We are back with the Fifth episode of the Fifth Season of this contest my brothers! That's right, we're here to look at the official video for Gaslands UK's Car of the Month competition, May 2024, the Life-is-a-Beach~ Build month!
A monthly model making contest converting die-cast vehicles into post apocalyptic battle wagons suitable for tabletop games such as Gaslands, Autokill, Car Wars, Dark Future and more!

Excelent models as always.
I find your critiques of these as exciting as the models themselves. They often remind me of my favorite part of art school. Tell me what’s good, what needs work, and why. The first thing I learned in art school was to divorce my ego from my work so I can use any feedback. So I live for input now.

I love yours actually. I really do. The head lights vs the rest especially. And blue has a time honored tradition in miniatures and scifi stuff not just because of 40k but also vintage scifi art like that of Chris Foss. However the wheels are open on the back which breaks immersion. Also the gun mount is such that it can only turn side to side but it can’t elevate or depress. Consider looking at the way modern armored vehicles mount guns in remote operated turrets. Like it’s a square U shape and you’d mount the gun on an axle rod that the top of the U holds, with targeting pod on one side and an ammo belt and magazine box off center say. You could use hot wheels axle wire for the barrel, and like, cut the nail head off and nest on a bit of brass tube for like a flash hider or something. Also on many auto cannons there’s a can shaped exit chute for spent casings that points diagonals down and a bit off center.
Consider also using metal tubing for exhaust pipes
@@jonmandelbaum5395 I appreciate your comments. Always open to critique. But I slapped that thing together in a day just to make the deadline. Didn’t bother with the June challenge because of time constraints.

The paint on Marc G’s bug is perfect for the genre. The design overall too I’d vote for it. Hell if I wasn’t broke I’d buy it from him.

Amber’s is great because it’s understated. I get your criticisms but what’s in the right direction is that it’s grounded because of its understated bits. It’s legit and worthy of development. If she’d shelled out for fancy wheels like Jakarta diecast project uses and made maybe visible exhaust pipes made with actual tubes, that would have bright it all together. She doesn’t need much to fix it really.
