Dear Starbury, hope you get a chance to read this. I’m Puerto Rican who grew up in Coney Island. You were my fav player growing up. I modeled my game after you and would go to Kaiser park almost every day and practice my game trying to be like you. You gave back to the hood and you were like our Robin Hood. Many of us loved that someone from our hood was able to go big. I was so emotionally invested when you was a NY knick. CI native playing for the knicks. As you said, God has a plan and its beyond our wisdom but sometimes looking back we understand. Thank you for the memories and instilling positive goals in my life. Instead of being in the streets and being another statistic, I was too busy playing ball trying to be like you. Thank you. I wish you well 🤲🏽
Salute
respect

Thank you for inviting this guest. All these other pods could've invited him ages ago but we ain't seen him nowhere .... until now. Son of the NY... HALL OF FAMER !!! If I had to pick between him and D. Rose, I'm taking them both !!!
I’m sure every podcast has invited him, this is the one he felt comfortable enough to come on because of his relationship with Carmelo
“If I had to pick between him and D rose”. That statement means either or. Not both. You numb nut
He’s on IG I keep up with Marbury daily
@@najeethompson5064 You are correct
Forgotten Seasons had him on but it was wack. A question he wanted to avoid was asked and it just got awkward. You can tell Marbury didn't want to be there.
Feel like Starbury was blackballed by NBA. But maybe his destiny was to bring cultures together. How he has embraced other cultures shows he can be a bridge. He can show kids here that people around the world are not much different then they are. Much respect to Steph
It's not a feel like situation, he was blackballed
I love Marbury but I don't think so. Just think of when he was with the Celtics. He was kinda done at the NBA level.
Nah he wasn't blackballed. He was finished as an NBA level player. Melo was the one who was blackballed.
@@stevenstubbs9821kevin mchale tried to bring him back but he turned it down. Steph said himself he got better when he left the NBA. You can have plenty of talent but not learn how to win games or championships. He learned how to win in China on and off the court
Plz stop. I LOVE Steph, we went to high school the same time in BK. But this idea that everyone who F--ked up in sports or Hollywood was 'blackballed' is ludicrous!! 99% of the time, it's people who messed up their own legacy & dont wanna admit it, so its ALWAYS SOMEONE ELSE'S FAULT
Yo man I know Melo and Mero probably don't read the comments like that, but I am loving the vibe on this show and catching some game from the both of them. Giving me inspiration to identify my purpose and own it
Salute
you: they don't read comments
melo and mero: nah we do lmao
😂
Marbury and Melo deserve all the credit for entertaining Knicks fans through dark times. Definitely all a part of the fabric.
melo did nothing for the knicks except ruin them for a decade
@@swipernoswiping3053 yes it's all his fault they signed a washed Amare and his PG was Raymond Felton 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
Marbury deserves credit not Melo - he was a horrible teammate
@@chiefnochillsteph4146 you played for the knicks?
I own a house in China and can confirm everything he said about China. Marbury deserves to be in the Hall of Fame for the TOTALITY of his contribution to the game.
Wow NY needed this starbury & melo best interview ever 🔥🔥🔥
Naw didn't NEED IT...just thanks for Melo to BRING IT BACK about game to be a DOG....MARBURY was ridiculed for being a scoring point...before Arenas .hmmm..and NOW LOOK at the league...hmm
Starbury, my favorite point guard. It's weird that he gets more love and praise out in China vs his own home country. He's a living legend!!
His career in china was damn near legendary that’s y lol
He gets love in his country but only in his hometown we waiting for everyone to catch up
@@stevesmalls5494 he's got fans all over
He gets love out here in Phoenix. I was hella pissed the Suns traded him to New York.
This podcast was almost 2 hours long and it was the most enjoyable podcast I’ve heard in a long time. I love all these episodes and have always rocked with Mero and as a native New Yorker and a lifelong Knick fan, I love Melo. Marbury dropped so many gems on this episode. Best podcast in the game. Bar none. Thank you for doing this.
Marbury is literally the New York point god. Super underrated and very under appreciated. I was waiting on this interview and I hope that the NBA will put him in the hall of fame in the future
The Knicks line of legends aging like fine wine at this point. Once a Knick…
Totally agree..but because they struggled....no rings but gave it their ALL...love ya point..
Growing up in NY, Stephon Marbury & Sebastain Telfair were our goats. Till this day Marbury is my favorite player for what he did on and off the court. Starburys really helped alot of kids in towns growing up, don't think people understand how influential Stephon Marbury is !
Fr I know,im from Atlanta and remember buying his stuff at a reasonable price when I was in middle to high school and feeling fly lol, I feel like he’s super underaged outside of mainstream and NY
I grew up with Stephon Marbury in Coney Island
@@delbertprince5302me too
The Starbury shoe concept was DEFINITELY well said.💯👟
Low quality tho. You get what you pay for lol
@@colinnixon7739 i meant as far as the kids, where he grew up in particular, that can afford the price of an athletic shoe. I commend steph for attempting to be an entrepreneur in that light.
Hmmm, my last comment was deleted i see.🤔
@@colinnixon7739nah....them joints were real decent. Grabbed a few pair for my relatives & they still rock em & love em til this day.
Stephon Marbury is the real legend from Coney Island
Would love to see Steph attend a Timberwolves playoffs game and get the same type of welcoming ovation too.
Same
Probably will....in the summer time though.
You know the spirit of God is on you when people try to watch their language around you. God bless you Marbury!
Peeped that, too.

