    The tank looks better with the plants in the background. Let's see if the geophagus let them in the substrate!

    Those Denison barbs are fish from India.... just saying
    Maybe Columbian red and blue tetras or black phantom tertas or serpae tetras would be good in this tank ... also coconut huts for them(apoisto/acara/rams) to breed in ... and a pleco cave ... so u can find him.
    Maybe u can find some Indian c8chlids to chill with those barbs...
    There are only three cichlid species endemic to India and they are all of the genus Etroplus - Etroplus suratensis / canarensis / maculatus. Their closest living relatives are the Paretroplus from Madagascar. These two ancient lineages split when Madagascar and the Indian Plate finished drifting apart by the end of the Cretaceous period 66 million years ago. Etroplus suratensis (Green Chromide) is native to India and Sri Lanka, and is primarily found in brackish water but tolerates fresh or marine waters for short periods. It is found in large rivers, reservoirs, lagoons and estuaries where it feeds on filamentous algae, plant material and insects. Etroplus canarensis (Canara Pearlspot) is endemic to South Karnataka in India. Unlike other members of the genus, it does not occur in brackish waters, being found in freshwater only. It is a much sought after cichlid, and somewhat rare in the aquarium hobby. The Orange Chromide (Etroplus maculatus) is endemic to freshwater and brackish streams, lagoons and estuaries and co-occurs throughout its range with the Green Chromide. In their natural setting, Orange Chromides prey on the eggs and young of E. suratensis and also act as a "cleaner fish" removing parasites from the much larger Green Chromides in a cleaning symbiosis

    Speaking of geophagus... Sorry, but I can't help it...you have some really beautiful fishes "hidden" in other tanks that deserved much more spotlight (I mean attention, more videos of them for us).
    I'm talking about the Gymnogeophagus Terrapurpura. They are relly, really beautiful fish, but you don't show them as much as they deserve.

    Wow...the fish and the tank all look amazing!!! I love the D. Barbs. They look great. I wanted to get some for my schooling fish but my tank is only a 75 gallon so just purchased 8 dwarf neon rainbow fish instead. I hope they get along well with my little geophagus topajos. He or she is proving to be a little fiesty but so stinking cute!!! I am curious to see if the Valisneria stays in the substrate because of all the Geophagus. What type of Val did you get (jungle or regular) as it looks so good. Are you able to share where you purchased your plants from? Thanks for another inspirational video:)

    Love the Geo. sveni. Have to say that, on your recommendation and your praise about their peaceful nature, I added 4 small Electric Blue Acaras to my Geophagus tank. Big Mistake. ELA are nor peaceful at all (especially the males) and after about a month started to attack my Geos, causing damage to my Male balzanii in particular. They are now living in a tank with three green Severums. I plan to rehome them. Very pretty fish but need to be in a tank with more aggressive fish.

    • @CichlidBros
      @CichlidBros  2 роки тому +1

      Sorry to hear they were aggressive. Most times they are peaceful as long as their tank is large enough and if they aren't breeding. Always can find outliers when it comes to individual cichlids though

  • @santosleeli
    @santosleeli 2 роки тому

    Nice setup and fish! Are there any peaceful geophagus you'd suggest for a 90 gallon? I just set it up - currently has a red spot severum, a festivum and a pair of Bolivian rams. I may add a female chocolate cichlid and/or an electric blue acara (inspired your videos!). Or let me know if you think this is enough stocking? 😊

    • @CichlidBros
      @CichlidBros  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you! A few geos would be a great addition, especially if you have a sand substrate in there already. EBAs would be good too. Love the chocolate but keep in mind they do get large, and a 75/90g is around the minimum I'd reco for them. Best of luck!
