I had problems with my 2013 Audi A6 8 speed cvt transmision .It was jerking snd slipping first gear ,sometimes engine stolling .It would not pull up a hill if I had to stop and some jerking up to 70 km/h .The gearbox was smooth on driving and changing speed ,only on first pull had problems .Replaced the oil and filter ,readapted the gears but no change .A famous automatic transmission repair shop asked for 3000 euros to fix it saying something about changing chain ,variable pulleys and other mambo jambo stuff (could not tell me what the real problem was but they knew the price to fix it ,strange...Something like we change everything and solve the problem)...I decided to do it myself thinking it could only be the clutches worn out .I bought the original forward clutch kit for 200 euros ,1 hour to take the gearbox down ,replaced the clutches in 30 minutes ,put hte gearbox back on (you can refill oil after you remove the oil filter and check level from the bottom at 40 degrees celcius ) ,I reset the cluches with Autel 906BT diag. tool ,readapted the gears again and solved the problem .I found the cluches burned inside the gearbox .No more problems since then ,the car runs like new .Big difference from 200 euros to 3k ,isn`t it ?
Hello Lauren , thanks for sharing, I have the exact same issue with my 2012 Audi A6 CVT. Can you please share in more details , from you bought the kit and what equipment needed to change the clutches? Many thanks.
I am amazed - this actually works! My 2007 Q7 TDI has had this issue for so long I was thinking about moving it on, but I otherwise think it is a great car. I did this fix a few weeks ago and it has clearly improved the shunting, jerking issue that was so annoying - not even the mechanics I went to could work this out. It still has this but to a much lesser extent that is is hardly noticeable. I'll try another reset to see if it can be totally cured. MANY THANKS FROM AUSTRALIA MrCarMAN 👏👏👏
Dude you just fixed my 2009 audi a6 Quattro 3.0. Thank you so much. Im 18 and not to boast or anything but I got myself a good job and worked hard all year to buy myself a luxury car, At the end of this summer I had finally scraped up enough and bought an audi, I took it on a test drive in an area im not familar with and the road was quite bumpy it was also rush hour so I could not really accelerate, but the car felt what I thought fine so I signed the papers and handed over my hard earned cash, only for the car to throw on every light on the dash after accelerating for the first time.. the car immediately ran differently and shook quite violently, I literally had the car for 15 minutes so i tried calling the dealership but they would not answer the phones after my father and I each called about 20 times so I drove back to the dealership were they then told me “it was my car before you drove it off the lot now its yours, so are the problems”... nice. So I then had to dump another $1575 of my savings into the car to get a new valve gasket to keep the oil out of the spark plugs so the cylinders won’t misfire. But even after that the car would stutter when it shifted, but after today and after your video that problem is a things of the past and im so thankful !! I finally have a luxury car! Thank you so much !!

