I love the way you encourage people to just jump in, but warn about the rocks along the way. I am not a total beginner but I learn things from you. There are very few prople in the millions of videos I have watched who mention characteristics of the fabric, needle size and stitch length. I love your bright bubbly personality and genuine love for getting into your sewing projects. Thank you so much for sharing all of it.
I bought myself a serger, I took it out of the box, put the cover over it and that's where it's been for a month. I watch this video and now I think I'm ready to take that leap! 🤸🏾🤪
I ended up going on eBay and found a Singer brand brand new in original packaging Cutter Foot that mimics a serger machine that is used on your regular sewing machine. They range between $10-60 depending on where you go to purchase them. I know Joann’s carries them as well. I bought mine for $9 on eBay in brand name, not counterfeit either. It looks a lot like the Singer walking foot with the housing. Pay attention to your sewing machine whether it has high or low shank. It connects exactly like the walking foot. There’s UA-cam videos that shows and explains in great detail how to properly use them and how to load your fabric properly to get it to cut. Although it doesn’t do everything that a serger machine can do, it will give a nice clean finished edge. I hope this helps someone, it’s like a baby step towards getting a serger machine.
@@DH-qz2so, no problem! Both Amazon and eBay sell them. I just typed in “side cutter foot” in the search bar in both apps. I ended up going with eBay because they had Singer brand name and the one I got was listed as auction or best offer. They had it listed for $13, I offered $9 and got it with free shipping. The brand name Singer foot typically runs about $20 on eBay with free shipping. At Joann’s Fabric they wanted almost $70 for the same exact kit (I got 3 feet in the same package). So even at $20 new is still a really great deal for brand name. They sell same thing unbranded from China too. There’s tons of UA-cam videos and tutorials on how to properly install and load your material into the foot. There’s lots of reviews from people on UA-cam too that are true because they didn’t pay attention on the instructions of how to properly load the material into the foot and wouldn’t cut for them. Just be discerning with UA-cam videos for tutorials. I promise you won’t regret getting one and learning how to load the material correctly into the foot to “serge” and sew. Plus it’s only 2 threads used, your upper and bobbin thread with a zigzag stitch. It’s an inexpensive route to try and learn before spending a couple hundred on a machine that can be intimidating and potentially collect dust lol. It’s always good to have the cutting foot anyway even if one has a serger. Use it as a backup in case the serger becomes inoperable or needs maintenance done. Good luck and I hope it works out for you! Have a beautiful and blessed day!!
You are such an amazing seamstress. That vest/kimono looked so beautiful especially over the dress you were wearing. I also love how encouraging you are. Thank you for all the projects you so patiently teach us. ❤
I love watching your videos. I have been sewing for years. I sew almost 80% on my serger. You are a joy to watch and thank you for making my day filled with laughter.
30 years ago my mom had a serger that had never been out of the box… I not only took it out of the box… I put at least a mile of sewing with it… now my sister has it and I’ve graduated to a little bit nicer serger albeit older than the one mom gave to my sister.
I only recently learned to use my serger. Don’t make clothes but your video has me wanting to make a cover up. You are so good at giving clear details and encourage everyone to try things.❤
I've been sewing for more than 5o years and I learn things from you every time I watch. You also don't talk down to me as a seasoned sewist or to the beginner. Thank you for your tutorials.
That is LOVELY fabric. How do you keep it from getting "eaten" by your feed dog area? I've had super cheap basic sewing machines all the way to my NEW computerized one EAT FABRIC in the FEED DOG area. Seems that the machine takes that FEED DOG too seriously. Thanks for the tutorial, LOVE IT!! great job. I LOVE how you use things that are easy to find around the house if necessary to sew with . That makes it SEW much easier on us everyday peeps that don't have a big sponsor buying us stuff to use. LOVE the tip on doing the CORNER of the neck or anything else --watched it 3 times to memorize it. OOOH and How to use the 1/4 inch seam allowance FOOT. I've got several FEET that I don't even know WHAT they're used for. Came with the machine or in a KIT with other FEET . I've got one of the 1/4 in. seam ones and NOW I know what it's for and HOW to use it. THANK YOU.
