Had multiple opportunities to meet this awesome human being. I was able to have him sign my Yamaha Signature Steve Jordan snare. I use it every gig and will cherish for the rest of my days.
Steve just oozes funk and cool everywhere he goes. That side kit with just the bass and snare, I love that kind of setup. I used to bring that type of kit (small bass drum, piccolo snare) to an acoustic-y coffeehouse house open mic and it was so much fun to strip back and just groove on a kit like that. When the piccolo got to be too much i'd put up a muffled snare and just keep time and drive the bus so to speak. And the way he can play a song with no cymbals or even a big fill and just groove throughout, that was a real inspiration to me.
look at this aggressive russian guy XD actually i listen to a looot of music and steve's groove is the most enjoyable thing that i found for me until now. if you dont believe it, go check out his live songs with john mayer on "where the light is" ;) and i also saw him live. any questions?
Oh.......how I wish I’d played with a drummer of Steve’s caliber. But.......there wasn’t anybody of his caliber around for my days onstage. My loss, for sure. What a drummer.......fantastic musician.
Still, must be hard sleeping on a tour bus - despite it looking nice - at that age. I thought they would be flying everywhere. Either he needs the money or still loves that lifestyle.
Steve Jordan has awesome groove! Love that dude. I had Geoff Clapp at my house recently and we were trading cymbals, got hold of a 20" Paiste Masters Dark signed by Josh Freese, it's a fantastic ride! 3 rivet holes currently has one sizzle in it and sounds awesome. He gave me a Jazz CD and I can't stop playing it - check it out: Branford Marsalis Quartet 'Footsteps of our Fathers' I can't stop playing it! Keep groovin'! - DC
Hi David! I am a jazzdrummer from Austria and have been living in NY for some years where I really became close friends with Geoff. We have been buddies and cymbal traders since then and he also came to visit me in Austria and we played 2 drum shows together. I am happy to read about him here in your post. I think I had this Paiste cymbal for a while and a friend of mine was even hammering it more so it sounds even better. I can imagine you like it! I also got a huge cymbal collection if you are still interested in trading some?
@@jskins714 Just listen to it, how it makes the beat feel and groove, only a few can achieve that. Complexity is a tool you have to use for the right context just as simplicity, one is not better than the other, what it matters is how you use those tools in behalf of music and giving the best possible performance which is what Jordan always does.
All I can hear is,"Still feel like your man." Had to rewatch to hear Steve talk. Such a great video!!
lol so on point
Its hard to believe the dude is 60. Definitely the best out there for me.
60?? Jeez!

Clanton Blaylock best snare ever hard to find now 😢
I know! That says it all right there! Had to settle for a Pearl Omar Hakim model I got a killer deal on. Sounds close when I tune it high.
Clanton Blaylock I have one also , my go to snare ! What heads and resonants do you use on yours ?
Love that they're rocking Still Feel Like Your Man
Steve is such a legend. I could listen to any story he wants to share about his life. Very inspiring musician.
How relaxed is Steve?
Yes
My favorite musician hands down. If a genie granted me a wish it would be to drum like Steve Jordan, after that, world peace.
One of my favorite drummers...so expressive and musical
Fantastic drummer that plays anything he wants with his signature

Deep respect for Steve as a drummer/musician/person/producer...:)!!!
Just love Steve Jordan. The ultimate groovemeister 👌 seems like a top guy too.

makes perfect sense to my ears but doesn't when I started to figure out the chords they were playing hehe.. I love it!
Such a nice and kind vibe out there!!
just saw the trio last night in detroit, man they sounded amazing. Steve Jordan brings the groove!!!
UM a recording of that "still feel like your man" warmup jam PLEASE
Steve does not age.
Yeah black dont crack
Still, must be hard sleeping on a tour bus - despite it looking nice - at that age.

@@simonperry8569 naaaah he don't need the money. He's definitely set for life. The guy just loves to play drums
This is the type of shit I miss about music. The behind the scenes stuff. #bestdrummerintheworld #stevejordan

God, that little warm up groove is ridiculous.

Did you mean Josh Freese?
AquaAnim - with an 's' yes - compliments of iPhone ;)
David Curtis Haha gotta hate autocorrect sometimes! Josh is an awesome drummer himself!
AquaAnim - yes he is :)

I could live easily on this tour bus
still love it!!
I've been waiting for a new Steve Jordan video for a while! Now, the wait is over!
BEST background music ever 3:15 on . . . band is "jammin on the one"
GOAT!
Ooohhh... 😍
Great video!
BOSTON!!!!!!!!
Thanks for explaining why he was carrying in a drum.
Hey Boston!
Dat Brady snare...
drumtravelfun got that too, so good!!!
I want to hear the original recording of that jam!!
I honestly like the first part of this video better. Lol 😂
That snare that he's playing... what a sound! Anyone knows the type?
12x7 Brady. Looks like a Wandoo block. I've got a 12x7 Brady Sheoak and York Gum - both are amazing.
For a brief moment I thought Dom Famularo was the bus driver....
Q sonzera eita pegaaaa
KILLER END
Top Notch Dude
Awesome video :)
Simple ain’t easy.
Oh shit! That bus is like a hotel
What are they playing at the very beginning?
What cymbals does he play?
Had to pause at 2:44 to drool
geniooooooo
How does Pino fit in that bed in the bus?
Anyone know what snare/ hi hats he’s using for this
Are those 16" GB hats? Or maybe 18"? Great video!
mrxsneakyxsim Those hats on his small bass drum set are clearly Giant Beats at least on top
17" custom made Giant Beat hi hats
Steve high af
I don't doubt that he smokes, considering like 90% of musicians do nowadays, but he also has just a super chill personality.
I do not think he does, seems pretty normal but of course laid back. I guess there is simply no time for smoking weed in this game..
@@rootshers you are mistaken
anyone catch what snare that is?
I-WANT-THAT-BUS
all those snares and he walks around with one under his arm lol
Condo Bunks 😎
Such a dude. And jamming around with 'still feel like your man' I think it was
Qu’est-ce qu’il est bon lui
He switched to matched grip?
Joe Lackey he goes back and forth depending on the groove
Sometimes he'll switch mid song if it really starts to rock extra hard.
Does Jordan ever age??..gee he looks good.Super socially aware cat..he's the best
My kit parents have
Steve is the koolest KAT on earth 🌍
Is Steve Jordan high 24 hours a day now? He never takes off those sunglasses.
Thanks
Is it me or is he SKY high......🤭
Oh.Shit.
A different snare for each song.
Sorry, but that's just overkill.
Did not think his voice would sound like that
What the fuck is Sean Penn doing there?
WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK???
06:06 Jordan farts from excitement
Better at drumming than he is at politics.
Great product-
Horrible, lousy customer service!
Why?
fussy.
Sorry, I love Steve Jordan, but changing the snare drum for just about every song is over the top.
Simon Perry lol, yeah I kinda agree.
@@Josh-kt6jh each one of mayers songs has a different tone some are high some are low its only with mayer he changes snares alot
How does this dude get so popular by playing nothing but simple grooves?
Are you serious?
Yes.

Mayer- no thanks, I'll pass.
