Here's how much I spend in a typical week in Dubai, UAE as an Entrepreneur and UA-camr.
*When people hear I live in Dubai, their first reaction is always something like “omg, but isn’t Dubai so expensive, how can you afford it??”*
But what might surprise you is that that isn’t actually true…kind of.
To show you that, I have broken down every single expense I have spent money on in a very typical week here in Dubai to give you a very realistic idea of what it actually costs to live a very comfortable, but by no means a super luxurious lifestyle here in Dubai, UAE.
And I’m pretty sure you will be surprised by the results.

Rent prices to me is hard to found out. Where do you found your apartment btw? I know a guy that changed a lot of apts from airbnb because they all was malfunctioning in one or other way, which kinda influenced on his overall impression about Dubai.
On the other side - if you rent yearly, you need *a lot* of cash upfront. And there's a decent(close to 100%) chance that you will not live in Dubai full year, because it's just too hot(non-walkable even in September when I visited). So it's not cheaper in the end.
Could you also cover topic about where to go for a summer from there? And how to properly do that(e.g. when I return with family, is it hard to find monthly apartment or it would be simpler and more proper to rent yearly despite I wouldn't live there for a full year)

What do you think about using serviced apartments or aparthotels in Dubai or Sharjah? Especially during the transition period of 3-4 months when you are settling into UAE and finding things out.

The cheap groceries has to do with just how much fresh water there is in Dubai. It has more fresh water sources than Italy but a little less than Netherlands. Dubai is greener and more agriculturally developed than the media lets on. If one works in tech or finance or has a large enough monetizable audience, Dubai is great for what it offers. Thanks for the video. Unfortunately, as a writer that averages $1700 to $2000 usd a month, this is out of my range, but the prices are fair given the tax savings.
I'm sorry Jim, care to elaborate on the abundancy of fresh water in Dubai? My understanding is that they heavily rely on desalinization plants, do you have any info you can share? I'm very curious.

what would you say is the minimum & ideal salary someone should be earning to live comfortably in Dubai and also save money (i.e similar to your lifestyle) ?
Perhaps $4-5k a month (2k a month rent, 1-2k other stuff, 1k savings)
Decent lifestyle 10k pm. A good lifestyle 25k pm. Sky is the limit.

Bro, you earn 100k USD+. How many percentage of the world earns that? When we say expensive, please think outside your narrow-{minded/sized} bracket. I spent almost a decade there, and I can tell you even those with cars, a above average accommodation, and able to eat well but not the best food - all complain that it is ludicrously expensive.
Fair - Always depends on what you compare it to - it's not more expensive than any comparable top tier city
It's not expensive if you compare it to other high COL-cities/countries such as Switzerland, Singapore, Paris, London, NY, LA, etc. The Income to COL-ratio is actually one of the best in the world if you have sought-after skills

Looking at that cost of living, I have to agree that Thailand, Malaysia and Bali seem like better value for money.
Dubai seems suitable for those with a successful remote-first business or those who have enough money saved up to live off of capital gains.
For those earning a salary or those just starting out with a company, Dubai just won't be worth it.
Bros transport costs is the same as living somewhere in south east asia for 1 month thats for 4 people you lost touch with reality 😂
My biggest problem with your video - no prices in local currency. It is AED and not USD in Dubai.
I know but 98% of people watching this are international, hence more familiar with USD.