I appreciate you showing us how to make this and make it looks so easy. By the way that cover up goes so well with the dress you’re wearing❤. You rock!!!!
Neat! Have you considered maybe teaching beginning serger videos for newbies? Your teaching methods are insightful, patient yet professional and knowledgeable. It would be nice to get more in-depth demos and understanding of sergers overall. And I’ve heard threading and understanding parts/pieces would be amazing with your teaching methods. 🤞🏻
I just found your channel and I’m so happy to meet you, love how down to earth you are and relaxed you are. One thing that is so important to me is, most people I watch have the camera right down low on their projects and I do not like that at all. I guess I don’t understand why they do that. I guess they don’t want us to see them. I love how you are showing close and far. Thank you for sharing and being my new best friend. Take care. 😊 ❤❤ I am Linda Wilde and live in Ohio .
I’m so happy I found your channel! I love your encouraging personality! I needed you in my life. You explain everything thing to a beginners level. I sewed for many years, but I stopped a few years back. You have put the love of sewing back in me. Thank you for all you do. You are amazing!
Thank you for sharing You did a wonderful job. I love it! I love my overlocker, this what we call it in Australia. It saves heaps of time & finishes your sewing off beautifully.
Hey there. The first video I saw for you was the pyjama one. I was looking for a tutorial to do PJs for my kids and I came across yours. Something about your videos that feel like they are coming from your heart. 🌹 I like your messy (in a good way😉) room, where things are laying on the floor or a plastic bag hanged on the door knob makes it as real as our homes are. Not those neat well maintained well edited videos to show the best. No, it's kinda laid back conventional scene, not to mention how informative and how much you give all tips you can. 🌹 You're such a sweet person. Keep up the good work ❤😊🌹 🥰. All the best from Sweden 🇸🇪. 🌹
Yeah, I have a Babylock Celebrate serger too and I love it. I never have a problem with the stitches going wonky or anything. I am currently using mine to sew up the cardigan pieces I've knit and it works like a dream - no more hand sewing knitted pieces together - win-win!
Well I have been on the fence about buying a serger for almost a year since buying my Brother sewing machine that has 290 different stitches .....and I have used maybe 7 😂.... obviously not the "serger quality " I think you just convinced me to tell my husband to get his bank card ready and take the leap cause Chelsea said so 😉 beautiful cover up 💕
I love your tutorials . You are so happy and bubbly and encouraging. And yes I have a serger brand new in an unopened box in my garage! You spoke to me! I may get it out ! 😂😊
I love your videos, and find them so helpful. Just recently got a serger - I'm more of an upcycler than a new garment creator, but I learn so much from you and find you so encouraging.
Thank you for making this look so easy. I have adhd and never want to do something by myself unless I have someone with me “holding my hand”. I think it’s more that I want someone experienced within arms reach that can explain stuff to me so I don’t waste my time and it becomes yet another unfinished project, which I have a TON of. I almost bought a serger and have always wanted to but I needed to know the difference and the benefits, etc. It’s probably why I bought a sewing machine from Walmart in case I break it. Honestly the information to teach myself is daunting so aside from the easy little projects I try to do haphazardly is no longer enough for me and want to sew nicer things for my family members like this
Lol I am so glad that I have found your channel you are going to be my motivation this year. I have a serger 😊. I have had it for 2 1/2 to 3 years and still haven’t removed it out the packaging lol thank you I’ve also wanted to make this very long cover-up and here you are.
Had to subscribe as soon as I saw the toy horse by your Juki serger in the first part of your video. Reminded me of sewing when my kids were little. ❤. What a wonderful sewing project. Thank you

Very pretty overlay. You have two overlocks?
Thank you so much for this video 💚 Could you tell me how tall you are? I’m always looking for good patterns to fit (I’m 6ft and plus) it’s really helpful to know. Thank you 😊
I use French seams. I’m a little boujee 🤣🤣🤣
I use my server on all fabrics. Not sure why anyone would only use it on knits...Otherwise your video is wonderful!
I just want to say I like you very much. That's all! ❤
Thank you! 😃