KINGMELO & STARBURY!!! 🔥🔥🔥☝🏽☝🏽☝🏽NY ISH!!!
This brother is so knowledgeable… shoutout to Starbury!! Gotta get the Gawd to the HOF
We gotta get a part 2, I wanna hear about his time with PHX, NJ, NYK. Also need to hear about his time in China, learning the language and culture. So much missed 🙏🏾
The power of the mind is not a joke
Time flies man dont rush it !!!!
Haven’t seen this guy do a podcast ever or even have a sit down convo for this long either. I’m glad Melo got him on and curious to hear this one.
What an extraordinary life! I was lucky enough to meet Steph in the early 00s as a 20 y/o working in his apt building at the time in Jersey... I always despised how he was portrayed in the media. He treated me like an old friend those days, ill never forget. I was just a part time security guard. So proud of him... great interview fellas, nobody else couldve delivered like this, keep evolving! Lets f*n go Knicks, baby!!!
“I come from 3 brothers who could not crack the code, but they said “WE GOT SOMEBODY THAT CAN”. 🤯🤯🤯 that touch my heart big time!!!
Jesus Shuttleshworth everybody. Welcome home. Well deserved. Big up Steph.
😂
This interview needs to go VIRAL
36 minutes in and this is some of the most wholesome convos I’ve heard on a podcast ever … mad respect
Absolutely love Marbury's growth. ❤️ awe-inspiring.
Knicks messed up with not putting good players around Steph and Melo, the fans understand who these Legends of the game are and what happened. We salute you all
I went to school with Steph. S/o to Butchie, Zach, 530, the whole Lincoln squad. RIP Juice and My bad if I didn't shout you out, It's been over 25 years. 92-96 was lit
I was born and raised in Coney Island. Clyde Ellis lived in my building.
Stephon Marbury is a Coney Island legend.
Stephon Marbury is a New York City basketball legend
Stephon is a class act!!!! Once, Marbury was playing the 76ers when Tim Thomas was on the team. Stephon left his team and signed over 30 kids autographs. I still have the tickets he autograph. He had gum and shared it with the people and gave us over $500 to get some Burger King. Thanks Mr. Marbury!!!! Today NBA players are Pre Madonna’s. I missed the old school players 😊
Legendary. Salute. Peace.
As a New Yorker, born and raised, this was my favorite episode.
Born and raised in Coney Island
I’m Melo age..and Melo been my guy since the Orangemen..Steph will always be our big brother, NY’s own, Bk’s own, CI’s finest.
I don’t even tap into many athletes podcasts but I wanted to hear what brother Steph had to say. Steph, I’m proud of your growth brother. Spoke like a grown man. I could relate at my age now.
A firm handshake and salute to you 💯
RIP Dave Edwards... I went to junior high with him... A Queens Legend
When you consider / combine both his career achievements in the NBA & CBA, Marbury should be in the HOF
No fucking question!! 22&12
I saw starbury at the mall on 34th st when his sneakers first drop and to know that his sneakers out sold jordans is priceless. Im glad he back in NYC and the everybody is showing him love. Great interview. ❤🎉
Brooklyn's Finest.....played him WAYYY back in the IS 8 tournament. in 1993.......Super kool dude ....🏀🏆⛹⛹

Starbury deserves way more praise from nba fans and the nba
ERIC AND DON MADE STEPHON'S TEMPERMENT WHAT IT WAS IN THE NBA
And Norman ju ju
I witnessed Starbury giving the bizness to AI and Kobe on several occasions, from Minnesota to New Jersey he was a PROBLEM. Salute

