The point Caroline makes at 47:00 is so true. I had a best friend who felt that way about alcohol. Thankfully, I knew better than to tell them straight up "Don't do this. It's bad for you". Because to a degree they already knew it was bad for them. But yeah since before I met them they described that they felt happy when they were drunk. Addiction is a difficult illness.
Exactly so many people Tryna get me to quite r like “yk it’s bad for u” like yeah i do actually I just don’t care in fact one of the best things that has got me slowing down now was the question “what would it take for u to quite” and they went through a bunch of scenarios and going through those made me realise drugs are my response to literally everything
Caroline saying she's envious of Sammie being able to approach their conversations diplomatically made my eyes a little bit watery for whatever reason. I hope we get a lot more of these episodes.
55:28 this is why some level of scientific literacy is so important. You deserve to know what’s happening to you and how to find credible sources on it.
Was so fucking happy when Sammie and Caroline finally met in the middle near the end there. I tend to agree with Caroline that the psychiatric industry is pure evil born from the best intentions. All Doctors Are Bastards! But I did respect Sammie's diplomacy in acknowledging that none of you should make such sweeping generalizations. This is the antithesis to the Joe Rogan Podcast
18:03 i’ve thought about naming my kid river or rivers after the lead singer of weezer and playing weezer around him when they’re really young so he becomes conditioned into liking weezer, since it’ll give nostalgic feelings to them, i want a weezer kid, this kid will love weezer and they don’t have a choice
35:34 I agree! my parents were super normal about answering questions, I’d be like: what is pregnancy? (When seeing a pregnant woman) And they’d explain reproduction, easy as that Also I had like cool kids books about puberty (e.g the book “hair in funny places”) And I think it had a splash effect because I ended up being really curious about sex Ed and I taught my friends about stuff like condoms and STI’s and periods and I think it has a positive effect on the world to talk plainly with your kids about how the body works And when it comes to drugs and alcohol I think something that is good for kids and teens to know that if something happens they can ALWAYS come home and be taken care of, bad things can happen to those who can’t go home because they think they’re parents will be mad. I didn’t drink or do anything until I was 18 (legal age here in Sweden) because my parents drank and were like: it’s better to wait until you’re ready and it’s harmful to your brain development But I had friends who got into sticky situations as teens but ended up fine because they could go home and be safe
As someone who's been smoking weed like religiously for the past 3 years (I'm 20) it sucks how hard I got sucked into the idea of weed not being bad for you and it's not even a drug. I legit to a point can't eat or don't feel like doing anything unless I've smoked first. And the worst part is I can't even get high no more. It's the only drug from my knowledge that us purely a mental addiction. Use it at whatever age but in moderation and enough space to not let your tolerance go up.
I started smoking weed at 13 and was almost very addicted to it. People seriously overlook the bad side of it and it should be talked about more. Now I consume it responsibly and not too often. I hope you can get through that it can be tough. Consume responsibly ppl!
i dont agree with everything but i love how much i think watching you guys. favorite content creators right now. also i knew a biracial jalen that was a basketball player with a white mom this too real
I’ll just say this (concerning the bizarre porn searches segment of the podcast) when you are a young teenage boy and you have full access to the internet you are going to look up some weird shit and 1) You find out you don’t actually want to see that stuff or 2) You grow out of it. The issue comes when someone’s life starts to reflect degeneracy unapologetically. And you will begin to see that in small ways with the things they say. But the issue is that there is no way to prevent them if they really want to do something and that is sad, but as long as what they are watching isn’t ILLEGAL then all you can do is let them no the dangers of watching that shit on a psychological level.
i think why people think weed is totally safe is because we let children of any age buy caffeine which stunts your development and gets you physically addicted and dependent, so when ppl hear that weed does that, it doesn't rlly matter to them, they already have probably at least one addiction so it doesn't rlly seem that bad even if it is.
I must inform you all, that I never have had a problem using condoms. I always welcomed the opportunity as an indicator that I was going to be having sex. Condoms = sex. No problem.
My issue with the whole drug talk is that caffeine and sugar exist. If weed is a gateway drug to addiction, then surely caffeine and sugar are significantly worse to children in this regard? In my personal experience, I started consuming weed during covid at around 24/25 years old, if I have no weed I can go for weeks/months and the only thing I feel is boredom and i'll miss weed because i'm bored. I'll be doing something just thinking "this would be so much more fun if I were high", if I run out of Cola or anything along those lines I will get daily headaches to the point I will want to throw up. The only time I found my consumption of weed to be problematic was when I discovered vapes/carts (BAD IDEA, DONT BUY THEM PLEASE, THEY ARE FAKE IF YOU LIVE IN A COUNTRY WHERE IT'S ILLEGAL). It's a tough issue and I fight for the legalization of weed in my country not because I think "oh weed is great, there's nothing bad about them" but because unregulated drugs are dangerous. Weed vapes are common amongst teens here in the UK and anyone who has done any amount of research on these vapes can tell you they are bad news. They will ruin your life because a "legit" weed vape is basically impossible to get your hands on unless you are making them yourself or you know someone who does and you literally see them make it using heat extraction and not chemical extraction. The ONLY way this issue is solved is through legalization because we all know how starting a "war" on drugs goes, the issue gets worse.
Caroline said you can have sex during pregnancy as if that’s not common knowledge, and despite the fact that that wasn’t even the question. Why do know it alls rarely know enough

While I accept that some adults may read Ayn Rand for recreational purposes, I would be deeply concerned to discover that my child was reading "Atlas Shrugged" or "The Fountainhead." It's important for kids to understand the dangers of Objectivism, and to recognize the warning signs of self-justifying sophistry.
