I took my '90s rigid MTB on a singletrack with a DIY cargo trailer attached, as a test to check for its weak points. Fun as shit, and useful to learn its limits: every single bolt unscrewed itself and I almost lost the wheel twice lmao, I added washers, locknuts, threadlocker, and it is now fine!
yo! sorry for the delay, had to look for it in my archived project files! it's part of this old movie soundtrack from the krautrock band Can, before they became Can! ua-cam.com/video/3UEaJza15_k/v-deo.html
nice! hard to say! that's entirely dependent on you, the weight/tires/gearing of the bike, and conditions like wind and weather. personally, on a beautiful summertime overnighter a few years ago with no wind and flat paved bike paths, my 42lbs/19kg (with gear) bike and i were cruising around 12-15mph/19-24kmh at any given time. as soon as i hit elevation though it was closer to 5mph avg haha
@@stay_loose Cheers Dude, I normally kick out 25-30 km on endurance events. It was a thought so I could carry our Bivvi kit as this has been slimmed down but it let's Ceri enjoy the ride while I burn the matches. 😂
@jamesbicknell4706 very nice. yeah the bike is gonna be heavier if it's not titanium, and wind resistance goes way up overall, not for everybody but it's my favorite way to bike camp!
Hello! I didn't buy it, it was found near a dumpster. The brand is IFCO and these boxes are normally used by local farmer's and grocery stores as reusable packaging/food storage for transportation.
the bullitt feels long and low where this feels snappier and happier. i loved my bullitt when i had one, especially for heavy load hauling on city streets, but for off-roading & mountain biking, this is the cargo bike for it 👌
When you're riding an omnium without cargo it feels pretty much like a regular bike. If you have the mini-max you can take it into elevators and trains and such because it's not much longer than a regular bike. You can relatively easily lift an unloaded or lightly loaded Omnium and carry it on stairs when needed, both because it's only about 20kg but also because it's very well balanced and you can pretty much just put it over your shoulder using the top tube. Of course once you load up the omnium with over 50kg it's no longer as fun and nimble but still quite doable. The bullitt on the other hand is built for having load, 50kg handles like a dream. But it's too long for regular elevators, too heavy and not easy to lift. For me personally, if I were to choose a bike for the rest of my life, it would be the omnium mini-max because it's both a really fun bike and can still carry a person or a ton of cargo when you really need it. So if you're planning on hauling heavy and bulky cargo regularly or want to transport more than one child, I'd go for the bullitt. If you want to get our groceries home, maybe a christmas tree or some smaller furniture, or have a kid on there, and still want to have a fun bike, I'd go for the omnium. Also if your storage options are limited the omnium is much more compact. ps. I've used the bullitt for deliveries for many years and i currently have both an omnium for when I want to have fun with my kids on there or if i want to go without electric assist, and a regular long-john cargo bike for when i need to put in both kids and groceries or it's raining etc.
it's an alley find/ground score/reused, reduced, recycled-style collapsible box labeled "IFCO" not sure you can buy them, just look around your local trash pile and you might get lucky!
i just prefer the Omnium MINI. 'Cargo'....for light Errands...& Fun Trail single track'n Rides! cheers from Canada!

I guess it’s like sending one those through traffic - huge, extremely nimble and very fun
Long answer, siiiiick!
What’s that song you are playing in the beginning of the video? You make a cargo bike look so fun! Time to start saving, rad vid!

@@stay_loose Proto Can, thanks!
I'd love to compare this to the Surly Big Dummy packed with 100 pounds on what rides best thru trails.
You had me at "siiiiick" 😂
This is such a sick bike. Out of all bikes out there, owning a Omnium Cargo Ti is my absolute dream, it just seems like so much fucking fun!
thanks yo! it totally is. weight of a hard tail mountain bike, capability of a small pickup truck :)
E, quick question I'm thinking of doing the North Cape 4000 on an omnium but not Ti, what sort of speed is it capable off on steady roads?

@@stay_loose thank you for your fast reaction!
siiiiick video! what tires did you use for the offroad upgrade?
thanks! Schwalbe Rocket Ron 20x2.25 in the front and Schwalbe Racing Ralph 29x2.25 out back.
How would you compare this with the Bullitt cargo bike? Thanks ☺️

@@stay_loose cool! Thanks I have a boarder collie Dog 🐶 I think both might be great! I like that the Ominium is great for Mtb tracks etc!

Alright, after two videos, yep. I know you can recommend a trail nearby for me :D. Also siiiiiiick cargo bike.
haha, thanks. yeah there is good riding in this town! i got routes to share for sure!
niiice, where'd you get your little foldable crate?
alley find! or maybe it was curbside 🤔 anyway somebody's garbage is my bike crate! the branding on the side says "IFCO" it that helps!
nice bike
