It's a screening course. They teach you how to fly, but it is used as a screening process. If you fail out of IFS your pilot slot is gone and you'll have to find another job. Depending on class size and weather IFS should take about 3 weeks. It is after OTS and before UPT
Does being a USAFA grad make any difference at IFS/UPT? Do you have an upper-hand on ROTC/OTS grads? Just wondering. Shoot me a message if you don't want to put out there for the world to see!
3 year old comment but simple answer is no. Once you are in IFT/UPT you are all considered equals. Previous flight experience is the only leg up you might possibly have on someone.
It stands for Initial Flight Screening. It is the Air Force's way of getting rid of people that can't grasp the basics of flying
This is beautiful.. brings back... memories. I don't know how you guys found the time to make it.
Class 19-07 approves this message. Everything is exactly the same.
Sh!t pilots don't say: "Man, I miss IFS. Think I'll apply to DOSS after I get out."
We made it with all that free time we had
half of us were from the Academy and the other half were from all over.
good thing we don't wear blues anymore or have mandatory PT
Lmao I deployed with one of the pilot on the right last year (in the screen cap). He's captain now.
Thats exactly what my last IP said. That right there is so true.
At the 3:05 I'm absolutely sure that's my current room...
is it a course? Is it a screening? What happens if you fail out of IFS? How long is it? Does it come after OTS and before UPT?

Trainer cockpits are from da20!!
Did you guys go to OTS personally? How good are your chances of getting a pilot slot if you are in AFROTC at a civilian university?
what is IFS?