@@N0VA_PLAYS Indeed. I was very surprised to read such a bs comment from OP. I am from Eastern Europe and nobody really gives you "a warranty" for imported cars. It's all about luck. You buy second hand from a third party dealer and often times people genuinely don't know the condition of the car in a sense, you drive it without plates a bit but you really don't know if "anything is about to go bad". Nobody here calls it a lemon car tho, just unlucky. And even here people have the option to call a trusted mechanic to check the car and also have the option to check every car at the official dealerships by chasis if wanted. Sadly, with modern cars even that often wont help because of how sudden problems can appear. But OP cheaped out on even calling and paying a bit extra to someone competent to double check the car before he bought it so, his fault.
Can you please explain your issue, i drive the same car , and when it is cold . It weirdly acts like releasing the clutch fast when i break making the car sometimes to turn off . Its 6 gears Automatic
@@MrCARman You saved me £3000 The last time my car was doing the same I took it to Audi specialist and he charged me £3000 , this happened again , it was because of my battery was flat , so I did exactly the way you explained and it worked straight away , The first time I had same issue my battery was flat and the gear couldn’t go to D1 it was only D2 ! And wile I was driving it jumped to D4 so there was no D3 or D 5 or D6 &D7 , as I said the Audi specialist told me I had to change the gearbox and the clutch , and it cost 3 thousand pound ! I was watching this video at 3 in the morning and went out to the car and did this and went for half hour drive and feel the happiest man in this planet, thanks to you hope Allah God makes you happy 🤲🤲🤲 Thanks so much If you ever come to Scotland I will give you free haircut sir 😊
I just did this on my 2019 s4, it was super jerky in S mode and I figured for awhile it was just the sport transmission and differential. Finally I decided it shouldn’t feel like that and that I should probably take it in to Audi but then I came across this. Made a whole world of a difference, so incredibly smooth in D and it even pulls harder in S. Thank you
So this ACTUALLY worked for you?! I have a 2018 and planning on trying this. Someone even mentioned on the B9 Audi Facebook Group this SHOULD be done every transmission oil change to let the transmission adapt to the new fluid, they are VERY sophisticated ZF transmissions after all.
Yeah that’s what happened to me last night.. I went into sports mode and when I pressed the accelerator down about 60% that’s when it started stuttering. I was still able to drive but I had to inch the speed up with little pressure on the accelerator or else it’ll stutter again
Thank you Mr CarMan for your "thousand dollar" advice - I would like to add that if ECU resent dose'nt occur the first time, press the accelerator fully twice and release it and start the car after few minutes. It works.
Your very welcome! I’m really happy it helped you fixed your car!! And thank you for sharing that advice I really appreciate you sharing this video on your social media and subscribing to my channel, it really helps out the channel and for me to make more content!
I did this today on my Audi a7, because I’ve been having stutters coming out of the 1st and 2nd gears along with lack of power. You are amazing because it worked! Smooth as butter!!
Thank you. I have a 2004 Audi a4 2.0T CVT that was having serious tranny issues after a tranny fluid change, It would jerk on acceleration and thud during kick-down, but thanks to your video, it shifts better now after the re-set. God bless you.
Just tried this on my 2013 A5 2.0 quattro with 119k miles that I just bought. It really smoothed out the shifts. I was in stop and go traffic this afternoon and the tyranny was jerky. It feels a lot better. Thanks bro!!!
Great to hear! Thank you, I really appreciate the great comment! Thank you once again for subscribing to the channel and sharing the video! Have a great day!
Hey Bro, i did this yesterday on my way home, seems the car doesn't labour as much when rolling (win) also i noticed an increase in mpg! (double-win) Thank you from the UK!
Man... Imagine the thousands of people who went to the auto shop with jerking issues and having to spend thousands on false diagnosis and the mechanics probably did this reset.
Made my 2015 Audi a4 run so much smoother thanks a million! I like shifting my own gears with the DSG and it made a huge difference on up and down shifting. No more stutter!
Wow!! My Audi Q3 was jerking in 1st 2nd and 3rd gear since last few days, I went to garage and they couldn't find anything in their diagnostic. But meanwhile I tried this and it fixed the issue😮🎉❤🎉❤Thanks so much for such a useful tip
Thank you for this video, just had this problem this morning 🙏🏽 Worked on my 2009 A4 3.2. So far it has fixed the issue and seems to have improved the shift quality 👍🏽
Thank you for the information. I plan to test it in my 2008/2009 Audi A4 B8. It seems there might be an issue with the gears or shifting in my Automatic S tronic. While driving, it appears the gears aren't changing automatically in the D drive mode, seemingly stuck in the first gear I guess because I didn't hear any switch gear little noise. Only on Sport mode and manual mode, I notice shifts based on speed that are switching automatically and it looks good. I experienced a noise when starting my audi in P position today, giving gas for 15-30 seconds. Could this have caused the gear switch problem? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
It works. It works. It works. 2011 A6 3.0. I was shifting clunky into 2 n 3 gear. I knew in my heart I was gonna go n be told the trans is shot. Use my car for work so it’s a big deal. Did this. It worked. The 3 min wonder cure. Thnx so much. And merry Christmas lol😂

