I spent 4 years at Langley AFB with the 1st TFW/27th TFS as a Crew Chief on tail number 4125. Loved every day I spent on the flight line with this jet.
I love the shape of an F-15. My favorite fighter jet of all. When I was in my early twenties, a couple of F-15 Eagles flew by over a "right-of-way" just a few yards from our house. They were flying so low that I could clearly see the pilots. One of the guys waved to me and I waved back. What a thrill, watching them fly by at near eye level. An experience that I will always treasure, as a "plane enthusiast."

As a 19 year-old in the summer of 1973 I was very fortunate to have gotten a summer job at the massive McDonnell Aircraft plant at the St Louis MO airport. My assignment had to do with the very first blocks of the then brand-new F-15. It was a real privilege to have had something to do with the initial production of this fantastic plane. It's hard to believe that I have completed my career and yet the F-15 is still in general use.
Thank you for posting. I worked on these F-15Cs when I was stationed with the 33rd FW, 59th TFS in the early 90's at Eglin AFB, Florida. The 59th was being deactivated and these F-15C's were transfered to RAF Lakenheath around '93-94. Great aircraft! I wish the USAF would get more!
Doug Burt I was reading about Air Force proposing to retire all F-15C-Ds to enable them to prop up the F-35 program with top brass saying F-16s 22s and 35s could handle the air superiority mission. I'm hoping the new defense budget quashes that insane idea. But the Eagle though great could use some updating.
Doug Burt - I was with the 59th Weapons when the squadron closed in '97. Ironically, I was at Lakenheath, '92 - '95, when the 493FS (C-models) stood up. I help do a little grunt work in the old Victor Alert area to help bring these jets in. A lot of us volunteered to help with the hopes of moving from the E-models to the C's.
I grew up in Klamath Falls, Oregon, and for years enjoyed the daily departures and arrivals of F-15's with the 173rd Tactical Fighter Training Squadron stationed at Kingsley Field. Occasionally they'd leave under full combat power and the sounds, sights, smells, and the feelings in your guts can't be described. God, I love those airplanes!
It's hard to capture that sound on a camera. I was delivering lumber to a house at the end of a runway at Otis AFB in Massachusetts when 2 F-15's took off together a few hundred feet over my head. It was absolutely deafening. The earth was shaking, and after they left and quiet returned, i could hear these songbirds chirping, and i thought they could be thinking, "Do birds rule or what?"

This brought back memories of 1971 when I first visited the UK and stayed with relatives of my best friend just outside of Lakenheath. Had my first pints of Green King ale while there. The F-15s did not use their afterburners and were not heavily laden, hence, in all likelihood not carrying any weapons. It looked like the entire squadron was moving house with the troop/personnel transports and tankers. When these guys use their afterburners on take-off -- now that is something to see and hear. Amazing aircraft the F-15.
I've seen F-15s launch with afterburners, & F-4 Phantoms up close with very heavily loads at full afterburners. F-4 were slow and lumbering & used the whole runway to take off, they took longer I had more time to enjoy the spectical. Phantoms are extremely loud, I prefer the F-4 esthetics, just a beautiful plane.

In 1964 I was 13 years old, spending Summer vacation in Hampton, Va. My sister's husband was in the U.S. Air Force and stationed at Langley AFB. Every chance I had I would go to his work with him and hang out in my favorite environment, a building directly adjacent to and very close to the flight line He was in logistics, supporting aircraft maintenance. Langley was the HQ of the Tactical Air Command, and also had a sizeable detachment of the 48th Fighter Interceptor Squadron assigned, operating F-106A Delta Darts. One day while I was reading Aviation Week magazine and observing the busy goings-on around the operations center, a pair of Alert 106's were scrambled and tore down the runway side by side at full military afterburner. This was the most awesome Air Force Base experience I had seen/head/felt while visiting Langley as well as Dover AFB previously. As the Sixes roared past the hangar entire structure and everything within it shook wildly. Dust was shaken loose from the overhead. Lighting fixtures swayed to and fro. Books and small items fell off shelves. The noise was absolutely deafening. And I loved every second of it! I could enjoy that sort of spectacle as many times a day as the air Force felt itself fit to order into action. Well, at least several per day. A mere seven year years later I was an avionics tech assigned to U.S. Navy Attack Squadron 147, which was flying A-7E Corsairs. We alternated locations between NAS Lemoore, Ca., TAD's to NAAS Fallon Nv and NAS North Island, Ca. and of course at sea on the USS Constellation with three Westpac deployments during my hitch. I definitely got nearly my fill of very loud aircraft sounds in that line of work. BTW, did I mention that I love being involved with military aviation? Regards, Rich P.
