  • Get to known one of China's heroes from history. You think Columbus sailed a long way? Not compared to this guy, Admiral Zheng He who went further from his home in China, in much bigger ships and 50 years before Columbus. You gotta know about him!

    The speed of ship-building should invalidate the Zheng He fleet. It was reported in Chinese accounts that it took the Chinese 3 days to build one ship, 3 days per ship. And the size of the ship was about the same size of a football field. To build one such huge ship in only 3 days is just unbelievable.

      @@nowyouknowabout : There are many other reasons that will show Zheng He's ships are a hoax. One of them is: his huge wind-powered football-size ships had sailed against the Yangtze River current going from the sea to Nanjing.

    His real name was Ma Hi. However, he has not given his due share of greatness in history of China, due credit must be given to the deserved General Zhang Hi (Real name: MA Hi) and may his soul rest in peace.

    Let me provide some information for the video. 1, the name HE is pronounced wrongly. It should be pronounced as "Ha", as in "hello". 2, reasons for his expeditions to be then stopped was due to his success, then increasing popularity and then threatened the vested interests of government officials who then persuaded the emperor to stop all such voyages. They even black mouthed him for possible rebels if he kept on commanding large navy power. As such, all boats were ordered to be destroyed, together with all technical drawings for constructing these sophisticated boats.
    He is a great hero.

    Zheng He's voyages were just a hoax. Only the Chinese people would believe them to be a history, which was touted as China had ruled over all the seas about 500 years ago.

    • @whkwole6842
      @whkwole6842 5 років тому

      @Dan Man : I agree that nobody ruled the seas 500 years ago. Maybe you would also believe, 500 years ago nobody was able to build seagoing ships as huge as 100 meters x 40 meters completely with wood powered by sails.

    • @whkwole6842
      @whkwole6842 5 років тому

      @Dan Man : Historians who support the Zheng He story relied on the book call 瀛涯勝覽, written by Ma Huan 马欢, who claimed he served as an interpreter to Zheng He. In his book he gave the sizes of Zheng's Treasure ships. The sizes were quoted in wikipedia. If you search "zheng he's voyages, you will get the wikipedia page about Zheng He's ships, in English.

    • @whkwole6842
      @whkwole6842 5 років тому

      @Dan Man : No I don't know how to answer your question because there is only one source. People just copied one another. Have you found out how many ships Zheng He commanded? The number is 317 and everybody uses this number.

    • @whkwole6842
      @whkwole6842 5 років тому

      @Dan Man : Yes, the size of Zheng He's Treasure ships was said to be 444 chi=127 meter long. You did not get the width, which was given as 171 chi = 57 meter wide. This size 127 x 57 is about 2 : 1. Such a ratio might lead the ship to be incapable of moving forward under sail-power, but to spin at the same location in the sea. It is a very good idea to build a replica (as you suggested) to find out.
      Ma Huan lived 500 years ago. He was not a shipwright engineer. The sizes he gave did not come from the shipbuilders, and therefore should be highly suspected.
