The fact that you stated, "you probably don't know what you're doing, you just copied a bunch of code from somewhere and it does what you want it to do," described exactly why I was fishing for a good python book in the first place. This even contains all of the beginner material from my programing class (in the book), Thanks for the book review and how easy and straight to the point you got.
I am in the middle of it. Very interesting book. Recommend to anyone interested in automating process. Te book is good for beginners. I am learning python from this book.
I would like to thank you for your recommendations. I am currently going through this book and Think Python because of your videos and they are great free resources to learn Python.
lol! You're right. I do only review books that I like. I tend not to waste my time with the bad ones. Currently working through all the books that have been helpful to me. Once I've exhausted those, maybe you'll see a change!
i recommend going to this book first if you did learn functions for loops and all of that and being a refresh remenber of basics then i recommend going to python distilled to go further
I almost bought this book today. Instead I picked up: Mission Python: Code A Space Adventure Game by Sean McManus & Python Flash Cards (Eric Matthes ; no starch press). Also have Learn Python the Hard Way 3rd Edition. Guess I'll be going back to the book store to get this one.
IIRC, Al's web scraping was a great read! I also used PYTHON FOR KIDS by Jason R. Briggs. Not embarrassed to say I was in my mid-twenties. Ashamed to say I did once offend someone who was new to Python and requested help.
Great review, I'll start reading the online version of this book, I've already completed a python course at codecademy, but I think that reading this book will be very useful.
Kinda late to the party, but what should I get: this or the crash course. I know something more than basics about some programming languages as I took them in high school, and would like to get into python. Which one should I get?
Python Crash Course might be a better choice for that. However, this book is good and it's free. It will teach you the basics which you should learn quickly and then move onto the maths you will need for data science and how to implement it in python.
@@gilesmcmullen can you please provide me the pdf of automating boring stuff using python as I can't afford it as of now. which makes me to step ahead into python. very much interested. please do the favour for the enthusiast.
They're both very good. Automate is better for use as a reference. You can dip into it, whereas Crash Course is more incremental. Automate covers more material.
I've just started with Python and would like to buy one of these books, which one you would recommend for beginners? Your answer would be much appreciated ! :)
+sarath prakash Really depends on your long-term goal for python. But my two favourites for beginners are Automate the Boring Stuff and Python Crash Course. If I had to choose between those, then for me it would be Automate the Boring Stuff, just by a whisker.
Hi. Im new to Python and have received Python Crash Course from a colleague of my dad. Im quite interested in machine learning and i know you have said in some previous comments that you think automate the boring stuff is better. Do you recommend I buy that book instead or I just start with crash course. Thanks!
They are both excellent books - stick with Python Crash Course and learn as much as you can from it. There's a good section on data visualisation which will be useful for you.
I don't know which one should buy Python Crash Course, 2nd Edition: A Hands-On, Project-Based Introduction to Programming || Automate the Boring Stuff with Python: Practical Programming for Total Beginners ?
Can you please make a video telling us what to do next after finishing 'Automate the boring stuff with Python' Book, especially i wanna be working in the AI and ML field, so any advice ??
Hey guys I'm a beginner here so I'm sorry for the noob question. The book says to download Mu. I already have Anaconda Navigator & PyCharm. Could I use either of these programs to follow the book instead of downloading Mu?
This book is for complete beginners. If you have no to little experience in python, then this book is surely for you. Make sure you do the projects to get the most out of the book. Trust me, this book is a lot better than most online courses coz it uses real life examples to teach you coding and the little pieces of advice the author gives are very very helpful. I envy you(lolxx) for having a hardcover of this book as I'm currently reading the pdf of this book and all I wish to have this book in my hands but its quite expensive in India..anyways this book is all you need to begin your programming journey...Happy learning
@@Rohit-xc3tl if you have completed this book then I would recommend this: 1) I presume that you are comfortable writing basic python. Start reading book "python crash course" offered by same publication and do all the projects. Doing this will expose you to all the domains where python is used i.e machine learning, web development, game Dev etc, . You will discover how powerful and versatile python is. Make sure you do the projects. 2)take harvard's cs50 course offered by edx. I highly recommend you taking this course. This course will strengthen your basics and problem solving skills and will test you to the limits. I won't go much into the details about this but would encourage you to do enroll in it and see for yourself. Hope this helps. Happy learning 👍