Excellent camera work! Brought it all into full view. I was Pratt Whitney jet Mac back in 90s. Stationed at Luke AFB Az. Our Squadron of 20 F16s sometimes did 2 sorties per day. Other squadrons also had F15s. Same engine but 2 instead of 1. My time there in AZ was a never ending air show. Live it he smell of JP8!
Driving the Loop 303 freeway on the west side, and having a line of F16s on final approach to Luke flying over the freeway just a couple hundred feet up ... wicked machines.
Was stationed at Kadina AB On Okinawa Japan in 1986. Was in ATC Radar Repair and we had a GCA (nicknamed by the pilots Gonna Crash Anyway) Precision Approach Radar set that was at the midpoint of the runway and right next to it. Got a heads up from the tower on the radio that the entire alert squadron had just been scrambled and we were stuck out there until they were all in the air. Sixteen F-15's taking off two abreast (well nose to tail, can't get more abreast than that) full burners. And, as soon as the gear left the ground on one pair, the next two hit the burners. This was an emergency scramble (un-friendly aircraft on radar eighty miles out) so the burners stayed lit and they were at about a 75-80 degree climb. Hands over the ears... the ground shook until all sixteen was in the air and long gone. The best time in all my ten years in the Air Force, standing twenty feet from the runway!!! BTW... this is the first time I got to see the new props on the C-130. One hell of an upgrade for those old birds. Still remember for open house (locals could come on base and look around and at the aircraft) The AC-130' gunships left the week before and didn't come back until the week after. And, if any visitors came by and they were there and somebody questioned why they were painted all black... the answer was they had just been primed and were waiting for the rest of the camo paint :)
This is not immediate exhilaration as the Eagles don't fly right away, but I love the whole build up with the -130's and -135 appearing. Just day to day operations. Not everyone is a movie star. I love seeing all the parts and how each part makes the greater whole. This is a great video, but conveys nothing like what the guy filming experienced. I've seen pairs of Eagles launch 3 times in my life and I'll never forget them. I was close each time and the thrust made my chest throb. One hell of a bird designed back in 1970.
They cost more than the F-35 does though. The US is paying 1.2 billion for 8 new F-15X's. They are a quality jet and would fit into NORAD and NATO operations nicely.
I was in high school in the late 70's at Lakenheath and loved watching the 111's take off and land not far from the lunch room. Teachers would have to pause their lessons when those monsters flew over. I just stumbled onto your channel and it brings back memories. We were raised at The Kings Head in Mildenhall and was wondering if you can you still get Abbot Ale? Cheers!
F-15’s Used to fly over my house everyday years ago.. Now it’s the Raptors... my house is under the flight path. 2 miles from Langley AFB... Sure do miss these jets 😢
I was flying the F-100 Super Sabre out of Lakenheath in 1965. Landed a few times in Mildenhall because of cross winds at home. The runways are about 90 degrees different. We didn't make that much noise but we had more fun!!
I lived about 1 mile south of the east end of the Lamber field main runway (1950-1975). This is where McDonnel Aviation was. They would line up 8 jets and take off in pairs of 2 with a (very) slight pause after the first 4. They would break picture windows and crack foundations out of houses. The eventually moved an entire sub-division (named Doodles Dale) from the area.
