  • Hey guys! A lot of you have asked me what my life's journey been like and how I decided to move from an engineer profile to that of a product manager, did MBA help in that journey and how I managed to move to Dubai.
    This video is an honest coffee conversation where I share my life's story on how I am a software engineer turned product management professional and what experiences made me take those decisions.
    I also share my life's learnings and hope that this helps all those who are thinking if an MBA helps in transitioning into a Product Manager role and how software engineers like myself can move into the world of product management.

    Thank you so much for the video. It was great from start to end. One interesting moment was when you talked about how you felt as a failure as a PM. I also feel sometimes this way, and I think it's ok. I think this is how we grow. Not everyone can be perfect from day one. It is more important that we learn and continue on our path.

      Exactly! It Is important that we give ourselves the space to be human and not expect perfection on day 1.

    Hi Aarushi, it's good to hear about your switch to prod mgmt. I am an experienced Proj Mgr working in UK (moved from India in 2017). I am interested in pursuing careen in prod mgmt, however I can't do full time course like you did. I know about prod mgmt but don't have qualifications to show. Can you suggest any other ways of acquiring the qualification/skills from any courses/certifications, that are well respected in the industry?

    • @techproductgirl
      @techproductgirl  Рік тому +1

      Absolutely. You can do certifications like cspo/pspo. However what works best is doing some internships/projects.
      Try reaching out to series a or seed funded startups. They are more likely to take a chance of candidates with no experience

    Hey, thanks for sharing such insightful journey !
    I recently began as a Data Analyst and aspiring to get into PM after couple of years, but honestly am too confused as to which path would be the best to gain most exposure and job opportunities. Since I've found a lot of people on LinkedIn and UA-cam lately breaking into PM through various ways, some of them going to US for Masters in programs like engineering management, information management, or data science because PM seems to be more widely recognized there in US as compared to India.
    Can you share your opinion on this after having worked with various people in this domain.

    • @techproductgirl
      @techproductgirl  Рік тому

      Hey Niranjan! It all depends on where you want to build your career. If you want to move to the United States then it makes sense to go pursue a course from there. If you are interested in building it in India, then I’ll recommend pursuing a course from one of the Indian top colleges like IIMs or ISB.

      @@techproductgirl firstly thank u for ur reply hope you don't mind my typing skills in above 😅 cmg to the? Why am I passionate about PM
      1.I don't know what was PM till yesterday I came to know that through PM i can be part of a companies product journey where my true interest lies
      2.my obsession with gadgets(mobiles,laptops,basically techetc) they excite me, even more when I think as a customer point of view
      as a user I think I really know the insights of a product how it should be what features it must be loaded with in order to meet companies targets as well as customer needs at a shot.
      3.I have been following the trends of sales strategies for the launching price across all mobile platforms quite a time
      4.even while iam texting my phone Mi11 annoys me it worth 30k doesn't provide a good typing experience it's haptic feedback motors sucks which can be changed by compromising others features like cam
      5.that was regarding mobiles I have same kind of interest in other platforms as well like Netflix, UA-cam, nike etc if i can put all together anykind of product to be successful it really needs good strategy in each and every fund right through marketing teasing the product to it's launch date overall providing good experience to users for the price they pay that's how a company stays in competition with others and further innovate new things I want to be part of that community
      6.this is out of context but sometimes I feel I could be handy to top film production houses if we consider it as a product how to create a buzz with what might be a poster shorts etc and hovering audiences mind till release with all the stuff making them believe that the film has something to offer they book tickets that booms first week collections I came to know that Netflix also hires content product manager crt if am wrong yeah that r my thoughts

      Thanks for the long reply Shiva! You sound like someone who is really excited by tech and wants to do something there. My friend focus on getting more experience within the domain. While product is one way, there are other too. Coding, marketing and entrepreneurship are all ways as well.
