That is achievable, provided you design your slides to be somewhat a different aspect ratio than 16:9 (Maybe 4:3) if you want to show up next to the slides. If it's 50/50, then your slides would basically have to be half of a 1920x1080 pixels screen and then you can crop your camera to the other half. What I recommend, is you keep your slides at 16:9 aspect ratio, widescreen HD, but you put your camera into a talking head circle in the corner where you don't show any important information. You can record your screen while you show your slides and use that video (Descript should record it separate track), or you can just use the screen recording as a guide so you can know where you changed slides, and add the real slides, exported as pictures, high quality, on top, at the point you change them on the real video.
