You beat me to it! Now that my testing theater is finally finished, the AVX17 will be my first review to break it in! :) Thanks for your review! We're basically on the same page! It sounds fantastic!
@@TwoGuyzTech Quick request: Could I use the snippet in this video also in my review where you removed the top and showed the innards? Just the footage, not the audio...
Very informative review! I am quite certain you're right, this is a rebranded Tonewinner AT300. The remote and menu look identical, and the back panel is very similar. I am just happy there are more choices for budget processors now.
@@TwoGuyzTech I honestly hope there are more brands out there that follow suit, and offer a budget variation processor. Thanks for checking out the Tonewinner amp video...cheers!
They do look similar except that the tonewinner only has 14 XLR outputs vs. 17 XLR outputs for the IOTA. Also the Tonewinner does not have the PC Audio USB input which I would find very useful in my system when playing 2 channel audio files. What other budget AV processors have you been looking at?
picked up another denon 3800h today and I seemed to have did what I wanted in auro3D, which is 5.1.6 to 7.1.8. But who knows I have no idea what I'm doing. Just plugged the output of one to the input of the 2nd, messed around in video option to turn monitor 1/2 to activate and I got sound, I already had picture. Then I go to to the speakers plug them in and it works, also the info button shows the channels active as intended. But again I'm prob looking at something wrong. The remote works for both. I can get a 16th channel using the vog of the 2nd avr and 8 subs.
First time seen video from you. Very nice and honest work. Have heard the brand. 17 channels are WAY too many for such a low price. At this price point they souldn't put more than 11. The issues you experienced sould be adressed, but I don't mind menu is old school, becouse of the low price. None the less, I'm interested too in this thing. It aims only hometheater enthousiasts and not hard core gamers, unless you don't mind "only" 60 frames per second.
Thank you very much for watching! Glad to hear it was helpful. And since the IOTA's price is now down to $1,699 it is even more of an impressive unit even with some of its flaws. I appreciate the comment!
Nice review. I’m currently in the market for a pre/pro. Considering the Marantz AV7706. Would like to consider the IOTAVX, but the website says it’s not currently available. Like others, I would like to see some comparisons even though they are subjective in the end, there is still a lot of useful info.
How does this work connected to a PC? Doe the PC see it as a 17 channel audio interface? Can you play Dolby Atmos music and movies through the PC? Does it have ASIO drivers if one want to use it as a professional mixing and mastering USB audio interface?
Hi there, I have few questions: 1: How does the IOTA compare to Anthem, Arcam and Nad AVR’s for sound quality 2: Did you test it for music with and without the bluetooth adaptor. 3: Regarding sound quality: anything that could of been better. Many thanks.
Thanks for watching! 1, We haven't reviewed any of the brands you mentioned unfortunately 2, We did go ahead and test the Bluetooth adapter off camera with music and we thought it sounded fine 3, If anything could have been better, we would have mentioned it! Hope this helps!
I find your channel v informative. Can you pls compare the pro and cons of a pre-pro combo Vs a AV receiver + 3ch amp for the LCR combo? I'm looking at a 5.2.4 setup
How often did your Nvidia crash. Really thinking about getting into seperates with this model but Nvidia is my go to streamer. Also how often did the handshake issue occur. Thanks for the review.
I believe they use hardware that's actually a Chinese OEM rebrand preamp processor but with their own modified version of the stock firmware. I'm not sure how the room correction actually is relative to other room correction software.
@@billybobby7607 yeah these companies don't have the financial backing to licence a real room EQ software yet, and their DAC implementations could be somewhat questionable as well.
@@billybobby7607 Is it still really buggy? I'm considering buying one but I'm afraid to waste my money. I don't need bells and whistles. Room EQ would be nice though.
Major upgrade in sound quality over my Denon X3400H. Never knew my old M&K 750s and V1250 sub could sound so good. Unfortunately, the sub line outs didn't work until I updated the firmware, then sub line out 3/4 didn't work. The unit wouldn't save any settings after the upgrade. I couldn't watch a movie on the projector unless the TV was turned on connected to the ARC output. Will be returning this asap.
Oh you once had an X3400H! That's the same receive I have right now. Maybe one day I'll get me a Tone Winner AT-300 as I only have a single Klipsch RP-1000SW subwoofer. I don't have enough room for a second subwoofer but I'll go dual subs in the future.
@@graysonpeddie I would go with something like a Marantz, Denon or Arcam. The software on the IOATAVX is very generic and buggy. Couldn't get it to work right and ended up returning it. I now have a Marantz AV7706.
Love your approach, concise but detail driven. Please be aware your LED lamp is constantly throwing the white balance or if not the luminosity of the whole picture. It's just distracting is all.
Thanks for watching! Unfortunately we haven't heard the Tonewinner AT-300, but as we mentioned in the video, we feel there's strong evidence to conclude that this unit was manufactured by Tonewinner, and the two do share similarities on the inside, but from an engineering standpoint, we don't know how they compare in terms of performance. Hope this helps!
Thanks for watching! We usually run everything through the processor as we have lots of different sources in our theater, and projectors like the Epson LS12000 only have two HDMI ports so it's not enough to make HDMI ARC worth it in our setup.
@TwoGuyzTech, finally, an IOTAVX AVX-17 review. Thank you! What are your thoughts on adding the miniDSP DDRC-88A/BM to get Dirac Live and the bass management features for multiple subs?
Thanks for watching! We're glad the vid was helpful. The DDRC-88 seems like an interesting option to get Dirac Live, unfortunately we don't have any experience with the unit, but if you're okay with the 8 channel limit, it might make a really good addition to the AVX17. Hope this helps!

Think i'm gonna get one of these to use with my power amps. I got like 8000 watts of JBL Pro audio that id love to use in a cinema form.
Great review! That last comments about spending several thousands on separates, you meant just that amount on the processor alone😂 it’s crazy!

Great to see four subwoofer outputs and PEQ. That's something you definitely don't see in this price category.
Thanks for watching! Yeah we absolutely agree, the bass management is something that sets this processor apart in our opinion.

It's the same inside. It's a good unit but quite basic. Crap auto room EQ but if you have rew and umik then do manual EQ adjustment.
I read that the tone winner is also the same as the emotiva MC-1. The Mc-1 is smaller which is what I’m wanting.
