Just back from a LV trip where i stayed in 3 hotels, El Cortez Downtown, Venetian, and the Strat. My favorite of the 3 was the Strat by a mile! Got a refurbed room which was fantastic, personally, I love the location as it's close to the Arts District with its cool independent food & craft beer scene and just a short bus away from both Downtown & Strip. I'm so over the Strip though, I find it overwhelming.
Note!!! This is not the typical room at the strat. Those cheap rooms you see online are in the dump section of the hotel that looks like a ran down super 8. If you are going to stay here make sure its either in the blvd suites or the elevate rooms
Request the Central Tower when booking. Just stayed (9/16-9/18/22). The rooms were fully renovated and well appointed; corner L-shaped settee/couch, a fixed luggage console table, not your typical foldable luggage rack, an oversized, square-shaped, leather ottoman, mini fridge, coffee bar complete with amenities, and a mini safe. The room was even equipped with motion-censored night stands, which was a nice touch when getting out of bed to use the restroom in the middle of the night… feet roll of bed, floors instantly illuminated.

I stayed there a few years ago. I agree with pretty much everything here. The location isn't great. But it does make it easier to set your own pace. Its not far from the action so a $5 Uber ride gets you to all the excitement you want, but if you want to slow it down for a bit, you can do that too. The pool area is also great. This looks like a winter visit so the pool wasn't included but they have a really nice adults only pool, and an all ages pool as well. Both are very nice, plenty of space, plenty of free seating, and plenty of drink service. I would also note that they have a fantastic diner just off the casino floor for the budget conscious. My buddies and I utilized the $3.99 breakfast special a few times while we were there, and the $5.99 late night burger special once. The price is the most special part of it, but you don't want to spend a lot of money on late night food that is only intended to absorb the "fun" you've been having all day, and a burger, fries, and a beer for $5.99 is perfect for that.
I stayed at the Strat in 2016 and I'm impressed with the remodel! I did like the value of the rooms and to travel to the strip proper I walked to the SLS (now Sahara) where the Northernmost monorail station was and used that all weekend, even at night I didn't think the area seemed shady but I know others may not feel as safe doing that walk.
Great timing for your video to appear on my recommended for you! I will be staying at the Strat the weekend of September 16, 2022. I got the category of a person getting away from the strip and being somewhere different!

I've been to Vegas about 5 or 6 times and I usually only stay at TUSCANY, but this past 4th of July, all the lower priced rooms were gone, so i choose the Strat. The plan was to go into the Tower and watch the fireworks show but i change my mind and watch from street level. OK so while the room was very nice ,the 2 things i didn't enjoy was 1)YOU CAN'T SEE THE STRIP FROM YOUR ROOM, you couldn't see all the lights up the boulevard. And 2) NO MINI FRIDGE, i really really got spoiled with having one, if i bought some cold drinks(Pop and water ),i either had to drink them right away to get the cold benefits in that 100 plus degree weather or go down for ice, but the AC worked really well, i had to get up a few nights to turn it off because the room got too chilly. Traveling up the STRIP was easy, you can either walk, if you can take the heat or pay $5 or $8( depending on what you want) for all day passes and ride a REFRIGERATED BUS 🤣🤣🤣🤣 WHAO JACK !!!! WOW that felt so good in that OVEN type heat.
I just stayed at the strat this weekend. Won’t be staying there anymore. Just visit. The “upgraded” room was nothing to brag about. The vinyl flooring was coming up. Maybe if I had your room it would’ve been better.

Stayed there and had the same experience. Didn’t eat at the top of the world but I did jump off the strat and if it wasn’t 100$ I would do it again and I’d say a short walk to Sahara and the monorail and you can be center strip in like 15 min and the area has dramatically gotten better. The city has a plan to revamp the north and haven’t stopped since 2019 lots of new things like the arches out front and Sahara’s all new. Fountaine blue announced it would open ahead of schedule.
The Fontaine Blue could potentially revitalize that area. I'm excited for that hotel to "finally" open.
Fountainebleu's opening will tie it all in.

Agreed, I just got back from there and I walked everywhere and never found it to be any more dangerous than anywhere else. Each night I walked into the Arts District & never got any hassle, and didn't see many homeless like you see just a short walk off the strip at locations like Ellis Island.
A wedding chapel, huh? I'm blown away, James. My trip to the Strat was breath-taking! The ambiance and courtesy of all staff were outstanding for me. I'll have to try the steakhouse next time, no doubt!

Great review as always. I stayed there probably 15 years ago and the hotel was rundown and definitely needed to be renovated. I’m glad they have cleaned it up and done some impressive renovations. My meal at the Top Of The World restaurant was the highlight of the place - great food and stunning views. Keep up the great work - always love your reviews and have been binging on them 🤦♂️🤦♂️

Request the CENTRAL TOWER when booking. Just stayed (9/16-9/18/22). And yes, the beds are 100% comfortable. Free parking was a gem as well and was more than convenient. This applies on the 4th-7th floor of the Self Parking Garage. The lower levels are used for Valet Parking and paid VIP parking.

I love the Strat! Last time I stayed there (drove to Vegas) I would drive to wynn and the fashion show mall which are near by.
The strat has come a long way that's for sure.

just walk across the street to the sahara. take the monorail up to harras . that will put you mid strip. the monorail is 5 bucks each way and gets cheaper the more rides you pre pay for.

Even though it's far away from the strip, it's a 15 minute walk to the monorail station at Sahara, so you can get around. The area around the Strat is sketchy, so use the monorail by day but definitely take a taxi at night. I will say you get a really good relatively low room price to help compensate for being off strip. The tower is so cool and the rides on top are fun, as is the observation deck. However, after a couple days you will definitely want to go check out other areas on the strip.