@@MrCARman Just wanted to give an update. The jerking came back. I changed my spark plugs and it resolved the issue. Just wanted to give an update. 2015 A4 Premium Plus S-line
Believe me, if your S-Tronic is not displaying serious issues, Mechatronic is okay as far as you know and the clutch packs are not burnt or worn out, this works wonders with the 7 Speed S-Tronic gearbox's, I have sold Mercedes, VW, and Audi products for nearly 40 years, the later DSG and S-Tronic units are a complicated and sophisticated Auto / Semi Auto gearbox. Over the years with multiple owners or high mileage this simple DIY procedure will reset and smooth out much of the small jerks, hesitations, and even some of the reversing glitches of these much mis understood units. You can't rush these gearboxes, especially in slow stop start city traffic, quick parking manoeuvres , three point turn when quickly switching between Drive and Reverse, or reversing uphill sequence, they just don't like it, not one little bit, and the older they get, the more they glitch out on you. Earlier 7 speed S -Tronic say from the 2011 on Audi A6/A7 were more susceptible to needing Reset's, Adaptions, more frequent Gearbox Service Kits and Oil etc: ....... later cars from 2017 /18 were improved at factory with I believe four version updates and improvements from circa 2011 right up to the present day ( certainly here in UK / Europe ) As I say, any VAG model I take into stock or sell with the 7 speed S-Tronic box I self reset as explained in this and many other videos, in some cases I run the VCDS and Adaption software before venturing any further to give me the best options before going down the "Stealer Prices" route or wasting many unnecessary ££££££ and $$$$$$$. Try this first, you may be very surprised. ( I'm not talking about the earlier years "MultiCRONIC" Auto as we call them in the trade, they are another problem altogether and I no longer go anywhere near them, I won't even take them in Part Exchange ! )
Thank you I have an A6 2018. I seem not to be able to reset it. I drove for like a few minutes and I could shift into D but it wasn’t engaging the drive only raving up but not moving. Suprisingly I could do reverse gear. Please help 😢 I have wasted a lot of money to the dealership but still there is no change.
Hey man thanks for the video, I did this on my car and it didn't work, dealer said they would check the transmission fluid and go from there... whatever that means, they said like $130 to just look at it, then I asked how much for the fluid change they said like 650 to change the trans fluid, do you think I can take it to a independent shop and trust them to do it the right way? Since it's a complex job from what I saw
Hi Jay, dealership prices are always going to be super high. Just search for a German/euro mechanic shop in your area. Read reviews online and then call and Ask 3-4 shops on how much they will charge for a transmission flush for your car. Not all independent shops are bad but not all are good either. Let me know how it goes. Good luck!
@@MrCARman Hey carman, I couldn't find any local shops with good reviews and most of them said they don't work on audis, I know some one from the dealership and he was able set me up with a audi technician to service my tranmsission for me, he did the service and months after the service the tranmsission started to make a sort of a whine sound right after it upshifts, I was able to have him come back twice to check the level, he said it was low when he checked it the first time, I probably drove the car 2000 miles give or take.. And he had to add maybe half a liter the first time. The second time I don't think he added very much at all if any, he told me if it keeps making the noise (which it still is) there is probably an issue, what would your recommendation be? @@garywu9742 Hi, I'm sorry for the late answer, I tried to reset as in the video and some of the shakes had gone but there was a litle bit of shake from gear 1 to 2 mostly when it's cold. Now it seems to dissapear or I got in use with it. I asked one of my friends who repair all kind of automatic gears and he said that that it works normally becouse after a mileage the selenoid valve block get's weaker. He tried my car and he said that the gears are still working fine. Depends on what type of gearbox is...newer cars have more gears and different throttle who makes newer models to change much smoother. I hope all this story helps. I wish you all the best.

Hi Gogi, sorry just saw this reply it went into spam. I think it’s because your car being underpowered. There’s nothing wrong with ur car nor was there an issue with my honda Thank you so much for liking my videos and subscribing, I really appreciate it
Hi Gordon, this basically resets ur transmission gearing. With most of these modern cars, they adapt to ur style of driving. So if u rev high, it adapts to that. If u drive like a grandma, shifting very low rpms, then it adapts to that. And sometimes u just end up having a jerky transmission experience

Hello . I got a lot of issues on my audi a3 2012 regarding gearbox adaptations after changing the clutch (p177c and p177b) Do you think this will help ? Audi a3 2012 1.6tdi dsg s-tronic .
Thank you for your work and making video. Audi A6 2012 cvt. I have huge hesitation only on start on uphill or on hard gas pedal press. I read that CVT reset may actually misadjust the clutch engagement with gear on older cars. Do you think it’s possible and Do you think reset may fix my issue. Thanks man.
@@henrylopez3630 The mentioned solution did not work for me. But it was part of the solution. Something very simple resolved my issues. I did it myself. You need to do adaptation, which is done in specialized workshops like Audi. However you can try do it yourselft. First do the part described in video. Then move the car forward like 10 to 15 metes. it is important not to exceed 10 km/h and 750 - 850 revs. Do it very slowly, when stopping try to engage with pedal little by little- same goes with acceleration pedal. Repeat that process three times. Then do same thing backwards. Turn off ignition- wait few minutes. This helped me and resolved my problem. However it is on my driving I guess as it has apperared again after few months. But belive me transmission was like new.
Hey so I have a 2015 Audi A3 1.8 TFSI Sportback S-Tronic and after getting a new clutch kit, and having the positioning sensor replaced on my already freshly refurbished Mechatronic unit, the car judders in second gear and Reverse. It's like it's holding on the second gear a bit to long. Especially in Traffic. Will give this a test and get back to everyone here. Fingers cross this works!
Question: At 0:57 - with your foot on the pedal and the ignition already ON, did you turn ON the engine? I can hear the engine turned over. I thought you're supposed to turn it off. Anyhow, good tip.
Thanks for the video. Do I depress the accelerator past the point of resistance? And what would you estimate the wait time after turning the ignition off?
MrCarMAN ok, cause there’s that click you get when you want max power when driving, when you push it past the point of resistance the car drops one gear in order to give you maximum power. Was just wondering whether I should press it to that point.
I have a Hyundai Accent Blue 1.4 6-speed automatic transmission vehicle. It shakes when shifting gears at around 2100 rpm at 60-70 km/h at the first start. Hey, will try this tomorrow. One question, is it normal for my Audi a5 automatic(140kw/190hp), that wheels slip on some wet hills even tho i have good winter tires. Like i put gear to D, give gas and car still stays, when i give more gas wheels start slipping and car goes forward. Is that normal? Only happens in hill in garage(heres some slip hoarse concrete with slippery pebbles.) it doesnt happen on asphalt or so.. xan that be a reason? And when i dont give enough gas on that hill the car will turn off and i have to start it again. So only happens on this garage hill, rly weird.. Also in asphalt hill car starts moving a bit forward when in D while on this hill it just stays(without break even) and doesnt go forward a bit. Thanks man!

