Tune it! It took me a few days to get there but got mine perfect. Drop shut, no blade play and no button stick. The primary thing is to shim the stop pin end and to prevent the scales from pinching the blade when deploying. It’s now near the top of my list.
After 2 years of missing drops I got one today. Framelock though but I’m happy. Wife won’t be but we got some time till the end of the month when we review bank statements
You should look at the VECP 3.0 w/ polished look on washers w/ Thumbstud.. WOW it's amazing looking.. my buddy said iits his favorite and he has some absolute Bangers...
Les George knives is one of the smoothest washer experiences you will ever have. Especially at that price point. Most knife makers/manufacturers CAN’T make a knife on washers drop shut or drop shut with a shake or two. When you look at the whole package, Les George is one of the best out there imho. That said, if I’m not mistaken, Les George has bearing versions out there!
Perhaps. I’ve talked to 3 other people that had to disassemble and adjust this model, so albeit smooth, the final parameters seem to be off and/or QC isn’t great.
@@pocketpriorities Is it possible that the example you have might be a lemon? Or have you seen/heard other people having the same issue? I wonder because a lot of people & reviewers swear by his knives. I’ve only handled 2 pieces and they were lovely. I’m pretty sure his newest batches are running on bearings with MagnaCut blades, maybe check one of those out? Either way, keep up the great work boss man! Love the content, I feel like we have the EXACT same taste in knives lol.
@@4rmys4e48 I mean, Les George knives have been shown to be pretty drop shut. Not sure where you’re getting that from? Also, the XM18 is a heavier blade so it’s not really a testament to the washer action itself.
Valley engineering change proposal I think is what VECP stood for if I remember correctly. I love less knives, that will get better and better Dan. The more you use it and you can tune it for yourself too like any other. Give it a chance and let it break in. Let me know if you don't want to keep it, I'll take it😊
The one I have has blown me away, some of the smoothest action including zero lock stick. Would be curious if this one ever broke in after some use and tuning. If not it’s a bummer to see that sort of quality difference in a USA midtech.
I got one from DLT -- maybe the only one they had? I love it. It does take some time to break in, but now it's glassy smooth with vault-like lock up. You really have to take some time to dial the pivot in. IMO you can't judge a washer knife straight out of the box. And no offense, but the Pyrite is garbage in comparison. A better comparison would be Chris Reeve Sebenza or Umnumzaan. After months of tinkering, stud replacement, and a couple years of break in, my Sebenza still doesn't have the action I got from the VECP after an hour or so of tinkering. Love'em both, but they're different, and a washer knife is always going to be different from one on bearings. FYI, from Les's website: "VECP stands for Value Engineering Change Proposal..."
This man expects a brand new knife running on washers to drop shut like a bearing action!?😂....I personally would take B washers over bearings for a knife that is actually used and not just a little fidget toy!
Sorry, lovely hearing you’re batonning with your 3.5” folding knife and all, but sounds like you are missing the point. Regardless of tolerances, knives should be consistent from one example to another, these are not. That’s QC, not hard use vs fidget. I’ve seen 10+ examples of these and they are all over the place. That’s a failure by the maker.
Hey brother, if you decide to, I’d love to buy this one from you, if you can autograph the box with it! This is a super serious offer I’m asking for! Thanks, Chris
😂...Definitely not a professional !..If you think a brand new knife running on washers is going to drop shut like a knife running on bearings!....Yet does this man really use any of the knives he owns?! Think about it this man has like a dozen oz machine Roosevelt's and a dozen brown fsd's ect....
Feel like for those of us with larger hands, a longer handle is less of a "design flaw" and more of a godsend. Especially for smaller blades.
What?!? You got one! I heard it is insane running on PB washers. I’m watching now!! I’m still jealous. 😂

My XM18 dropped shut on washers with no adjustment. Same price. Les should be able to do the same.

How are you feeling about the knife at this point? Still solid lock up? No play up or down?
I am thinking of pulling the trigger on an unbelievably expensive one in morph scales is why I ask

Thanks! Apparently it needs a longer stop pin?

I would disassemble it clean all the shipping oil/grease out of the knife. Then relube with your favorite lube and reassemble and tune
Bearings on knives are basically...For the fidget factor...A toy!...Not for hard use!
That’s a very simple, binary way of of thinking about things.
I had mine in cart on USA Made Blade and by the time I tried to pay it was sold out. Interested in it if you decide to sell.
Same with Dlt
worth the difference of the mordax?
Totally different, I’d say so, but inconsistency on the action from other owners
let me know if you dont want to keep it i'd be willing to give it a try. thanks brother

Yeah but the sharks foot is so much handle but little blade too.
And an amazing knife to actually use. Not sure why longer handle gets the hate XD