If you sign up for true rewards it's very easy to get free nights there and Freeplay money. I always have free nights there and dining credits and I don't even gamble that much there

I strongly agree with you that the main reason the STRAT still gets such a bad rap by many is because of preconceived notions its predecessor left. After all, STRAT is short for Stratosphere so it's easy to see why many would assume it's the same song and dance under different packaging. Which is a shame because the STRAT staff deserve an A+ for effort in going above and beyond in re-inventing what had such a horrendous reputation in its previous incarnation when they EASILY could have chosen not to. That DEMANDS respect.
I still consider the Sahara the best Strip value resort (yes, I dare insist the STRAT IS a Strip resort because the Las Vegas sign is what demarcates the City of Las Vegas itself and its authority from the Clark County Commissioner's Office, and STRAT resides squarely in the latter thus, it's a Strip resort)........................but the STRAT would still impressively come in third on my list just behind that and the LINQ. The awful bed at the STRAT compared to the decent beds at both Sahara and LINQ admittedly influence how I'd rank them, but LINQ EASILY has the best location between the three and Sahara has more amenities. Still, STRAT is amazing in value. =)
Yeah, I'd rate the STRAT a 2.5 myself. It doesn't have enough on-site amenities to quite reach a 3 in my view, but again this place really had no business ever being decent to begin with and yet the genuine passion and effort the new management poured into giving a damn in its reinvention DEMANDS soooooooooooooo much respect. With just a few more dining options and maybe a distinctive nightclub, it would probably be enough to give it a 3. It's just that impressive. =)

I am considering staying here for a few days solo soon. I have to go to Vegas solo for business during the week soon but then I am going to turn it into a little mini vacation and am considering the remodeled Strat to stay at for two or three nights. I have been to Vegas many times but have never been there.
My main concern is having enough to do there and I will likely hit up the North Strip Properties and Downtown. Have done Vegas many times but always stayed South or Mid Strip and have done all that as well as the Palms/Rio off strip area.
Just looking for a decent deal for a few nights and would like to explore some new places but a little concerned about the Strat location and I don't want to be bored there.
I am not really a club guy but enjoy drinking and hitting up some bars/lounges.
We were downtown last night, had a blast. Trip has been epic so far.

Why isn't this hotel considered on the strip ? I google mapped it an seems right on Las Vegas Blvd.
From their wiki page: "The Stratosphere is located within city limits on Las Vegas Boulevard, just north of the Las Vegas Strip. The resort is sometimes considered to be a Strip property, although Clark County does not officially recognize it as such, stating that the Strip does not extend into city limits."

The revolving dining room reminds me of Reunion Tower is Dallas.. (a must try place) I believe Reunion Tower is a Wolfgang Puck restaurant now.. but a long time ago.. (late 90s/early 00's) had a wonderful Christmas ATCE buffet...miss those days

I was one of those that was sworn off that place. But the remodel and rebrand has done it wonders.

Update, I just called the Strat and the Blvd Suite for a day like in february 24th and it goes for 129. plus resort fees/ you may need to get it Monday -Thursday for the lowest possible rate also the site will only show it if it is available for the day you want it . i thought i provide this info
I kinda wished he did a basic room. here is why, i stayed at the strat 2008 it was cool 2nd room stay (2010) was bad, bad view of the blight of vegas. no flat panel. TV the suite looks cool. but i would like to see what the basic rooms look like after the remodel. but after my trip to the Strat in 2010, i vowed if i ever come back to vegas, i am getting a room on the strip 2021 i got a room at the paris , right in the middle. Paris was cool -better than the Strat -but the location was awesome.
The basic rooms are scary and smell like cigarette smoke (or the special spray that housekeeping uses to control difficult to remove odors) and sometimes marijuana comes wafting in through the AC.
It definitely is a horrible place and he isn’t being 100% accurate in his description of what is happening in the hotel part.
Also it hasn’t been fully remodeled. They have only remodeled some rooms but the majority rooms have not been remodeled in years.

my room was run down, i stayed these last month. even the window dont open for fresh air and the bathroom fan was very weak

Stayed here right after the change from Stratosphere to the Strat and we said never again. When checking in I was asked if we wanted a room with central air. Uh yeah, it’s late April with the high averaging in the 90’s. I was then told that a refrigerator and a coffee maker in the room is an upgrade. Going to the parking garage we encountered the hotel security with LVPD and their drug dog running down the stairs. When driving off the property, straight ahead was a housing complex straight out of New Jack City, to the right we’re abandoned houses that look like a set from the walking dead. The ONLY safe way out was to the left towards the lights of the strip. We went across the street to I think a Walgreens. I wanted to stay in the car but as we were parking a pimp and one of his girls were having an argument about her nightly quota. All of this happened within a 2 hours time frame. The hotel was fine, the crowd it attracted and the location makes this a hard pass for us.
agreed ..this place went downhill fast.....maybye a new facelift but i was there two weeks ago and the servicewas awful and more homeless and security than i remember....was better when it few years back before covid..
We stayed May of 2021. The restaurant’s were closed on a Tuesday. Pot smoke everywhere and I mean everywhere. At the pool area people were smoking pot so many children around. We had a horrible experience.
It’s 2022 your going to pretty much smell/and see pot smoking any where it’s permitted in America. That’s just the harsh reality of what America is at this point. Sorry your experience was dull

If the casino floor was up on top... I would buy in. To get all the way out there and pay to go up the tower and just have lookout windows and a ride that I chickened out of? Pass.
