust for example.
Moooore
Patience brother!
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
спасибо!
"And the result still looks like garbage" Mate you should have seen my tamiya Panther ausf. A. :D
Did this tank actualy see action on any battlefield in RL ?
nooo
heh ok i figuered. What is this design from ?
@@shitchops bottle of vodka I presume
Which country are you from, Slovenia?
Slovakia :)
Your name and surname sound realy slovene, that's why i'm asking
tank
How do you even steer this "tank"
That's the point, you don't. You point it straight towards Berlin and accelerate!
I would imagine that weight distribution in the interior would be part of it.
Would have been cooler if the tires were black...but nice build overall, subbed
Thank you and welcome! It's always better to paint rubber tires with dark grey colour, pure black wouldn't look very natural. When combined with dust effects applied on top of it, the results are much more convincing.
@@NightShiftScaleModels oh crap, I totally forgot about this comment! I saw other video of yours and I found out you painted your rubber tire.
Also thank you for the dark gray color advice and forgive me for my bad english, thank you!
This What's If, Stalin Ball rather
Dang. This was the saddest-sounding modeling video I'd ever seen! It's like if Kafka was into armor kits.
Sounds like you’ve lost your steam in this video.
You definitely better than Andys Hobby headquarters. But your humor at end is horrible.
