    I get up at 2 AM and walk the city for a few hours carrying 8 pound weights in each hand, yes it sounds extreme but the human body is capable of amazing things so if you are a walker try incorporating weights in your routine starting with 2 pound weights and working your way up to the heavier weights, the results are fantastic.

    I understand his point... But most important is one should enjoy walking..
    If one is consistent, then speed automatically improves...
    If needed, one can jog Or run in between for few meters..

    Don’t overthink it. Enjoy it. Half an hour to my favourite Coffee shop and back. Reward yourself until you enjoy it for it’s own sake…

      agreed. I'm pretty sure anyone who walks for pleasure knows their own most efficient speed, though they may not have measured it. I for one am the explorer type. Part of the fun is motion, part is discovering new routes.

    Apparently I’m walking to slow although I’ve been told I walk fast. My health app says I’m walking 2.5 MPH. I’m 83 years old so I think I have slowed down. I walk 3 miles almost every day.

    I don’t mind if somebody walks slowly, but when you do walk on the damn side! I walk faster than a lot of people and I STILL WALK ON THE SIDE!

      what do you mean walk on the side? Side by side? or the side of grass or asphalt next to a sidewalk?

    When I push it my short legs have a hard time getting past 3.4 mph. Me and my wife average around 5.5 miles a day.

      3.4 mph is not a bad speed. If you are walking 5.5 miles a day that is fantastic! While walking speed is important, it is only one factor in your overall health.

      I can walk over 4 miles in one hour.
      I've walked one mile in 13:30

      Its not your short legs, you just dont have enough muscle there to move non muscle mass.

    This is interesting, but it's about one's natural/organic/without-thinking-about-it walking speed, yes? In other words, I just finished walking 6 miles and pushed my pace consciously versus the same distance the previous day but at a much more casual-stroll type pace.

    I walk way too fast, ppl literally think some wrong with me, I walk from 6 to 8 mph even reached 10 without trying.. no joke

    I am a teacher in a primary school....Today at lunch after having lunch I was going towards the hand Washing area and as I was free from classes after lunch so I was pretty relaxed and was walking slower . That's why I got scolded by the principal as she said that she doesn't like teachers walking slow...
    Maybe I am slow... I feel bad.... I couldn't say anything because she is kinda the Hitler type.

      There were people walking in front of me so I adjusted to their speed and when they dispersed, I guess I was still walking the same speed also the principal is an asshole

    I usually walk at 5.5 - 6 kph, for about 40 - 60 minutes, 3-4 times a week..is that bad? or under exercise..?

      what shoes are you using? I have the same problem but it's better in well cushioned walking shoes.

      @@bogdiworksV2 Nikes. Lol . What I learned was I have tight and weak calfs so I started doing full range calf raises and it subsided a bit.

      @@beaucarpenter4688 I got Skechers in wide ;-) also Merrell for hiking. There might be better shoes out there but for my budget these two do the trick and then some.

    I walk at around. 3.2 to 3.5 is tht to slow 🐌. Im super heavy now. I need to loose weight. 😫 i been averaging 15000 steps a day.

      Walk prior to your first meal of the day.
      Wake up,
      16oz water with a tablespoon or two of Apple cider vinegar and a packet of electrolyte mix.I use Propel
      Shake, drink, then go walking, or biking.

    I started walking with speed of 3-3.5 for first few days ( 1 week ) and jumped to 5 and 5.5 ( 2 and 3 week ) and on my fourth week I walk with speed of 7 -7.5 easily on treadmill with 5 incline 🤩 🥵

      Yo Joey, I am 62 years old and just walked one mile in 11 minutes and 46 seconds. I think that averages 5.2 miles per hour, guess not too bad for my age.

      That is certainly within the range of normal. As long as you are able to walk faster when needed a slightly slower pace is of no concern.

      @@MissionGait my best personal record for long walk yesterday im doing 4 hour long walk nonstop,i use bladder water bag ,get 20km.pace about 10minute to 11.15minute,after about 4 hour walk my hr getting low,hr 100,114 ,120,mybe im to tired to walk fast after long walk

      If that is in miles per hour, it's not bad. A little bit slower than average, but often this can be normal depending on the person.