I was at RAF Mildennhall ‘6/84 -6/86 and lived 9 miles from the base. In ‘85, I moved into a semi quiet to write a Comm Security Education Program since I walked down the flight line and I knew what the units were doing at an IG Inspection... the city I lived at was a quiet are, never hearing planes.. until Reagan bombed Libya-we heard the loaded tankers departing, one after the other... And there was only small talk when I stopped for coffee-no one knew until it happened.
was waiting for a flight at the airport in St. Louis, and i guess the air national guard flies out within the airport, or right next door, but there was a big glass window that overlooked a runway and i got to see 4 F-15s take off. Damn skippy - the sound was f'ing incredible.
He did not record a single one of them taking off! He got the first after it was in the air and wheels were up. By the time he swung back, the second was wheels up too. He did that for all four!
It is almost easier if they just taxi to Lakenheath on the public road. :) If you are standing at the other end of the LN runway, you are easily able to spotting all those planes of Mildenhall, which are climbe at the far end of the Mildenhall runway.
Still the best fighter around despite the absence of stealth technology. And don’t forget not one F15 has ever been shot down since it was introduced into service.
I'm always amazed by the thundering sound of these planes..even here in front of my PC (headphones). Can only imagine how it would be in real life. next year (2021) there will be an airshow here in Denmark, and i'm looking forward to see/hear one of these fighter planes. Would defiantly like to see the F-22 Raptor or the F-35 :-) Cheers from Denmark
Look up a f -15 viking departure. In St Louis they had to take off and be above 10,000 feet before crossing the airport boundary. No prob in a plane that can climb to 93000 in 3 minutes. That vid takes 33 sec. The gear has to be retracted before 300 knts, so they have to pull it up immediately after takeoff.
104-0. I had the privilege of maintaining Eagles and turned a wrench on everyone of those Aircraft in this video. You think F-15's are loud? No way. Wait until you hear an F-35. The sign at the gate of Eglin AFB used to say "Largest MiG Parts Distributor in Southwest Asia".
The sound was hardly great, but if you want a loud... awesome jet, have a couple Phantoms fly over you at Mach 1 and 100 feet off the ground! You'll understand what loud is! F-15s aren't close to that volume of noise!
Phantoms and A-5 Vigilantes would make me feel like all my teeth would come loose, when cranked up to full power and in close proximity (otherwise known as the Flight Deck) on a Carrier. Not heard so much as felt.
Agreed, Phantoms ate at least 1.5 times louder than F-15. When running the engines for maintenance testing tied down in the pens, at full power I could not stand exposed within 30meters, had to stand behind a wall or keep my distance.
The loudest noise that I have ever heard from airplanes was when I was stationed at Karen's at for waiting to arm any of our F-15 acft that might be getting ready to go but while waiting two SR71 acct came down and pulled up on the side by side runways if you have ever been to Karen's we were at the water end. Anyway these two Habu pulled up and I was about 200 feet away when they both lit the burners and the ground started shaking and I would imagine the noise was like being inside a thundercloud but it was getting towards evening and the released brakes and these beautiful machines took off with burners lit it was awesome I will never forget I worked around F-15s everyday and they were nothing compared to those two SRs
Out of LN, the 492nd & 494th Fighter Squadrons fly the F-15E. The 493rd FS flies the F-15C (single seat) and F-15D (dual seat). The F-35A was supposed to start flying out of there in 2020.
For the kind attention of Aviation Videos & Wildlife FULL HD. Thank you for your effort and I should say that nowadays all videos should be 1080p. In the sense of a poor quality, there is no reason. You´re right about that. Best regards.
Very slow. The 15s are puny compared to mig 25s and slower but are still the most formidable fighter out there. Yes they have taken Mig 25s down. Wish they would upgrade the f 15 engines to let them cruise with afterburner past mach 3.4 and mantain their maneuverability. Heat would be a problem though.
No idea if the tankers were following them up or not but I doubt it. It's only a short hop from Mildenhall to Lakenheath and they would not need to take on gas for that. The "slowness" is typical for a normal launch. They only burned a little over a coupe hundred pounds of fuel and i can assure you they have a lot more. If it were a scramble, it would be much much faster.
