- Maybe you've done this a thousand times or maybe you've never kept a fish before but want to keep one and fillet it yourself. Captain Ross and B Team Bob start with tips on how to care for your fish after you catch it, how to prep your cleaning area, how to transport your fish to the cleaning table, and then show you the most basic, easy fillet method that anyone can learn in minutes. They also show you how to package your walleye for transport and then prep for the freezer for amazing meals later! Need some recipe ideas for walleye? Check out our cooking videos on this channel too!
Capt. Ross Robertson has made his complete living chasing walleye as a full time professional angler for more than 20 years. Through the years he has worn many hats including time as a fishing guide, boat salesman, TV host, outdoor writer, product designer, tournament fisherman, speaker, radio host and podcaster to name a few.
Ross fishes ice-out to ice-up on the Great Lakes. He spends the majority of the year walleye fishing on Lake Erie’s Western and Central basins.

Thank you. It's always nice to watch what others do and pick up tips.
Think I'll try it next time . I like the idea of having more freezer space . 👍🎣
Freezing in water has not failed me yet. But to each their own!
How I've done it in the past as well....but so much less space is taken up is nice
I'm with you and I can hold fish in the freezer for up to 17 years According to @Chef Jon Pierre lol. But really, it will hold for a very long time.
@BteamBob Then why not vac seal them, there is still air inside them. Isn't it the exposure to air that will create freezer burn?
Nice to see different ways but l thought Bob's way was kinda wasteful. Threw away to much rib and fillet meat...and yes, l save the cheeks and wings of walleyes over 17 inch
Nice job....
Thank you
Gotta try a vacum chamber avid armor brand has been great for me last 5 seasons bags are cheap and they dont have to be dry!
Have one. The dryer they are even in that the longer they last
Great video . How did your leg extenders keep that height ? Is there a screw in pvc below bottom of table leg to hold it up?
They just bottom out in the legs...slide them in no hardware , easy to take off when you fold it up
@@Bigwaterfishing awesome thx ! How long were those pvc pipes ? 18”?
2” diameter ?
Thanks again .
@markpowell6240 each table will be different. Measure how much you want to lift table and then take into account how far the tubes go onto legs
@@Bigwaterfishing ok thx!
Lost me on the wildlife officer 🤷♂️ never has the DNR knocked at my door demanding to inspect my freezer or campsite inspecting coolers 🤔
He will now😉
@@Bigwaterfishing 🤦♂️ 🤣🤣🤣
Good information. More than one way to skin a cat and more than one way to skin a walleye.
Agree
No cheeks, wings or wafers. Not a useful way for a captain to clean their catch. Can process a lot more in the time it took to do that just one. To each their own tho.
We were shooting a video not doing a speed competition
I am SHOCKED at the waste there was with this method! I "could" provide more comments, but to each their own........
What about the cheeks and wings?
Another video for another day
..maybe soon😉
Quite the salesman
How long have those knifes lasted? They look way better easier to use!
It's the newer rapala lithium and they have been very good
2 words......vacuum sealer!
Wasting half the fish😢
