Film whatever you're passionate about. Your love will shine through and it'll be perfect. I can tell with each video how comfortable you're becoming with doing these vlogs. Love watching them and the primary channel! With SO much hate in the world now, these videos are refreshing and much needed!

This is a nice complement to Empire… It’s nice to get a sense of place and day to day with your vlogs, while Empire can focus more on small details and how to’s.

Hey, young lady stop putting yourself down!! You are worth just as much as Kaleb in this restoration!! It is a massive task you've both taken on. Everything will come together quickly once you get electricity and water pipes laid then the ceilings and the insulation, plastered walls.
I loved your tour of the house, seeing it through your eyes bought about a totally different perspective. It was a fresh, fun and clear picture showing all aspects of it. The view from the back and you talking about what needs doing was great. It shows how YOU see things. The love in your voice when you went to the 3rd floor was very evident, you were soft and gentle but you had a confidence and assuredness in your voice. You're doing great Kim, you really gotta stop thinking your not! Kaleb does what Kaleb does and is amazing how he works but he still doubts his decisions sometimes. Once you get to work on making it your craft room, your bedroom, your sitting room, YOU still have a say because you are both building your home so it's a combined effort and experience.
I loved the work you did today, you're doing great. Now go enjoy your holiday, look forward to seeing some holiday footage, have fun. Thank you for your video. Take care, keep safe.
    Love and hugs Lesley-Ann xX

Word of advice. My husband and I have done so many renovations for the past 26 years. Still in process with our bathroom now. While living in the house we totally gutted the kitchen to the studs. Replaced the subfloor in the entire main floor. And I can assure you that cleaning and organizing helps a ton. The house is gorgeous. Enjoy the process.

I love this candid tour of the house. It's probably your commentary and the time you take to go from room to room - this is the most thorough tour I've seen that gives me a good feel for the layout of the house. I keep forgetting how BIG the house is! The shape of the house itself and even the rooms twists my sense of proportion. Look forward to seeing your craft room completed. Wonderful view from up there.

A palm or a big fern on a tall period plant stand would be beautiful in that nook on the third floor behind the rail. I see that house full of palms and ferns. Have fun on your trip, and stay well.

Hi Kim, the Cedar wood closet is lined with Cedar wood because it keeps moths a bay, they really don't like Cedar wood!.You often find small blocks or marbles made of Cedar placed in drawers to protect your clothing. To keep them "activated " you use very fine sand paper and just give them a rub every now and again. So, when the closet has been restored, all you need to do is use a piece of very fine sand paper and take a shelf or drawer out give it a bit of a rub and it will protect your clothes. So, I would suggest you do your own research as the Cedar may be dealt with differently these days. Also, when it comes to wood Kaleb uses oils and things when he restores wood but as your clothes are likely to be in the closet they could get stained.
I hope this is of help to you.
    Take care and keep safe,
    Lesley-Ann xX

So glad that you did this. The master suite upstairs is going to be so beautiful! Your own private space. I can picture it all laid out. Thanks for the tour. I enjoy your gentle manner as you show us your progress and future plans for the house. I think your craft room sounds awesome. I am a quilter and perked up at the mention of a sewing machine and fabric cutting table. When you were talking about your mom and your needing a car as she can’t walk as far as you, I thought she was elderly. Then you mentioned she is 61. I am 61 so that made me laugh. I am glad to hear you will wear a mask even though you are vaccinated as you can get Covid even if you have had it before. Being vaccinated, Covid would be milder but with the hospitals filled, you or your mom don’t want to get sick. Stay safe and have fun.

I watched the tour at the very beginning of the restoration but I definitely needed this 2nd one because I thought all the newly installed windows were on the 3rd floor! Your third floor bedroom and bathroom will be wonderful, plus a library, several sitting rooms and your craft room. You will never want to leave. Have fun with your mom; anything you want to show us in Nashville will be new to me. The American Pickers antique shop sounds like fun. Can’t wait see video from your trip. Safe travels. 🚐🚌

I’d rather wash dishes any day than dust haha. Thanks for the tour. It gives us an idea as what you want to do in the house. You mentioned about sitting area for the dogs to see outside. I suggest making a cushion for it that way the dogs can’t scratch up the wood or if painted. Also in case they want to nap they have something comfy to lay on. This house is going to be beautiful someday n they’ll always be something you’ll have to. A house is never really finished they say haha.
Thanks again n have fun washing the dishes