It was the king of the skies when it was first commissioned into service n still a Great fighter after so many years i do Not know of anyone who doesn't admire this plane they still look beautiful way better than the F22 F35
Thanks for the tip on moving from Auto settings to 1080. Does improve quality. Seeing these take off is awesome. It's impossible to capture the true drama in a video. Seeing in person is thrilling.
How about the noise from SR 71s that took off from RAF Mildenhall? The locals complained about the windows being shattered. Thereafter, the Blackbirds could only take off after 6 AM. I know because I was there.
Call me stupid I know, but why are Lakenheath jets taking off from Mildenhall? I thought they were all based down the road and the KC's, 130's and Ospreys all based here.
They may land there for various reasons. They can be diverted there if the homebase runway gets shut down, they can be doing runway ops checks, among other things.
mach 2.5 , it was the most loudest take off every time it takes off from Butterworth airbase in Penang even some of the roof top nearby house have flown away when this 2.5 Mach jet fighters take off in very low level with full afterburner , unfortunately this 2.5 Mach jet fighters never make any flights demo in Butterworth or Langkawi island, that's disappointing me , i want to enjoy its powerful engine sounds , the f15 eagle

As the Sixes roared past the hangar entire structure and everything within it shook
wildly.

It's absolutely the most awesome thing to see these do combat take offs in the desert at night with full afterburner.
Nothing beats the earth shattering noise of the Vulcan!!!
Oh yes, one can almost feel hammer striking anvil!
Used to enjoy going to the American air shows. Good times were had by all. Burgers, beers and awesome flying.
If such planes are piloted by the British pilots they look charming and very majestic.
Good video - love those F15's. "Go Panthers, Go"!!
No better noise on planet than couple f-15s fly by :)
Spent some time there in '66 with a C-130 squadron. Is Mickey's Tea Bar still there?
This is not immediate exhilaration as the Eagles don't fly right away, but I love the whole build up with the -130's and -135 appearing. Just day to day operations. Not everyone is a movie star. I love seeing all the parts and how each part makes the greater whole. This is a great video, but conveys nothing like what the guy filming experienced. I've seen pairs of Eagles launch 3 times in my life and I'll never forget them. I was close each time and the thrust made my chest throb. One hell of a bird designed back in 1970.
The newly upgraded f15's are the best choice for Canada
They cost more than the F-35 does though. The US is paying 1.2 billion for 8 new F-15X's. They are a quality jet and would fit into NORAD and NATO operations nicely.
U.K. AND U.S.A. !!! Pure awesomeness! 🇱🇷🇬🇧
Great footage of the activity going on on a mission at Lakenheath AFB.
Thanks to Michael J Fox for the video, and to the video editor, were you sleeping?
I laughed way too much at this comment...I'm going to hell haha
F-15 is one of the world's most beautiful aircraft
Good Job UK, we appreciate you!
After 12 minutes of waiting you missed the first plane taking off
He did not record a single one of them taking off! He got the first after it was in the air and wheels were up. By the time he swung back, the second was wheels up too. He did that for all four!
Chuck He did just fine, stick to train spotting 🤓
I love watching planes do their thing.
Owen Drought and listening 😉
Exciting. Twelve minutes of video of f-15's taxiing on the runway.
It is almost easier if they just taxi to Lakenheath on the public road. :) If you are standing at the other end of the LN runway, you are easily able to spotting all those planes of Mildenhall, which are climbe at the far end of the Mildenhall runway.
Will always remain my favorite fighter jet.
I would hate to find myself on the business end of an F-15. Question: How many planes make up a squadron, and is it the same throughout all branches?
Generally 22 to 24 fighters for the USAF.
Any reason why 9:18 is unmarked?
Jay good it’s probably a royal Saudi Air Force plane on its way to Saudi Arabia
Still the most intimidating fighter in the world . Reputation speaks for itself
Still the best fighter around despite the absence of stealth technology. And don’t forget not one F15 has ever been shot down since it was introduced into service.
