There are MANY books on python out there (some good, some great, some absolutely crap) but if you have worked on microsoft excel before and want to learn python (specifically for data analysis) this is the book i personally used and would highly recommend...
There is a very small chapter on time series analysis in pandas that uses stock time series, but it's not a finance book, so most likely not what you are looking for.
Yes, xlwings is made for Excel. On Windows, you should be able to use UDFs with other apps like Word, but it's really more of a POC, see: docs.xlwings.org/en/stable/other_office_apps.html and github.com/xlwings/xlwings/issues/1621

Great book!. I just finished reading it and is very helpful for my project. Thank you very much.
Thanks so much for your feedback, Robert! Glad you liked it.
So i need to pay xlwings in order to be able to use your book?
no, it only makes use of the open source version of xlwings, which is free.
Any content on gauges such as to track or measure a stock on buy sells etc?

Is it worthwhile to buy the book or shall I rather wait in case a second edition drops?
is xlwings only for Excel... can it be used in Word since it replaces VBA???