You saved me £3000
The last time my car was doing the same I took it to Audi specialist and he charged me £3000 , this happened again , it was because of my battery was flat , so I did exactly the way you explained and it worked straight away ,
The first time I had same issue my battery was flat and the gear couldn’t go to D1 it was only D2 ! And wile I was driving it jumped to D4 so there was no D3 or D 5 or D6 &D7 , as I said the Audi specialist told me I had to change the gearbox and the clutch , and it cost 3 thousand pound !
I was watching this video at 3 in the morning and went out to the car and did this and went for half hour drive and feel the happiest man in this planet, thanks to you hope Allah God makes you happy 🤲🤲🤲

If you ever come to Scotland I will give you free haircut sir 😊
I did that on my 2020 Q3 and it drive like new. Fantastic! Thank you sir !
And thank you for sharing that advice

I’ll be honest with you, I thought this thing was not gonna work. But it did work.
It is a 2011 audi a4 with almost 93k on the clock. Thank you!

He tried my car and he said that the gears are still working fine. Depends on what type of gearbox is...newer cars have more gears and different throttle who makes newer models to change much smoother. I hope all this story helps. I wish you all the best.

hi, is this step can do in Honda CVT?
Yes u can
Do you know how this helps the car? like explanation-wise? (just curious)
other than that, thanks !
So doing this reset, it resets the computer to basically a new cycle and then it can adapt to ur style of driving. There is no harm in trying this

Hey, did you get your problem solved? Im looking at the same situation and im searching for possible fixes

Thanks for the video. Do I depress the accelerator past the point of resistance? And what would you estimate the wait time after turning the ignition off?
Yes and yes, all mentioned in the video

Hi my audi a6 no pulling well like before change oil and all filters and still same turbo is OK 2 maybe I have same problem like u show on video?
Yes this might be the issue. Please let me know how it goes for you after the reset
Hello I have a 2001 audi a6 automatic my car drives but it seems like it doesnt change gears and my tiptronic does not work will this fix the problem or do you know what the problem could be with my transmission
Hi Dom u might need a transmission flush. Have u scanned for codes yet?
@@MrCARman no I haven't ' is a transmission flush is letting out any old fluids if theres any in there and putting new transmission fluid in it ..car been sitting for a while before I just put it back on the ride and thank you for your response
Hmmm will this work on a 2016 A7? I’m just afraid of breaking something if I try it and my car won’t start lol. The weird hesitation/acceleration lag when driving grandma speeds is when the shifting doesn’t seem right or as smooth in the low start off gears. Like it quickly clunks in and out of the lower gears when coming from a full stop. Appreciate any input!
Hi yes this will work on your Audi A7 2016
There is NO harm in doing this reset, it can only benefit your car. All it does is resets your shift points so you car shifts like new
MrCarMAN thank you! Quick response I’ll be trying this tomorrow afternoon! Was going to take to dealership this week about it since I still have warranty. Just on the fence about if this works then I’ll be damn, that was a quick fix,or will this fix the issue but only temporarily masking a bigger issue? 🤔
Hear a lot about it being the mechatronic unit as the final fix of these goofy transmissions
It’s great that u got warranty, best to get a new transmission installed from the stealership if this doesn’t fix it
Day 2 after trying this. So far the transmission has been smoother than usual! My TCU was probably throwing the gearbox malfunction error code during some gear changes but so far so good after this! Fingers crossed 🤞.
Thanks man!
Nice work!
Thank you, I really appreciate the great comment! Thank you once again for subscribing to the channel and sharing the video!

I have a problem in my 2011 Audi A6 C6 2.0Tdi with the multitronic gearbox. When I shift from Neutral to Drive or Neutral to Reverse, the whole car jerks/gives a shock. Do you think this would solve the problem or do you know what it might be?? Btw just changed transmission fluid few months ago. Plss answer!!😢
So on a Q7 2008, it’s the same procedure? I tried but didn’t remark a change on shifting. After reset, turn engine on and put on D and go with slowly acceleration how much time?
Hey man i got a message gearbox malfunctions May continue driving. Now my shift knob is stuck in park and to move it i have to press the neutral safety switch in the ashtray every time i need to shift. Any advice
Hi Simon, I would unplug ur battery for an hour and let the system fully reset