I can appreciate how much hard work is going into your house and it feels like it is never ending ! I had my home restored just under 20 years ago, the mess was horrendous, at one point there was no roof on my kitchen , just four stone walls. Luckily it was worked on when it was as we discovered that a wooden beam that held up the rear of the house was rotted out at both ends and the whole of the back of the house was close to collapse. As the saying goes " you can't make an omelette without breaking eggs" and when all the eggs are broken at once it seems overwhelming. The work on my home ( 1894) went on for 7 months and I had to live in it whilst it happened. All at once everything seemed to come together and the structural work was complete. It took a further 2 years to get all the decorating and refurnishing done ( partly due to having to have surgery and then recover which took 6 months) I am now on with redecorating for the 3rd time . There are still things I would change, money permitting, but a home is a never ending project. You will get there. Good luck x

    Great update!!!!!!
Hearing what you plan for the top floor sounds great, but just as a thought and possibly a better layout!
    Trunk room, becomes kitchenette/laundry room…
    Bedroom, becomes large bathroom…..
    Bathroom/kitchenette, becomes bedroom/sofa area
This way it’s a better flow from room to room and none of the original rooms are split up, also you then don’t have to walk through/past the kitchenette to get to your bedroom….

I’m sure they’ll consider your ideas. I didn’t plot it out in my head, but I’m sure they gave thought to where existing plumbing is, etc. Sometimes that sort of determines where things go unless you want to rip out a lot of floors, walls and/or ceilings. And when you’ve spent as much time as they have putting those things back together, I’m sure the last thing they want is to create even more to rebuild. It’s just a guess.

In the 1980s my husband, I and our three kids moved into a home that had been empty about 10 years. My first walk through I closed the storm windows to keep the weather out. We moved in after a few months of working on it and finally had water, electric and a wood burner in basement and main floor fireplace insert. I also cleaned and painted master bedroom so we had a nice place to sleep. It was a long job but it was very nice when done. Best wishes!

Yay! You got your car back and, hopefully, as good as new.
Loved the tour! It’s good to have another perspective and it was helpful to have another tour to put the rooms back into a coherent space in my head again. I think I tend to get all focused on one or two rooms as Kaleb works - this helped me see it as a whole again! And I think you do a great job with the camera, but I think I’m the weirdo in the group. 🤪 I actually prefer it when it’s normal pace so it feels like it would if I were walking and seeing it. I start feeling seasick if it’s slow - but that’s what the playback speed adjustment is for, right?
Have a wonderful time traveling with your mom. It sounds like so much fun! Show us what you can and/or want to. Make sure you don’t pressure yourself doing this instead of relaxing and enjoying the trip. And, yes, I’m in the group that’s up for the RV show!

Its actually not a french door by french standard😅for us it should connect to the outside, "porte-fenêtre" door-window in eng is a door with glass which allows the natural light inside your house, for most of American a french door is the 2glass doors but we still call a 1 door as porte-fenêtre, if it's in the inside then it's just a door,no matter how it is made,it's still a door . Une baie-vitrée is the bay window which was commonly used for Windows which does not allows u to go outside, usually with little windows both side which u can open, but mostly large closed bay windows,in france it was mostly done on vérandas. Today the bay windows r more common than french doors, so they r more integrated in the architecture than the french-doors,accessible to the exterior or not ,bay windows r much more appreciated.
Also the french doors does not mean those small square windows, there is plenty of them with larger glass windows with 1/3 of it just wood .

    @penihavir1777 3 роки тому +1

I love your idea of having a Murphy sewing table. ♥️
You don’t have to use these additional ideas of course, but here are a couple.
    * Have a shallow cabinet on the wall behind the sewing table. When it’s up, it looks like whatever design you have on the underside of the table, and the cabinet shelves are hidden. When the table is down, you can use shelves that hold your most often used craft supplies. No need to go into the closet - just reach up and you’re ready to keep rolling.
    * Cork-topped table… whether this is a good idea depends on your crafts. For sewing, a cork topped table is great (it’s what they use in professional sewing spaces). The fabric doesn’t slide off the table, and you can stab the pin through the pattern into the table - the fabric doesn’t shift under the pattern. (Good for large pattern pieces - pin traditionally for small ones.)
It’s also useful if you are making or copying patterns, making a pattern from an existing item, etc.