Not true. While are no verified claims about losses in air-to-air combat, at least two were lost to anti-aircraft fire during Desert Storm.
Best Fighting country and equipment in the world bar none and I am a Canadian
JET noise is the sound of FREEDOM 👍🏻😎🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🌎👌🏻🤔😀
Amazing takeoff sound!
I am from America God bless the UK
Right back at you.. 🇺🇸
The f15 eagle is fantastic
Its a very special relationship indeed and yes the patch on the tanker is a sign of that relationship!
TheTolz0 cousins 👍🏻
Mess w/the Best, Die
Like the Rest
Double thumbs up on the Eagles and Our Brit cousins and allies. Thumb down for the 12 minute wait in the vid for the promised 'departing'.
Hey, what's going on at Molesworth these days ??
Would have been nice to see the run, rotate and take-off, we see the planes already in the air.
Amazing video again where were you filming from at mildenhall

Though we have faster and newer aircraft today, the F-15 Eagle is still a very powerful weapon and a thing of great beauty.
Not faster!
Ye olde A-10 Warthog is a fairly boisterous machine, also. Get it? Fairly? Because it is manufactured, by "Fairchild Aircraft". Right over your head.
The ultimate roar is the KC-135 in FULL afterburner ON THE RUNWAY during take-off!!! Now that's LOUD!!!
Chris Long Best sound of all was the SR71 Blackbird taking off.
Filming planes taxiing for 12 minutes. Then pans away to a tanker as soon as the actual takeoff starts XD
Was near there today and saw 16 of these f15s take off (at different times of course) in groups of 4 it was amazing
Takeoff starts @12:00
Awesome F-15 Eagle fighter jets.... love to be there to see them in person.😊💖😺
The auto correct changed Kadena to Karen's but it is Kadena

I'm in
Glad someone confirmed these are "Cs"- I always thought those based at LN were F15E Strike Eagles & they're twin seaters.
Very cool, love the British commentary.
Seems like a very slow and inefficient way to get 4 jet fighters into the air. How much fuel did they burn up just on the ground? Jeez.
that's why the tankers were following them up.
@@gutsfield3504mach 3.4......are u serious? that SR-71 territory. I don't think f-15 s are made from titanium
That’s why they are based close to Mildenhall where the tankers are based.
Fantastic aircraft...still the only one with a perfect combat record. NONE shot down, MANY kills!
It was the king of the skies when it was first commissioned into service n still a Great fighter after so many years i do Not know of anyone who doesn't admire this plane they still look beautiful way better than the F22 F35
Thought one crashed in Libya?
Thanks for the tip on moving from Auto settings to 1080. Does improve quality. Seeing these take off is awesome. It's impossible to capture the true drama in a video. Seeing in person is thrilling.
How about the noise from SR 71s that took off from RAF Mildenhall?
The locals complained about the windows being shattered.
Thereafter, the Blackbirds could only take off after 6 AM.
I know because I was there.
I LOVE THE LOOK OF THE F --15 ! -----------------WolfSky9
Amazing sound, wow
Pretty tame compared to a Lighting F3 on reheat, vertical climb. And to think it started design in 1950's.Also, the F15 couldn't catch Concorde...
But the Lightning did... unbroken record...
The fourth pilot gave a nod to the crowd, good sport.
How much fuel was used for all those aircraft
In full after burner, both engines burn about 3-4 gallons per second combined.
Wonder where they were off too.
Retweaked the F 15 a little more vector thrusters and laser on nose .
The sound of freedom
My ex was at Lakenheath twice.. 2nd time I got to go... It was transition from 111's to the 15's
Are these F 15 C?
mach 2.5 , it was the most loudest take off every time it takes off from Butterworth airbase in Penang even some of the roof top nearby house have flown away when this 2.5 Mach jet fighters take off in very low level with full afterburner , unfortunately this 2.5 Mach jet fighters never make any flights demo in Butterworth or Langkawi island, that's disappointing me , i want to enjoy its powerful engine sounds , the f15 eagle
How many mach does it fly?