Melo Thank you bro for getting Marbury . REAL NY basketball legend that the people need to hear from 100% . We need Lance Stephenson next LOL for the culture BROOOKLYNNNNNN!!!!!!
Basketball made Steph’s
name , starburys made him a legend for what he did for our community…. And full disclosure I had 3 pairs myself and felt just for a brief moment “happiness” to walk out the store with hella bags thank you for access to that moment steph and I shall do that a greater lord willing !
Rest In Peace Eric Marbury. The pioneer of Coney Island Basketball
Im from Crown Heights. I played ball growing up rocking the starburys and the melos, and watching you guys play and seeing yall together like this was special. Thank you for this.
*ALL THIS NEW YORK GREATNESS!!!* COLORS ORANGE + BLUE FOR ME, FOR YOU!!!! Internet streets needed this bruh!!! Shoutout BK!!! Starybury, ME7O, Mero and all of NYC YOU HEARD?!???!!!!
Him and Ivo changed my basketball life
This was a truly legendary podcast!! Two Brooklyn Kings reppin' Red Hook and Coney Island!! Steph and Melo, you guys are two of my favorite Knicks!! As a long time Knicks fan I would often have to defend both of you guys from the haters. I'm so proud of all accomplishments that you both achieved! Welcome home Steph you're a Hall of famer!!! Shout out to Mero for a great job hosting!! Peace and love to you brothas.
Yo. I never seen a Steph Marbury interview. To see how smart he is. The shit he talking about and actually making a difference. The dying over kicks was Def a real thing when he was growing up. Im proud of dude for that. Tbh I never rocked them but I do know people who did. They were happy with them.
Starbury is a NY legend who was as good as anyone for a time. Things ended badly but to his credit, he became a legend in Chinese basketball. I think Jamal Crawford recently said Marbury should be in the Hall of Fame for his NBA career as well as his global impact in China. I agree.
I'm so impressed by this interview. I first saw Stephon during his H.S. Championship game at the Garden. I never forgot him after that. I first heard about his brothers almost making it to the NBA, back then. I was rooting for him to make it! I still have some of my Starbury merch. Steph, I pray Starbury's will come back! Much respect! God bless you, bro.
Stephen Marburry is a Starbury!! This guy could straight out hoop! He represented NYC like a Don! 👍🏽🙏🏽
Love to see Steph getting his flowers! He definitely doesn’t get the credit he deserves 💯💯💯
Let’s not forget he’s also a New Jersey Nets alum. Jersey represent!! #33
This was one of the best episodes ever giving flowers to a legend, and hearing his growth and understanding and the truth is a wonderful thing as men thank you
Real talk Starbury, no one talks about being motivated to get out of the projects because of rats and roaches. 🖤🖤🖤
You can tell marbury has a good heart. Knicks and Beijing Ducks legend🔥

Melo is the King of NY and Marbury is a NY Legend. Brooklyn has all the hoopers 🔥💯
i thought melo was from Baltimore?
Harlem/Bronx/Queens has made just as many ballplayers. And Melo wasn't even raised in New York.. Cut the 🧢
@@lallen8462 I am from Queens and yes we have ballers throughout the boroughs but when you have MJ, Marbury, Melo all born in Brooklyn have to give it to them. Regardless where they grew up they are all born New Yorkers. We need more NYC hoopers!!! LA has been dominating the last 15 years so this is great podcast to see and hear last and future hoopers.
@@user-ni1vt8nm4q Fam it doesn't work like that lol. Jordan's parents just happened to be in NYC that day he was born, neither one of his parents were raised in NYC. If u never rode between subway cars, played on an open fire hydrant, rode pissy elevators, or stole Jansport strings then u ain't from NYC. Melo nor Jordan ever lived that NYC life. My man Steph. Growing up with you in CI, playing beside you and also playing against you in the biggest rivalry in Brooklyn (Grady/Lincoln) its good to see you back in the Garden and getting the respect you deserve. Much love always. You was always Starbury to us in CI.

Melo and Mero, I love this podcast and this was a great interview. Stephon is most definitely one of the greats.
Incredible I know this interview touched me true blessing to hear the guys we admired talk so high because they meant so much to us growing up
This was a good episode. It was really cool to hear from Stephon Marbury and see him in such a good space.

Nothing but love for Steph. I'm a few years younger than Steph. Growing up, he was it!!!
Wow! Iconic. Time was suspended when I watched this episode. Melo and Starbury. I feel like I just experienced history. 7PM In Brooklyn is groundbreaking. Appreciate what we’re witnessing people.
I knew Marbury since I was a kid my dad was best friends his agent back in the day. He went through a lot of shit and he ghosted a lot of people when he left the nets and went to the suns. Glad to see him back on track and looking healthy because we were all concerned for him. He has a hell of a story to tell hope he gets on more podcasts.
Marbury - my second favourite player of all time behind only Allen Iverson. Marbury inspired me so much - Both as a kid on the court, and as an adult with the way he overcame adversity. One person I wish to meet and thank in my lifetime.
These 2 are literally my 2 favorite basketball players of all time.... I'm siked up for this interview
