Paint the power switch with yellow finger nail polish. it holds up to the weather pretty well and is relatively cheap and one bottle will last you quite a while.
@@MyHamRadioJourney I get the video, it was awesome. I’m trying to figure out the yellow finger nail polish and where that solves a problem. Great video. Can’t wait to hear about the trip.
Yes…. My next video…..to spare you the pain (of watching the video😂)…. I did the visual inspection but not well enough! A small piece of cut solder and a minute piece of wire was sitting between pins on the CPU…. No smoke but…. 💀
Very nice kit! I've been in and out of ham radio for a few years and the bug is biting again. Still struggling with cwm but I really want to get better! By the way, I swear that I've seen you on another YT channel, motorcycle related.
@@MyHamRadioJourney Maybe! I've got another YT channel, motorcycle related. I follow the likes of NC Stoney, Bronco Ride, etc. I've got one POTA under my belt, a few years ago, I just picked up an IC-705...among other QRP rigs. 73!
@@MyHamRadioJourney Yes, HDR was the channel! This is my other channel. I actually went on a ride with Colin several years ago right after he got his PA. Ride safe, good DX! 73.
I also have this sweet little QMX but found it’s VERY voltage sensitive as it doesn’t react well to more than 12 volts. I only use 9v max on mine. Do you step down the 12v output or just use the 5v output on the battery?

Very interesting. Thanks for watching. 73s
If he's like the rest of us old guys the bottle of yellow polish will last a life time...:)
I’m missing something. What problem is this solving or is it just to add a bit of flair? I’m intrigued.
@@cchalfantusa This is just a demonstration of how to have an entire radio rig in a small package. Thanks for watching, and 73s.

My QMX, I built and destroyed 😦....but just finished a 12 band QMX plus and....IT'S ALIVE!!! 73 de VK2AOE. QRP Labs are awesome.
How did you destroy it? Maybe a public service announcement for other QRP Labs fans.

Could be Harley Day Rider? I was out of radio for years but wanted to get back to CW. Also enjoy POTA. Thanks for watching. 73s

What was your wait time like for the QMX?
When I ordered mine it was 6 weeks assembled. The kits ship quicker. Thanks for watching. 73s
You’ll have to let us know how it worked for you in PR and if you ran in to any extra scrutiny by TSA.
My wife is worried about the TSA. I don’t know to carry it on or put in our checked baggage. Thanks for watching. 73s