Loved the layout of the house tour! Kaleb has been good at showing the rooms so maybe between Kaleb’s previous tours and you filming it in your style, I felt the layout this time. Looking down over the bannister actually made me feel like I was there! With the natural light ; the upper floors were showing her beauty. Seeing the little nook at the top of the stairs made me visualize an antique Jardiniere with a fern . Maybe that would be too plain for the decorative nook. Is it possible to pass “ simple farmhouse” gene on, because I think I got it!😂. When Kaleb said he wanted to eventually put a stained glass window in but he had to learn how to do the lead first…..it’s the way I looked at things in my 30’s & 40’s. I’ll just make it, but first I need to learn how! He’s got the talent to do it too, I’m sure! You spoke about your sewing machine going in your craft room, what do you like to create?
I’m am one of THOSE people that buys furniture with my little dogs in mind, like will they be comfortable laying on the top while sunning in the window? Or buying an ottoman to go under a low window for them. Need I say I go through a lot of window cleaner😂? Wherever you and your mom go on your trip, have fun! Go where you want to go and I will be like a little mouse in your pocket enjoying the sights.

Will you be sleeping on the second floor after the bathroom is finished until the top floor bedroom is done? Yes we’ll be in the maids hall area when we move in. We have blackout curtains now but they aren’t perfect.

This tour really complimented the earlier house tour video and helped me to understand the layout better. I enjoyed hearing your plans for all the spaces, and especially loved how much window space you're planning for the dogs, as well as the pet mural. Excellent idea! I would be interested in seeing the RV show. I hope you and your mom have a wonderful trip!

Thank you for the tour Kim. I like that you know just how your craft room will be laid out and your dogs will have a view from the window. I love a floor plan - do you have one, even just a sketch we could see? I hope you have a great time with your mum. I hope you can get a few rooms habitable soon. It will really spur you on. I’ve learnt so much from watching your videos! I’m watching from Hove on the south coast of England.

Good to see you plan for a third floor bath. I have seen too many third floor BRs with no BA. Same for the basement.

Craft room?! I love mine. I share a 2 bedroom apartment with my 20 year old daughter. The living room is her bedroom and her old room is my craft room. She has Asperger's and it made the last year a lot easier. we are able to get away from each other a bit and she didnt turn into a depressed lump in her room.

    Two comments.
    1. Membrane roofing does best with nothing on top or attached through it. Decking and railing all need to be fastened securely down both of which would require penetrations though the membrane. Also to consider is what happens when something hard, like wood, rides on top of something softer, ie any sort of roofing material. Things will move, from walking, temperature changes and wind. Rubbing things make holes in the softer of the 2 materials
2.Until people become parents it is hard to guess how many facets of their lives will be affected. Most parents would not be comfortable or find it convenient to live a floor above their children for the first several years.

If we have kids or adopt we will absolutely make any necessary changes. I would not want to be on a different floor.

Well we are going to be together for a long time, you have a lot of work to do, take a vacation while you can. I know it must be very overwhelming for you, the house and all there is to do, and then you have to go through the efforts of making these videos and keeping a positive outlook for the camera. I don’t know that I could put myself on display like that, so I give you huge kudos. I love Art Deco and I bet your work room will be spectacular, you have probably already sketched it out on paper or at least in your head 100 times. I love second empire style also very much and I doodle around with fantasy floor plans all the time. I’m so happy you took us up to the third floor because I’ve always had a hard time envisioning how the mansard roof works on the inside. I thought there would be a sloped ceiling or the walls would be angled but I see that they are perfectly straight and the pitch of the mansard doesn’t really take up that much room like I thought it would. You and Caleb should go on line and see the mattersport 3D walkthrough of the Alexander King Estate, it’s a beautiful 2nd empire house that the owners have spent years restoring and it’s magnificent. The library has the most beautiful-emerald green tile fireplace and the walls are emerald green cloth with hand painted gold gryphons which overflows in motif of gryphons throughout the room. The gas lamps the table legs the armchairs there’s gryphons everywhere. It has an interactive walk through that you can explore every inch of the house and look at it in a dolls house view, plan view, or interactive view. You will really appreciate their wonderful use of wallpaper. Well enjoy your time off and keep safe, clear your head and remember this too shall pass, and will be so worth the effort when you get to see it from the other end of the spectrum.

It's been awhile. I agree with your views on masking and we also avoid places where masks are an after thought. Be prepared because TN and GA are not compliant. If you choose to film RVs it would be greatly appreciated. TY Kim. Enjoy your get away!!
