CNJ 113 Bouncing & Steaming on Old Anthracite Rails

- CNJ 113 under steam once again pulling Santa's Train on the old rails between Schuylkill Haven and Minersville, Pennsylvania, bouncing around as the 0-6-0 switcher is pressed into passenger duties in December 2021, where in its former life helped served this rich anthracite coal region.
In fact, the Minersville Branch still serves an integral part of Reading & Northern Railroad's anthracite coal traffic from the New St. Nicholas breaker above town, on former Reading Railroad rails, not too far from CNJ, PRR, and LV remnants. Speaking of Saint Nicholas, he is seen riding the train as well! More information about this locomotive below:
Built as a switching locomotive by Schenectady Works in 1923, the anthracite burner is right at home in the Skook region of Pennsylvania with a history of hauling rich anthracite mined from the region. As an 0-6-0 switcher, or CNJ class "6S46" for '6' Wheel 'S'witcher '46',000 lb Tractive Effort, the duties were limited around yards or shops to build and break up trains; therefore, these locomotives did not require the front or rear guide trucks for the slower speed operations.

Thanks to the Project 113 volunteers and to the Reading & Northern railroad for hosting these trips on their rails.

CNJ 592 really should be restored to operation. That is, if it's even legal for a camelback locomotive to operate anymore. I would say we should try to build a camelback 4-6-0, but it's has been illegal since the 1930's. That being said however, we need more CNJ steam.
WOW, the good ol' dayz. That whistle sounds like MONEY. If you can hear it then there's Money over there. I was first to like it!.
I Love Every American Steam Trains the Most
She is the pride of the coal region
She's certainly a bit lively on that rail! I wonder how often the stoker missed the fire hole?
Best video of 113 from this year so far for sure! Well done!
Heaven Yes, That UA-cam Video Was Certified Fresh Vanilla Cakes For Very Very Excellent
Go, Steam Train, Go
113 should doublehead with 2102
Great footage! Man, I don't know why anyone would pick a switcher to restore for so much running; it looks like it's gonna hop right off the rails! Gonna wear out its running gear and the track too.
An absolutely beautiful video! And not just of 113 and her train, but the locomotive and the train in the context of their surroundings. Wonderfully moody and atmospheric, like a time machine!
Great job - I especially loved the scene at
Bob and Weave, Bob and Weave.
