- Sansevieria or also known as mother-in-laws tongue, devil's tongue or best known as SNAKE PLANT, has many ways to propagate it. In this video, I focused on snake plants propagation in soil by leaf cuttings and it's progress after 5 months time period.
I shared in the video the step-by-step procedure on how to propagate snake plants by leaf cuttings starting from cutting off the leaves and putting them in soil.
Sansevieria has many varieties. In this video, I have here sansevieria trifasciata hahnii or also known as bird's nest snake plant and also the golden hahnii and the trifasciata laurentii and starlite.

What kind of soil you are using?. I have snake plants and I would like to propagate like you do. I don't have that you can cut the leaves and propagate this way. I just throw the leaves when I cut them. Now I know. Thank you for sharing. New subscriber of yours from Florida.
When you plant snake plant from the leaf by cutting it. After cutting the snake plant leaf wait up to the leaf dry in order to avoid spoiled leaf then plant it to the soil mix by fertilizer.

Hello marie! It depends on what kind of plants. I used to use cow dung but now i change to carbonize rice hull mix with potting soil.

Hello! Yes indeed it is much better in soil than in water. Water can be an alternative if you don't have a garden soil yet. I also have a video of propagating them in water but haven't uploaded yet.

This may sound like a dumb question but am wondering the cut pieces the are flat at the top grow into a point eventually?

Hello! So long you insert the bottom part of the leaf cuttings in the soil it will likely to grow roots. The top part will not root at all.

all "pups" or clippings are their own unique plants and have full potential given proper conditions.

my leaf cutting has already rooted yet for some montjs now ...none of them sprouted babies yet
Hello! Some leaf cutting may take a while but then I also have cases that it never really shoot a pup.

Hi there! Infestation of thrips is the common cause of the curling leaves for snake plant.

@@hugebelle Hi, only the bottom half (the old leaves that existed from store) are curling, the newly shoot leaves are straight and green, is it also infestation? If yes, can I repot by removing the "old leaves"?

I repoted two snake plant leaves..but within a few days they turned yellow n leaf lost its rigidity...i.had to throw dem away.what hapnd?

Hello there. Do you mean that tiny white short worms? I have encounter something like that before so I just throw away the soil. What I usually do nowadays before I start potting, I pour boiling water to the soil that I will use then let it dry before using it.

Hello there! Yes indeed. The watering in the beginning is the important part. The cuttings should not soak or stand in wet soil for long. So just adjust on the watering part.

Hello. Which part went wrong? I could only guess it might be the soil is wet always.
Water them only when the soil is dry. I used to kill heaps of the plants by watering them often. Until my aunt told me to do it only once or twice a month. Lo and behold they are now healthy and multiplying quickly.

Hello! We learn from our experience. Just try it again if you got cuttings again. I water them only when the soil becomes dry. Moisten the soil only.
I made that mistake, too. Twice a week is too much water. They say to give very little water every 10 days. I only water mine once a month and it’s doing just fine! Then again, I live in a humid area.
